THE AI WAVE:

EL TROMPUDO

For about 10 years I’ve been telling people in Berkeley to make the trek to El Sobrante to try some of the best tacos & burritos I’ve found in the East Bay. Now with a location near campus, El Trompudo is expanding their reach. I wish there was a go-to item I could tell you to get but I’ve literally been satis ed with anything I’ve ever ordered there. But if I had to pick a favorite it would be a tie between burrito with al pasor or their quesabirrias. 2441 Dwight Way, Berkeley Open 10AM - 11PM.

IS THE HYPE REAL?

GLOM

Admittedly we are a bit late on this one. It snuck in a soft opening back in late May maybe even early June. It’s easy to miss as it’s buried between industrial auto shops and furniture stores on San Pablo Ave. Its’ de nitely worth searching for and it’s perfect for a low key date night but make a reservation because it lls up quick. Cozy/intimate atmosphere, curated selection of boldly avored dishes along with wine & beer. 1233 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley 4:30PM - 9:30PM during the week and open for lunch on the weekends.

If you follow nancial news at all, you’ve seen the headlines regarding the highly anticipated IPO’s: SpaceX just listed last month and raised roughly $75 billion and nearly reached a $2 trillion valuation(!) Anthropic (Claude), led its S-1 on June 1st, targeting a valuation of nearly $1 trillion, potentially one of the three largest IPOs in American history. OpenAI (Chat GPT) is targeting a con dential ling with a fall debut. Databricks is expected to le in the second half of the year. The 2026 IPO pipeline is the most anticipated since 2021. If you follow local news you’ve most certainly read about the impact that the money coming from AI is having on the housing market in San Francisco. It’s a story you’ve heard before: the market is white hot, homes are selling for WAY above the list price and in order to compete, you need all cash to win the bidding wars. Normally I like to prove the headlines wrong but other than needing all cash, the headlines are very accurate.

Our team actively hosts open houses year round, even if it’s not a home that we’re listing. The reason we do this is to get rst-hand knowledge of what’s actually taking place in the real estate market in real time. Remember, by the time most real estate data hits the news cycle it’s 2 months old. “We want to get in before the wave of IPO’s price us out.” was something I actually heard
