A recipe to build, create, and reinvent – every time.

IIcreated Soul Ramen while teaching at Saint Paul College, experimenting with Global Soul Fusion dishes. The original version featured rich, flavorful broth, sweet potato-infused ramen noodles, roasted sweet potatoes, collard greens, char siu pork, and soft-boiled eggs. It was all about technique, depth, and soul.

The Formula:

Broth Base (Start Here)

• Example: Spaghetti Squash, Rice Noodles, Soba Noodles, etc.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients:

2lbssweetpotatoes, peeled+cubed

2Tbspcookingoil

¾tspkosherorseasalt

Instructions: Tosswithoil+salt. Spreadonabakingsheet. Roastat425°Ffor27–35 min,flipping every 10 untiltender+caramelized.

Char Siu Mushrooms

Ingredients

3largemushrooms (scored)

1Tbspcookingoil

3garliccloves,minced

1"ginger,minced

½Tbspspicychilipaste

2Tbspsoysauce

¼cupwater 1Tbspricewine

1Tbspsugar

1bayleaf

½tspfive-spice

½tsptoasted sesameoil

Instructions: Sauté garlic + ginger in oil. 1. Add chili paste, cook 2 min. 2. Add mushrooms + brown. 3. Pour in sauce, bay leaf + five-spice. 4. Cover + simmer 15 min. 5. Uncover + reduce sauce. 6. Finish with sesame oil. 7.

Stewed Collard Greens & Bok Choy

Ingredients:

3 bunches greens (collards, bok choy, etc.), chopped Water + 1 Tbsp kosher salt

2–3 oz cooking oil

2 tomatoes, diced

1 onion, diced

Instructions:

1. Sauté onion in oil, then garlic.

Boil greens in salted water 60 min.

2. Add tomatoes + bay leaves, simmer 20 min.

4–6 garlic cloves, minced

2 bay leaves

2 pinches oregano

Salt + pepper to taste

Hot sauce to taste

Olive oil to finish

4. Drain greens, add tomato mix.

5. Season with oregano, hot sauce, salt + pepper.

6. Simmer 20–30 more min.

7. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil.

Let’s Build That Bowl

Start with your base: ramen noodles, spaghetti squash, or soba.

Pour in that rich, simmered broth—it’s the soul of the dish.

Top it off with your favorite toppings: greens, mushrooms, sweet potatoes.

Garnish with green onion and a dollop of chili garlic sauce.

Make It Your Own

Don’t be shy—this bowl is your canvas. Add tofu, sprinkle sesame seeds, swirl in miso butter. Get creative, taste everything, and trust yourself in the kitchen.
