A Final Word of Encouragement

ou have heard it said, “This, too, will pass.” But you see that is the point—and, quite frankly, the danger. Don’t let this unique time pass without theological reflection at each juncture in the journey.

"Redeeming the time" is a biblical expression that means making the most of every opportunity, using one's time wisely, and not wasting it. The phrase comes from the New Testament book of Ephesians 5:16, which states, "Redeeming the time because the days are evil." This verse is urging believers to make the most of every moment and to use their time wisely, knowing that they are living in a fallen and evil world.

The idea of "redeeming the time" is similar to the idea of stewardship, which is the biblical concept

of managing one's resources, including time, money, and abilities, in a responsible and accountable manner. Redeeming the time means using one's time for meaningful and productive purposes that honor God and advance his kingdom. It involves making intentional choices about how one spends one's time and being mindful of the opportunities and responsibilities that come with each day.

A Prayer

Dear God, whose majestic vision has become a panorama of redemptive history;

As I embark on the journey of writing my doctoral dissertation, I ask for your guidance and wisdom;

Grant me the focus and discipline to stay on track and complete this task with excellence;

Give me the courage to pursue new ideas and insights, and the humility to seek feedback from others

May I approach this work with a sense of purpose, and may the results of my efforts bring glory to your name; and,

Help me to stay grounded in your love and to seek your will in all things.

I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
