his past winter, Gaylord, Michigan earned its reputation as the Snowmobile Capital of the North in unforgettable fashion. The Alpine Village was blanketed by a record-breaking 204 inches of snow, setting the stage for one of the most spectacular sledding seasons ever. From Gaylord, riders can explore routes that showcase the best of northern Michigan’s winter landscape: • Heading west from Gaylord, Trail #4 is a prominent route that leads riders through communities such as East Jordan and Mancelona. The scenery along this trail is a picturesque blend of serene forests and quaint towns, offering both excitement and tranquility. • For those preferring an eastern route, trails extend through Johannesburg and Lewiston, ultimately reaching Millersburg and Onaway. • Southern routes take you through the forests surrounding Frederic and Grayling. These trails offer a more rugged, natural experience, ideal for adventurous riders seeking to explore the wilder side of Michigan’s winter landscape. • Another exceptional route is the North Branch, a trail system that offers an array of snowmobiling experiences. This route extends south to Kalkaska’s renowned Blue Bear Trail, westward through the densely wooded Jordan Valley, and east to Lewiston’s Lovells Trail. The North Branch also features multiple connector trails and access to expansive National Guard land, offering riders a chance to explore open-range areas not typically available on other trails. • Perhaps the most exhilarating trail of all is the North Central State Trail. This 73-mile pathway, formerly a railroad corridor, takes riders through a diverse range of landscapes, including dense forests, open farmlands and picturesque towns. Along the way, these beckoning communities provide essential services such as fuel, food and rest stops. The trail’s northern terminus at the iconic Mackinac Bridge offers access to the Upper Peninsula, should you choose to continue your journey. K
im Bergeron never set out to be the kind of man who measured his life in miles across frozen rivers and desolate tundra. His snowmobiling story began simply: carving a trail so his son and daughter could ride to school and back. But years later, that simple act has carried him into the heart of the longest, toughest snowmobile race in the world — the Iron Dog. “I didn’t see this coming
back then, but now it’s in me,” Bergeron says. “It’s who I am. I’ve raced motocross, I’ve volunteered in countless snowmobile associations, but the community around the Iron Dog is unlike anything else.” That passion has carried Bergeron across two decades of expedition rides and volunteer work. And it has carried him through heartbreak, rescue, and redemption in back-to-back Pro Class attempts that tested not

only his skill and stamina, but his very resilience. A COLD BAPTISM In 2024, Bergeron and his close friend JP Bernier — both from New Hampshire — decided it was time to take the leap into Pro Class. They had ridden the Expedition several times. They had volunteered. They had dreamed. Now, they were ready. For nearly 2,500 miles, Team 15 fought through deep snow,

ground blizzards, and the kind of unpredictable terrain that makes the Iron Dog legendary. But just 206 miles from the finish, disaster struck. On the South Fork of the Kuskokwim, swollen by an unusual rain event, Bergeron’s sled went under. He cut the engine as the machine sank into seven feet of freezing, fast-moving water. Suddenly, the race wasn’t about placement or pride — it was about survival. “The water immersion self-rescue kicked in and JP was ready,” Bergeron recalls. “When in freezing water like that you have ten minutes to get out and get dry. I caught my breath and swam toward a berm. JP threw me a rope and pulled me out.” Shivering uncontrollably, soaked, and miles from shelter, Bergeron relied on the support of fellow racers Kodey Worley and Blake Elder, who declared a safety and got them to refuge. That moment crystallized something Bergeron already knew: the Iron

Dog is as much about community and friendship as it is about competition. “I’ve raced all over, but you don’t see this anywhere else,” he says. “The Alaskan community wants everyone to finish. They’ll give you their machines, their gear, their time. That’s the heart of this race.” 2025 Training back in NH, there was no snow in AK had to ship our practice units back to NH so we had units here to put time on!
REDEMPTION IN 2025 The failure of 2024 could have marked the end of the story. Instead, it lit a fire. Bergeron and Bernier returned in 2025, determined not to quit. This time, they had Polaris sleds prepped by 2024 champion Brett Lapham — a major advantage that eased the logistical burden and allowed them to focus on racing. The race was still brutal. Ground blizzards. Water skips. Endless hours in the saddle. But this time, they made it. When Team 15 crossed the finish line, they weren’t at the top of the leaderboard. In fact, they were last. But in the Iron Dog, last has its own honor. Bergeron and Bernier were awarded the Red Lantern — the prize for the final team to complete the course. “To some people, it might mean last place,” Bergeron says. “To me, it means never giving up. It means proving to yourself, to your partner, and to everyone watching that you have the grit to see it through. That’s a badge of honor.” For Bergeron, finishing wasn’t about the clock. It was about closing a loop, rewriting the ending that had been stolen by the river a year earlier, and embodying the Iron Dog’s spirit of endurance. Gratitude.” He tells of flying across 11 miles of crystal-clear ice at 97 miles per hour, the sensation unlike anything else. He tells of blizzards so blinding that survival depended on instinct and trust. He tells of meals shared in remote villages, volunteers turning rough trails into passable paths, and the endless generosity of Alaskans who treat racers like family. “I’ve never experienced anything like the it,” he says. “It’s why I keep coming back.” LOOKING AHEAD TO 2026 The Red Lantern finish in 2025 came with a prize: free passes for 2026. Bergeron and Bernier plan to use them, determined to race smarter, stay steady, and aim for a top 10 finish. For Bergeron, the race is no longer just a challenge. It’s a way of life. “About 50% of teams don’t finish. But if you’re steady, if you’re smart, you can. That’s what I believe. And that’s what keeps me going.” More than results, Bergeron is driven by the pull of the trail, the bond with his partner, and

Groomer Equipment, Workshop, and Advocacy Update
T
his year, after the storm damage was accounted for, and the exhausted volunteers cleared away the downed trees, and while these numbers do not account for the appropriation that DNR uses to administer Karen the program Middendorp $500,000 of Executive your snow trail Director permit dollars MISORVA was allocated for trail repairs, and $1.3 million for new equipment purchases. Funding includes replacement of a groomer lost in a fire, three additional groomers, and six new drags to help maintain Michigan’s statewide trail network. The Snowmobile Advisory Equipment Subcommittee collaborated closely with DNR partners through several joint meetings to
determine which clubs required new equipment. In addition, $200,000 remains in contingency for unexpected costs that we all know can arise. In December 2024, in typical annual fashion, a memo from DNR set the grooming reimbursement rate at $5.16 per mile last season, broken down as follows: • $2.15 – Labor • $0.62 – Per mile grooming rate • $2.39 – Fuel So with that knowledge, at $52. per permit, how many miles do you pay for? GROOMING PROGRAM ACCOUNTABILITY: WHERE IS THE MONEY BEING SPENT? Without complete documentation, the DNR and advisory committees cannot justify potential increases in
reimbursement rates. And while paperwork may seem tedious, it’s a critical piece of the program. Clubs spend hundreds of volunteer hours not only operating and maintaining equipment, but also managing the documentation that keeps the program running smoothly. But what about clubs that don’t get enough of that “white gold”? Even without snow, they must still prepare the trails — brushing, signing, and repairing every mile in anticipation of a rideable season. These clubs continue to incur costs for equipment upkeep, yet those expenses often go unrecorded. Each club receives $90. per mile for the annual brushing and signing, as well as the grooming per diem mentioned above. The reality is that the current program has its flaws, but working together —
clubs, MISORVA, and the DNR — will ultimately lead to stronger accountability and better outcomes for everyone. Our grooming clubs, both snow and dirt, rely on your continued support to keep the lights on and the barns heated. The program doesn’t buy barns. It doesn’t buy the tools, welders, or heaters that keep groomers running. Those essentials are purchased through spaghetti dinners, raffles, and community donations. Although the new formula for the ORV program has yet to be revealed, we can assume it won’t cover these same expenses in the dirt community. Many clubs still operate without barns at all, working in the snow, rain, and occasional sunshine. These dedicated volunteers pour countless hours into keeping Michigan’s trails open, safe, and connected.

For that commitment, we are deeply grateful. 2026 GROOMER WORKSHOP Dates: February 24–26, 2026 Host: Michigan Snowmobile & ORV Association (MISORVA) Planning is underway for the 2026 Groomer Workshop, an annual educational event targeting snow trail groomer clubs and their volunteers. The workshop brings together snowmobile clubs from across Michigan to share best practices, discuss challenges, and strengthen our trail program. MISORVA has proudly hosted this event for many years, with attendance growing steadily. This year’s workshop will once again include DNR partners, working alongside clubs to refine statewide best practices. Attendees will receive updates on new paperwork requirements, grooming “do’s and don’ts,” and equipment maintenance standards. Again this year, MISORVA has secured grant funds to cover registration for 4 club members to attend this event. Donations are always welcome and encouraged! LEGISLATIVE RIDES AND ADVOCACY MISORVA and our lobbyist are currently planning a Legislative Snowmobile Ride to give elected officials firsthand experience of the snowmobile community and its economic impact. A Legislative ORV Ride will follow soon after. Every rider contributes to Michigan’s economy — spending money on gas, food, lodging, and repairs. These dollars support small towns, motels, restaurants, and

local gas stations across the state. You can help make these advocacy rides possible! Donations are needed to cover fuel, lodging, and transportation costs for volunteers who haul equipment and educate our legislators. WHY MISORVA MATTERS MISORVA’s work extends far beyond the trails. Our members proudly serve on the Snowmobile Advisory Workgroup (SAW), ORV Advisory Workgroup (ORVAW), and the Michigan Trails Advisory Council (MTAC) — where all user groups come together to protect volunteers, improve programs, and promote fair recreation policy. Currently, the ORV Advisory Workgroup is developing a new funding formula to better support equipment purchases and improve maintenance efficiency. Groups like the Cycle Conservation Club (CCC) have long led by example in maintaining and modernizing their fleets — a model all programs can learn from as motorized recreation continues to grow rapidly across Michigan. Both SAW and MISORVA remain steadfast in our commitment to accountability, transparency, and volunteer protection — the foundation that keeps Michigan’s trail system one of the best in the nation. But ask yourself — what happens if MISORVA goes away? Who will attend DNR meetings? Who will protect the voices of riders, clubs, and volunteers? Recognizing the Heart of Michigan’s Trails Jeff Jackson, Groomer of the Year Volunteers are the backbone of the snowmobile and ORV trail system.
M
ichigan’s snowmobile and ORV trail system exists thanks to one thing — the hard work and dedication of countless club volunteers. Many riders assume that once they buy a trail permit and registration, the DNR takes care of the Brad rest. But in reality, every Beardsly mile of smooth, brushed, Region 3 and well-marked trail is District 8 the result of volunteer hours put in by local clubs across the state. Each year, MISORVA proudly honors these outstanding individuals during our Awards Presentation at the General Membership Meeting held in early October. This year, we’re thrilled to recognize Jeff Jackson, known by many as the “Midnight Rambler,” from
the Kalkaska County Sand and Snow Club, as Groomer of the Year for both ORV and Snow. If you follow the Kalkaska County Sand and Snow Club on Facebook, you’ve probably seen their frequent updates about grooming runs and trail conditions. This club, named MISORVA’s Dual Club of the Year in 2024, sets a shining example of what dedication and community spirit look like. Jeff has been a loyal and hardworking member of the club for over seven years. His commitment to keeping Michigan’s trails safe, smooth, and enjoyable is unmatched. Just this past summer, by early August, Jeff had already graded the trails a dozen times — adding up to an incredible 96 hours of volunteer work. But Jeff ’s contributions go beyond
the groomer seat. He’s known for creating a welcoming atmosphere on the trails — stopping to chat with riders, lending a hand to anyone in need, and ensuring everyone has a great experience. At trail stops, Jeff often fires up the grill, offering food, conversation, and camaraderie to all who pass by. His blend of skill, generosity, and passion embodies what our trail community is all about. Volunteers like Jeff make it possible for everyone to ride safely and enjoy the beauty of Michigan’s great outdoors. CONGRATULATIONS, JEFF JACKSON — GROOMER OF THE YEAR! MISORVA Adopts Updated Bylaws to Strengthen Leadership and Communication Grand Rapids, Michigan
T
he Michigan Snowmobile and ORV Association (MISORVA) has formally adopted a new set of bylaws aimed at streamlining governance, improving communication, and strengthening its ability to serve as the unified voice of Michigan’s motorized recreation community. Bylaws serve as the legal foundation of every nonprofit organization, defining how it functions, outlining the rights and responsibilities of members, and ensuring accountability. MISORVA’s updated bylaws, approved by the general membership, reflect the organization’s continued commitment to transparency, efficiency, and forward progress. “These updates position MISORVA for the future,” said Karen Middendorp, Executive Director. “Reducing the board size and empowering ad hoc committees
will allow us to move more quickly, respond to member needs, and strengthen communication between local clubs and statewide leadership.” As part of the organization’s renewed structure, MISORVA members also elected new officers. Karyn Robare of Munising will assume the role of President; Rich Rottier of Newberry has been elected Vice President; and Scott Matteson of Delton will take on the combined duties of Treasurer/ Secretary, building on his previous role as Secretary. Under the newly adopted bylaws, each district will elect two representatives to serve on the MISORVA Board of Directors alongside the elected officers. These representatives will act as key liaisons to share successes, address challenges, and ensure that local trail issues and opportunities are clearly communicated at the state level. The reorganization builds on a foundation laid five years ago when

Owner Chad SIler Who got me into snowmobiles? My Dad, Patrick Siler. We never raced snowmobiles but he bought a 1978 TX 340 identical to what his dad had my grandpa John H Siler and I rode that sled until there were no cleats left on the track. “Wish I would have bought that sled.” Fast forward 15 years my brother In-law Rory Brower and I pulled 2 sleds out of a barn from my grandpa Harv Bekins. 1969 Johnson wide track and a 1972 Yamaha Sl 292. My cousin Nick Siler said “you have one of the fastest production single cylinder sleds of the era you should come race the TC250.” And that is how Brothers racing started that has since turned into Siler Racing. My brother in-law Rory Brower and I wrenched daily to make a bullet proof sled for the TC250. To this day we are the only team to finish 4 races consecutively, top ten all four races. With out my Uncle Mike Siler aka the king of Polaris sleds we would have never qualified for the race. My Uncle Mike walked over and handed me a set of 10” competition carbides and said “put these on your skis, but I need them back after qualifying.” We did exactly that with drilling new holes in the skis and that sled handled like it was on rails! No matter how much I begged to keep the carbides my Uncle Mike was set in stone on his word. We ended up buying 3 different sets of carbides and tested them. The day before the race we put the sled through the pond in a soft spot and it was 6ft under water. We had one choice to make get the sled out, dry it out, and drive 3 hours to the race In continued on page 28

Siler Racing DRIVER Khloe SIler Who got me into racing? My Dad, Chad Siler, I grew up watching my dad race and wanted to race like he did. My first race was on a 120 mod sled that Nick Siler built, I was 9 and from that point on I was hooked! I took a year off until I was able to race the Enticer 250. I love that sled but it’s now slow to me… when my dad let me race his 440 I was scared but confident that I knew how to handle the sled. It’s fast and I am excited that the sled is mine now. I have always looked up to Haven Bouverette and have wanted to achieve her level of success in this sport “she’s a bad ass!” And she has helped me a lot with giving advice at the races. I have raced for multiple teams and am so grateful for the opportunity, Mark Haven, and Tucker Haven I raced their 250 at eagle river, Jason Bridget with JB performance I have raced his 340 and Arron Giles who has made sure his F440 is ready every weekend for me. I can not thank all of these people enough, you have trusted me to race your sleds and even unfortunately crash them…. Thank you! My goals as a driver. Be as fast as my Dad! I get to race Silers Racing Polaris TXC440 in the adult classes this year as my dad is focusing on enduro racing. I knew the time would come I just didn’t think it would be this soon. the morning. Zero hours of sleep, 6 monsters later we raced and finished 6th in our first ever race let alone an “enduro.” Little did we know we entered the gauntlet and thought this was snowmobile racing. We then learned about fair races and found Bevra. My brother in-law Rory Brower and I won every single cylinder class in the state while hauling the sled in the back of a truck… that’s when we met Ryan Wolfe and Ron Wolfe. We as a team decided to join together and race under the name Wolfe Motorsports. I raced their 440 Fanner in every class possible and learned along the way. Again won every class possible in the state of Michigan except for MIRA. I won 2 championships at Bevra, won the Bevra cup in 2021 and won at Eagle River in 2021 in the liquid class with a Fanner. I then bought the war ridden sled from Ron Wolfe and started

The biggest win weekend I had was at Raber Bay I won $490 through class wins. No it wasn’t a championship but the $490 was awesome! I
n recent articles I’ve written about volunteerism and various people who are involved with some form of volunteer participation helping to make the I-500 possible each year. Volunteerism IS without question the “back bone” of the International 500 Project. What’s unique about this project is, there isn’t another professional racing event anywhere that is operated and managed by individuals who unselfishly give their time and abilities while taking pride in volunteering. Let that sink in for a moment as you read on. Volunteering in today’s fast lane society certainly isn’t what it used to be back when the I-500 was first organized. That being noted, I gotta tell ya folks, maybe times have changed and there’s a need to reinvent the positive benefits to volunteering in general. Regardless, what has kept the I-500 Project alive and successful for decades is the integrity of a special group of people that make up the International 500 family of volunteers. For over five decades the volunteers have pulled together to get things done so the I-500 is always ready for the invasion of fans and race teams alike. What must be done in preparations to host this world class spectacle would blow your piston if you know what it takes, believe me.

So, where did it all begin and who manages the massive number of volunteers involved each year? Let’s back up a bit to the very beginning of this exciting and unique event. It all began with the group of guys who first introduced the idea of attempting to run a snowmobile 500 miles like the Indianapolis 500 auto race. They took their dream seriously and decided to take on the task of building the I-500 Project. At that time, it was a small group of people who simply reached out to friends, neighbors and relatives to help put their plan into action. After a couple winters of racing the project was showing positive interest and growth from both sides of the border. Progress towards making this event special each winter was gaining momentum. They realized they had to become more organized and committees were formed made up of volunteers to help spearhead the project. More time
passed and long after the inception of the I-500 the group decided they needed to put together a Board of Directors to oversee the project in general and the committees as well. It was determined the I-500 would have one Board Chairperson and two Co-Chairs. These three titled officers would collectively manage meetings to maintain an organized atmosphere and progressive discussions benefiting the project. Each board member including the three titled officers would have to chair more than one committee. To this day, all I-500 Board members have multiple committees and committee volunteers to manage. Since the formative years, there have been many volunteer members who’ve served on the board of directors with a true passion to continue striving to improve the event each year in every aspect possible. The leadership from a board member perspective has always continued on page 36
What attracted you to the I-500? There was an article in the Sault Evening News in December of 2002 asking for volunteers to come to help build the track. I called the number on that ad and got paired with Greg, Burch, Terry & Plumber and learned how to build the track, watering the track. What Year was your first year as a Volunteer and the first year you got on the board of directors? The first year as a volunteer was December 2002. Back then, I drove a Chevrolet S-10, which was only rearwheel drive. We would park down next to the small watering shack we had, and the hill down to the track is only salted or sanded on race morning, so some days, trying to leave when we were done watering at night was a challenge to get to the top of the hill, only being rear-wheel drive, and the hill would be slippery. My first race was the 35th Race held on February 1st, 2003. I was standing out in the crowd. After the race, I didn’t know about a workers’ party or anything of that sort, and communication back then wasn’t the greatest. together and start preparing for the next year. I would always see a bunch of vehicles show up on some Thursdays when we were building the track. It was people coming to the board meetings. In December of 2004, I began attending Board Meetings, and I was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board in October of 2005, which, for those years, I oversaw the office, information technology items, did track construction, and assisted with media relations. For all of these years I lived about 20 minutes away from the track. Then, in 2010, I moved out of the area to the Marquette area, which is 3 hours away from the track. In 2010, I resigned from the board but remained a volunteer and would take a week off work and pay my own hotel, and stay in the Sault for race week and volunteer. In 2017, I was reelected to the board of directors of where I remain today. Today I still reside in the Marquette area, and make the 3 hour drive to the track for meetings. Then I roll into Sault Ste Marie usually
What is your fondest memory during your time serving as an I-500 Board Member? In 23 years as a volunteer and 13 years as a board member, there have been a lot of memories. I have gotten to meet some amazing people, including

Enter the five decades of outstanding I-500 board members and quality leadership. All collectively with a shared vision for what they hope the I-500 will grow to be moving forward. The need for operating standing committees was formed and assignments given to board members who would direct their respective committee of volunteers towards accomplishing their committee objectives. Throughout the years the past and present board members have passed projects on to one another that have improved the project in general making it a first class project, Every single board member who has served over the decades can take pride in the results of their long standing project committees and the people who’ve worked within them to achieve their objectives and goals. 10 days before race day, and oversee all of the off-track setup. Being a board member for the I-500, what is your favorite part of race week? I have two absolutely favorite parts. The first one is Saturday, Race Morning, in the few minutes after we go green at 10 am. At that point, everything is working exactly as it is supposed to. Typically, for the first hour or so, there are minimal troubles or difficulties to work through, and everything is easy for a short time. The second favorite part is the Monday after race week, when everything is taken down, put away, and I am usually still at the track, doing the final few things.

Senators, Representatives, Governors, Veterans, Racers, and more. The stories they tell are most memorable. I have seen so much for so many years; I have seen families grow up at our event. Even my own son began attending race week in 2019 at 11 years old. Every year, he would take 2 weeks off from school and attend the race and volunteer for race week. For 2019-2025 with the exception of the COVID year, when we didn’t have a race. I have seen this track change greatly in all of the years I have been around. Thinking back to 2001, when I answered that newspaper article. The property looked quite different then. Back then, timing was only a small timing building and did not have tech as part of it. Tech was in a separate building that was located where the pit food trailers are now. The watering shack was a single-story shed with a wooden bench, a fire hydrant, a fridge, and a small heater. The maintenance building had a dirt floor, which was a mess to work with. The top of the bunker was the old lap counting building and was where the track building crew would watch the race on race day. In 2011, it was converted to VIP space. Then the press center was a single-story building up on poles. In 2013, during a rainfall event, the building slid down the hill and had to be demolished. The new building began construction in 2015 and was first used in 2018. In
2024, the parking lot was expanded, and in 2025, the steel structure was added where the vendor tent once was, and the parking lots were expanded further. There is not a single fond memory, but many over the years, and more are being made daily. As an I-500 board member, what aspiration do you have for the future of the I-500? Seeing where we were 22 years ago to where we are today. I am always trying to expand our capabilities and thus make our experience even more enjoyable. This is in part by modernizing our processes and capabilities. A lot of times, these additions seem small but have a huge impact. Some of these expanded capabilities that I have added include, first, installing race results monitors in 2009, upgrading that system in 2018, website / online registration integrations, Facility Surveillance system installed in 2024 to discourage break-ins. FLO Sports live stream was expanded to the Beer Tent in 2025. Future projects planned include installing fiberoptic connections between buildings, updating access point controls, and expanding facility surveillance capabilities. Updating of Volunteer and Safety Team Support facilities and more. I look forward to all we can accomplish and how different will things will look 20 years from now. •

A
s winter approaches, Northern Power Race Park is turning their focus from summer events back to their traditional winter events. This year will mark the third year of the Michigan Snocross series being held at the park. The park has invested over the last two seasons to create massive snocross tracks, considered the biggest regional tracks in the country. A strong winter last season only amplified that ability and created fantastic racing each weekend. That will continue this year, as they have purchased another snow groomer and another snow gun. This will allow the park to operate even more efficiently during grooming breaks and try different track designs with multiple groomers running. We started to see this in the second half of the season, as they began creating tracks resembling the national snocross circuit. The addition of another snow gun increases their snow-making capabilities, allowing them not to rely on natural snow. SNOCROSS The park’s primary event over the previous couple of seasons has been their regional snocross series, Michigan Snocross. That will continue to be the focus this season, with 11 event dates on the calendar. The 2025-26 season will kick off the season on December 6 and 7 with the first two rounds of the snocross season. That will lead to the return of the USA vs Canada Border Cup on January 3-4. This event was exciting, and once again, riders from both countries will come together to battle for the right to take home the Border Cup trophy. Team USA will be looking to claim the trophy back from the inaugural winners, Team Canada. The event will count as the third and fourth points races of the Michigan Snocross season. continued on page 44

The season will continue with regular Michigan snocross rounds 5 and 6 on January 17 and 18. The park will be trying a new weekend event by splitting the seventh round of the series into a night and day event. The Pro classes will compete on Friday night under the lights on January 30, followed by the youth and amateur classes racing on the morning of January 31. NPRP will then switch the track over to a ditchbanger track that night. The eighth round of the series will be held on Sunday, February 1 and will be hosted with a ditchbanger race the day before. The schedule will return to a two-race weekend format on February 28 - March 1 with rounds nine and 10. The season will conclude with a split race day on March 27 and 28. Once again, the pros will hit the track under the lights on Friday, March 27, while the youth and amateur will wrap up their championship in the morning on Saturday, March 28. The season will conclude with a banquet on the evening of Saturday, March 28. While the snocross has been a big hit, another event is taking the park by storm and picking up momentum over the last couple of winters. What started as a few one-off events to fill the schedule at the park turned into a points series for the

ditchbanger races last season. The series returns this year with some changes, additions and a bigger event schedule as well. DITCHBANGERS As the series grows, tweaks are made to the rulebook. Some of the biggest changes to the rules include limiting the classes in which REV and Firecat snowmobiles can compete for the upcoming season. After being allowed to compete in every class, the rules now permit those sleds to compete in the Modified, Vintage Snocross and 2004-2010 divisions of the series. For the upcoming season, there are developmental rules in place as well. In the Beginner division, the top seven in the championship points at season’s end will be elevated to the Amateur series for the next year. In the Amateur division, a maximum of 900 points can be accumulated over three seasons. After accumulating over 900 points or competing in the division for over three years, you will be advanced to the Pro class. A year of competing is racing in four or more events. While some changes have been made, a new division has also been added. As the Youth / Junior Ditchbanger division was added. This division is for riders between the ages of 8-13. in 2003 or before. The class was designed as an in-between class for a 200 rider and the older ditchbanger classes. A new addition for the 2025 season will also be a team points championship. The top three teams that earn the most overall accumulated points through their qualifying races and final points will be recognized at the last race. To compete for the team championships, you must have a team name and roster submitted to the park before the first round of the series. The team must be comprised of five riders and each rider has to choose their primary series they are competing in. A rider is not allowed to switch points series during the season and you cannot substitute riders on your team. The final change to the series is the addition of more races to the race schedule. The season will open on Saturday, December 20. The second round of the series will be on Friday, January 16.
