We are going to have a Sock Hop on September 12th, at 6:00 pm. Please bring appetizers to share…and be ready to dance and have a great time. If you want to, you can sport your best 50’s outfit…poodle skirts and madras shirts are welcome so come join the fun. On the third Saturday is the food giveaway from Feed it Forward. All residents are welcome. Our last bar-b-que for the Summer will be on the 20th at 2:00pm. It’s a potluck so bring a dish to share, and the Board will provide the hot dogs, buns, and condiments. It really is a good time, so I hope to see you there.

PARK-WIDE CLEANUP October 9th – 13th It’s time for our Fifth Annual Park-Wide Cleanup! Let’s all take advantage of this opportunity to tidy up our homes and yards as we head into fall. Key Dates & Details: Friday, October 9: Dumpster delivered in front of the Clubhouse. Friday afternoon – Monday midday: Residents may drop off items in the designated area (or until the dumpster is full). Saturday & Sunday: Volunteers will assist with pickups for residents needing help. Monday, October 12: Final drop-off day. Large appliances can be placed at your curb for garbage day pickup. Tuesday, October 13: Dumpster will be removed. Recyclables Area: A separate drop-off area will be available to the left of the Dumpster for the following items:

Small appliances Anything with a cord Scrap metal Clothing, bedding, shoes – Must be in bags CDs, batteries
Large Appliance Pickup: You don’t have to wait for Cleanup Week! Large appliances can be picked up at any time during the year—just contact the Park Manager to schedule. Volunteer Assistance: Al Lydon and a team of volunteers will provide item pickup on Saturday and Sunday for residents who need help. Depending on demand, we may need to limit large items per household—so please contact us early if you need assistance.

The Story of the Chairs: It Takes a Village Patti Glenn, a member of the Board, suggested that the La Siesta Village Community provide chairs for guests and participants at the cornhole games. The Board agreed that purchasing new chairs would be a wonderful addition. With research and help from fellow members Kellie Porter and Linda Chamberlin, the group found the perfect chairs—at the right price and in stock at the Fairfield Walmart. Linda and Patti then made the trip to pick them up. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen.
The cornhole, bocce, and horseshoe players do appreciate the new seating! Come join the fun Tuesdays at 5pm.

Please Welcome Autry and Margarita Morris Please join me in giving a warm welcome to our new neighbors Autry and Margarita Morris in #84! Both have been in Napa some time, Autry was born here! He and his beautiful wife Margarita are very into fitness. In fact, they met at a health center here in town and the rest is history. They have 2 daughters and grandchildren. Also included in their new home is the cutest little, tiny fluffy dog, a Shit Su I believe. She could give lessons on bark manners. Not one sound out of her when we went for our visit. Sweet! Autry worked at Budweiser in Fairfield, was an Air Force reservist and then was employed by La Cancha Health Center. Margarita is also employed by a fitness center in town. She is very interested in having a water aerobics class for us here at La Siesta on Tuesdays. Please look for that information to follow and sign up for her class if you are interested. She is going to write an article about fitness for our newsletter too so look for that in the next few months. Along with fitness, they are both interested in helping to provide emergency fire and earthquake readiness information. We will be looking into having either the fire department or police come to talk to us about safety and prevention. If you happen to see them, please introduce yourself. Page 8

“Try to remember the kind of September...” I love that song. September has a way of inviting you to look back with gratitude while gently stepping forward into a new season. As summer winds down, maybe you naturally begin new routines. It’s a wonderful time to ask, “What’s one thing I’d like to carry with me into the fall” Maybe it’s a daily walk, a few quiet moments with your morning coffee, or making time for a good friend. After years as a fitness trainer, I’ve learned that balance is something to practice—not something one and done. The same is true in life. I lose my balance from time to time, then gently find it again.
The Balance Pause
1. Stand near a chair or countertop for support if needed. 2. Stand tall and gently shift your weight onto one foot for a few seconds. 3. Lower that foot and switch sides. 4. Finish by taking one slow breath and asking yourself, “What keeps me grounded?” Balance isn’t about standing perfectly still. It’s about making small adjustments with confidence. This September, may you remember the good, welcome what’s next, and stay grounded as you continue to grow. ✨Cinder Shine (Cinder Ernst) is the author of Terminally Smiling, a book about finding joy and resilience in the middle of life’s hardest challenges. LA SIESTA VILLAGE COMMUNITY MEETING MINUTES The meeting was called to order at 10AM on June 6th, 2026. Reading of the minutes of the February 28th 2026 meeting were read by Bonnie Baham and accepted. The Treasurer’s report was read by Patti Glenn and accepted. COMMUNITY’s current balance is $4435 and CASH on hand $80.00. Income from donations and 50/50 raffle $484.00. BINGO’s current balance is $2928 and CASH on hand $557. New software has been ordered. Treasurers Report was approved. Shauna Marshall was introduced as editor of the LA Siesta Village Newsletter. She explained how to submit articles to the newsletter and that anyone is welcome to participate. The untimely delivery of the newsletter was explained that the printer was always having breakdowns with and the printer having a problem with the delivery of ink. NAME CHANGE-It was proposed at the last meeting that La Siesta HOA be renamed to La Siesta Village Community as we are not a HOA and do not pay dues. A vote was taken by hands up to accept the change and approval of the bylaws. A motion was made and seconded to accepted to make the change.

LA SIESTA VILLAGE COMMUNITY MEETING MINUTES UPCOMING EVENTS were announced by President Jeanette Mahoney. Water aerobics will start on Thursday at 9:30 & 10:30AM. Shirley Hymson, Margarita Morris and Jeanne Emerich have volunteered to teach. Don’t forget the Feed it Forward food giveaway Sat Aug 15th at 2PM, open to all residents. Potluck will be on June 21, July 19 Potluck at 2PM and Napa Valley Voices at 5:00 PM. An extra Bingo game will be on Sunday August 9 at 3:00, come early for treats. OPEN DISCUSSION. Jane Holland suggested that we have someone come and talk about wills and trusts. There is controversy about a will going into probate vs trusts. Hopefully, we can find someone who knows. She also suggested that the Police, Fire Dept, or PGE give an Earth Quake seminar. We all need to know how to turn off the water and gas. Some residents are available to share this knowledge. Not many people raised hands to continue coffee and donuts. The Community meeting will continue to be scheduled on Saturdays. There was a discussion about flyers put in the mail tubes to remind about events. This was liked by some and disliked by some. The BOARD will have to make a decision on whether to continue making them. It would probably be well attended if we could put together a class on how to use iPhone and email. Just a suggestion from the group. Speeding again was a big issue. Lots of complaints, no solutions available to date. MEETING ADJOURNED at 11AM SEPTEMBER 2026

UPDATE on EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS By Jerri Lynn Matoza
Last year, the Napa Police Department gave a presentation on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the La Siesta Village Clubhouse with the following general advice per Officer Kenneth Trimble. 1. Residents need to have available and accessible a LIFE FILE located on the back or front door of their homes, or on a refrigerator, with personal family contacts, information for a relative, friend, job associate (names, addresses, phone numbers) for First Responders in an emergency event. 2. In case of an emergency (fire, flood, earthquake) TURN OFF THE GAS HOOKUP before evacuating. If a resident does not have a crescent wrench to do this, they can call PG&E and request one. 3. Residents should leave as soon as a WARNING is given. LEAVE EARLY. Once an EVACUATION ORDER is given, First Responders DO NOT RETURN TO THE MOBILE HOME PARK. 4. EMERGENCY BAG: Have one prepared with 48 hours of supplies packed (nonperishable food, water, clothing, battery operated radio, flashlights, cash) Keep this in your vehicle. 5. Non-ambulatory residents should let HOA/Office know who and where they are in the park. This information is extremely important so that those residents can be assisted quickly by First Responders. 6. EVACUATION CENTERS: GO TO THE SITES AVAILABLE (churches, Fairgrounds, schools) 7. For Emergency/Non-Emergency calls to the Napa Police Department, call (707) 257-9223. Residents are encouraged to call anytime if they notice or are aware of a situation happening that appears DANGEROUS OR THREATENING. 8. Websites to download: Protect.genasys.com, Readynapacounty.org (register on the app) for information on emergencies, power outages, air quality and weather info 9. Residents can obtain the Emergency Preparedness Evacuation Plan (2010) from Mike Wade, Site Manager. REMEMBER: In the event of an Emergency, you need to be prepared before the emergency happens.
