Outgoing Official Describes Needed School Upgrades

of Edward Ostroff who has served as the district’s facilities/capital projects director for many years. Ostroff’s retirement will take effect in August. He presented a report in relation to the status of capital projects which are a

priority this year. “I tried to deny and not take the letter from Mr. Ostroff but he wouldn’t have it,” Superintendent Nicole Pormilli said, noting that he would be missed and his hard work over the years was appreciated. “He is an incredible

asset to this district and the Board recognizes all the work he has done here to help us keep up our facilities,” Pormilli said. She noted that Ostroff had overseen the construction of the school district’s satellite transportation facility that was com-

pleted last year. “These are big shoes to fill and I wanted to say thank you,” she added. Ostroff was among staff members who spoke during a recent school board meeting about what their respective office was

Jackson Parke South Case Continuing

By Bob Vosseller JACKSON – More testimony will be heard concerning the controversial Jackson Parke South application during a March 15 Township Planning Board meeting. The plan involves the property of Jackson Parke in the Cassville section of Jackson which includes building a 549-unit single-family and multi-family development off West Veterans Highway. The applicant is EL at Jackson. The applicant is seeking preliminary and final major site plan approval. The project calls for 100 of the 144 apartments to be designated as affordable housing units which are defined as housing that is sold or rented at below market rates to either individuals or families whose incomes meet a specific criterion. Road Safety Ordinance Approved

By Bob Vosseller JACKSON – Officials looked at spots of dangerous roads in town. The Township Committee voted to amend township code within areas of Jackson where parking and stopping or standing is prohibited to make them safer. The measure prohibits parking, stopping or standing on County Road #27 and east from a point 250 feet south of the southerly Route 571 (Toms River curb line of Kindling Way to a point 425-foot Road) north of the northerly curb line of Tall Oaks Drive. The ordinance also includes areas west from a point 325 feet south of the southerly curb line of Aidan Lane to a point 505 feet north of the northerly curb line of Aidan Lane. Council President Andrew Kern said that the configuration of some of the roads prompted the ordinance. “These short shoulders have become a hazard for school buses when they are picking up children
