This area is behind the Swinburne Hawthorn Campus connected TB and TC buildings. There is an entrance to the workshop in the TB building and there is also a wet area shop room on the other side. This area is predominantly a service area for recycling, garbage and storage. There is also parking available in this area.
Proposed Site Intervention
Increasing activity in this area by adding a small play area that can be used by the 2 Child Care centres: Swinburne Child Care and Hawthorn Occasional Care. Provide additional seating and areas to tie dogs and provide water.
Increase activity in the area by making a connection to the Central Gardens park through the use of biophilia linking a walkway to Wakefield Gardens increasing recreational traffic. Adding drinking stations for both pedestrians and dogs. Increase lighting through lighting installations and add art murals to make the area more interesting at night. Creating local interest for social media selfies.
