Page 1

Introduction

• This testing guide applies to Vuori and all its subsidiaries and divisions and is not to be reproduced, in part or in whole, without written permission from Vuori and SGS.

• This Restricted Substance Testing Guide should be used in conjunction with the following SGS / Vuori Testing Guides:

o Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines

o Appendix A: Vuori SGS – Performance/Physical Testing Guide

o Appendix C: Vuori SGS – China GB Testing Guide

• Refer to the Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines for further details.

Vuori / Vendor / Laboratory Responsibilities

• Refer to the Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines for further details.

Regulations

• Refer to the Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines for further details.

Vuori Testing Policy

Restricted Substance Testing

• Required 1 time per year per color, if there are no changes in the supply chain

• Additional Colorway Packages need to hold valid full package testing report

Testing Procedures

Testing Program

The Vuori testing program must be followed as per the Test Requirement Chart in the Vuori/SGS manual for Restricted Substance Testing

All treatments such as dyeing, washing, or finishing must be completed prior to submitting for testing.

If any finishing application is applied at the garment stage, where chemicals are applied fabric/trims, testing must be completed on the full garment. It is the supplier’s responsibility to indicate to SGS if there is a finish at the garment stage.

Restricted Substance Testing (RS):

• Restricted Substance Testing is required on all components of all products as directed by Vuori unless the trims are from the nominated trim supplier:

o YKK

o Brand ID

o Avery Dennison

o Supplier must identify nominated trims on test request form

• Restricted Substance Testing must follow the AFIRM testing requirements. This applies to test methods and limits only This does not apply to the testing Matrix. Vuori follows the Vuori RSL Testing Matrix found in this manual.

o New to AFIRM? – Start Here! https://afirm-group.com/start-here/

o AFIRM Policy Statement

▪ AFIRM has created the following Restricted Substances List (“AFIRM RSL”) to assist and guide supply chain participants seeking to increase product quality and safety or reduce their environmental impact by limiting the use of certain substances in apparel and footwear. For more information about AFIRM, visit www.afirm-group.com

o All new fabrics and colors must be tested at the launch of each season.

o The Full Test refers to the full scope of testing a material.

• If the applicant is selecting a Color Test Package, it is mandatory to provide the Report # and Date of the Full Package Test to be included on the Test Request Form.

o The Color Test refers to the testing of a material’s additional colors. Color testing on a material can only be performed if a Full Test has been completed.

o Bisphenol Policy: From March 2025, Vuori will be following the AFIRM RSL limits for Bisphenols. For clarity, BPA, the limit is 10 ppm. For all other Bisphenols, the limit is 200 ppm each. These are the AFIRM recommended limits.

Test Request Form (TRF)

• The applicant must fully complete the correct Vuori/SGS Test Request Form in SGS SMART There are 3 forms to choose from. The TRF to use for this testing guide is:

o Restricted Substance Test Request Form – used for all Restricted Substance Testing for all levels of tested as requested

• If the applicant is selecting a Color Test Package, it is mandatory to provide the Report # and Date of the Full Package Test to be included on the Test Request Form.

• Refer to the Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines for further details.

Turnaround Time

• Refer to the Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines for further details.

RSL Testing Failure

• In the event of RSL testing failure or non-compliance, suppliers are required to follow direction from the Vuori Chemistry team including instructions to implement corrective actions, quarantine materials and request re-tests

• As instructed by the Vuori Chemistry team suppliers should only request re-tests on the failing chemistry

• Suppliers should not ship material unless a PASS test result is achieved or unless the Vuori Chemistry team clearly says that material can be shipped

Sample Size

• Fabric and Garments must be of production quality and must contain all accessories (buttons, zippers, trims, etc.) that will be used in bulk production. The actual manufacturer must make the sample on production machinery.

Special Note: The below sample sizes are for the basic package testing only. Additional tests that are not covered in the basic package may require additional samples.

Composite Testing

Composite Testing is allowed up to 3 colors/substrates for all applicable restricted chemical testing. If Composite testing results are “Interim Fail” or “Fail”, individual testing is to be performed automatically.

When the Individual Lead in Paint and Substrate Requirements are 90 ppm and 100 ppm respectively, the composite testing requirements per CPSC shall be as follows (Calculation is based upon Smallest Sample Weight)

For 2-in-1 Composite

< 72 ppm < 80 ppm Pass 72 ppm ≤ Results < 180 ppm 80 ppm ≤ Results < 200 ppm Interim Fail

180 ppm ≥ 200 ppm Fail

For 3-in-1 Composite

72 ppm

ppm

270 ppm

• PASS: Clear pass for all parts in the composite mix – The requirements are slightly lower to cover the margin of error possible when mixing parts for a single test.

• INTERIM FAIL: Results in this range are most likely a fail for all parts, but individual part retesting can be requested to confirm if any of the individual parts pass.

• FAIL: Clear fail for all parts in the composite mix – Based on the math, all parts would be over the allowable individual limits.

Test Reports

• Refer to the Vuori SGS Testing Manual Guidelines for further details.

Restricted Substances AFIRM Modifications

The existing international regulations and directives regulate the usage of chemicals in products and conceptualize the use of chemicals in each stage of production processing in various industries. In addition to the existing legal requirements, there are stringent requirements from NGOs and consumer product safety activities, which are often targeting chemicals which are not regulated. All this reflects the high concern for the negative impacts that various restricted substances impose onto human beings and the environment as well as the increasing driving force for product safety control.

The AFIRM RSL and the below table provides the framework of the various chemical safety measures adopted according to the legal requirements for consumer products among countries as well as for all due diligence purposes. e.g., REACH ANNEX XVII, POP Amendment, EU General Product Safety Directive, CPSIA, California Proposition 65, China GB 18401, Japanese Law 112, KC Mark, Taiwan CNS 15290 “Safety of Textiles”.
