The Outdoor Edit Effortless Living for Summer

Outdoor living for Summer 2026 feels quieter, more grounded and intentionally effortless. This season is less about a dramatic redesign and more about a thoughtful refresh. Spaces are feeling collected rather than overly styled. Spaces are relaxed, lived-in and still beautifully refined.

The biggest shift is the move away from anything too polished. Natural materials are taking center stage with woven textures, plaster finishes, raw ceramics and imperfect stone elements that feel organic and timeless. The look is warm, tactile and inviting without trying too hard.

The good news? This is not a startfrom-scratch moment. Small updates can completely transform a space. A sculptural side table, textured vessel or woven chair can instantly soften and elevate an outdoor setting. Low-profile tables and rounded silhouettes continue to create a more relaxed, grounded feel.

Neutral palettes remain essential with warm whites, soft taupes and sun-washed sand tones creating a calming foundation. Greenery becomes the statement piece — olive trees, loose arrangements and slightly wild foliage bring life and movement without feeling overly manicured.

Another key trend is versatility. Homeowners are gravitating toward pieces that transition seamlessly from indoors to outdoors, creating flexibility and effortless style throughout the home.

Ultimately, Summer 2026 outdoor living is about creating spaces that feel natural, comfortable and easy to enjoy. It’s all about tactile, understated and perfectly sun faded.

Originally introduced in 2020, the newest interpretation blends timeless sophistication with enhanced performance and modern versatility designed for everyday wear.

The new chronograph seamlessly combines precision, comfort and durability. Built on a shared love for fragrance, design and creating meaningful experiences within the hom e. Seventh

Avenue Apothecary

For over 14 years, Seventh Avenue Apothecary has transformed the art of home fragrance into a sophisticated lifestyle experience. Founded in 2012 by a mother-daughter team of Phala Pesano and Jessica Reisner with deep Tampa roots, the female and family-owned company has grown from hand-pouring candles locally into a nationally recognized luxury fragrance brand.

Inspired by Tampa’s coastal beauty, historic charm and effortless elegance, Seventh Avenue Apothecary is known for artisan candles, reed diffusers, room sprays and apothecary-inspired products designed to create warmth, ambiance and connection within the home. For Tampa Bay METRO’s Home + Design issue, the team shares how fragrance has become an essential layer of modern living and entertaining.

METRO: What inspired the creation of Seventh Avenue Apothecary?

Jessica Reisner: We wanted to create home fragrance products that felt luxurious, yet deeply personal. Scent has the power to completely transform how a space feels emotionally, and we loved the idea of helping people create meaningful experiences at home. Tampa’s warmth, coastal lifestyle and historic character heavily influenced our aesthetic and identity.

METRO: How do you approach creating fragrances for the home?

Reisner: We think about fragrance the same way an interior designer considers texture, lighting or color. A scent should enhance a room without overwhelming it. We focus on layered, sophisticated fragrance profiles that feel elevated, welcoming and timeless.

METRO: Which fragrance has resonated most with customers?

Reisner: Ocean Mist + Moss continues to be a favorite. Inspired by growing up around Florida’s waterways, it captures the feeling of salt air, coastal greenery and peaceful relaxation. Customers connect with the nostalgia and calming escape it brings into their homes.

METRO: What trends are you seeing this season?

Reisner: People are creating homes that feel intentional, cozy and layered. Clean luxury fragrances featuring woods, herbs, citrus, greens and soft florals are especially popular, along with design-forward pieces that double as décor while elevating entertaining spaces.

Vinyl Vibes

The Rise of Hi-Fi L istenin g Lounges in T a mpa Bay

A new wave of entertainment is redefining what it means to enjoy a night out. Inspired by Japan’s iconic kissaten and jazz kissa culture, hi-fi listening bars are emerging as some of the region’s most intriguing destinations. Rather than focusing on crowded dance floors and booming club music, these venues celebrate the art of listening.

At the heart of the concept are meticulously curated vinyl collections, premium analog sound systems,

handcrafted cocktails and intimate environments designed for conversation and connection. The emphasis is on quality over volume, where guests can appreciate every note while enjoying thoughtfully crafted food and beverages. Whether you’re a serious audiophile or simply seeking a more sophisticated evening experience, Tampa Bay’s growing collection of listening lounges offers something refreshingly different.

In Between Days

Long before hi-fi listening bars became one of hospitality’s hottest trends, the inspiration for In Between Days began in a tiny jazz kissa tucked away in Tokyo’s Shibuya district.

Owner and founder Zach Ashton spent years traveling to Japan and found himself repeatedly returning to a modest listening café called Mary Jane. “What struck me most was the sound,” recalls Ashton. “It was so immersive that it felt as though the musicians were performing right there in the room with you. People weren’t just listening to music in the background; they were experiencing it together.”

That experience became the foundation for In Between Days, Florida’s first Tokyo-style listening bar. Housed inside a nearly 100-year-old St. Petersburg bungalow, the intimate space feels more like discovering a hidden neighborhood gem than entering a restaurant. Vintage 1970s Klipsch Cornwall speakers anchor the room, while a carefully curated vinyl collection spanning African records, Thai disco, jazz, and underground electronic music creates an ever-changing soundtrack.

“We wanted to create a place where music wasn’t simply part of the atmosphere but an essential part of why people came,” says Ashton.

The culinary program is equally thoughtful. Chef Justin Shwetzer draws inspiration from his Hawaiian upbringing and extensive travels throughout Japan, creating an evolving menu that responds to seasons and ingredients. Signature dishes include a Tokyo-inspired ramen crafted with more than 30 ingredients, hamachi with yuzu kosho, and acclaimed short-rib dumplings.

Adding to its growing acclaim, In Between Days earned a coveted Michelin recommendation in the 2026 Michelin Guide, cementing its place as one of the most exciting culinary and

cultural destinations in Tampa Bay.

As one of Florida’s few dedicated craft sake bars, the beverage program is another highlight. Led by certified sake sommeliers under the direction of Beverage Director Noah Sain, the team offers an ever-changing selection of premium sake alongside guest favorites such as the Ube Colada and Smoked Old Fashioned.

Beyond food and music, Ashton hopes In Between Days serves as a gathering place for creativity and connection. “We want people to discover a new record, try a sake they’ve never heard of, or experience a musician up close in an intimate setting,” he says. “Those moments create lasting memories and help foster a sense of belonging.”

DJ Rob Saunders

Easy Tiger Hi-Fi Lounge

Opened in April 2026 in St. Petersburg’s Edge District, Easy Tiger Hi-Fi Lounge is quickly becoming a destination for music lovers seeking a deeper listening experience.

Created by Matt and Victoria Kaye, along with partners Chris Stone and Craig Dragoonis, the concept was designed to foster a creative, sound-focused environment.

“We wanted to create an intimate, high-fidelity listening lounge that encourages connection through music,” says Kaye. The venue’s sound system features Klipsch Heritage Series speakers paired with McIntosh amplification, while Music Director DJ Casper curates a rotating lineup of local and visiting DJs specializing in vinyl-only sets and immersive musical journeys.

The design is equally intentional. Developed with Oliver Shaw and Chris Stone of T2THES, Easy Tiger blends Art Deco influences with elements of Brutalism to create a moody, sophisticated atmosphere. Curved architectural details, sleek furnishings, a marble bar and layered lighting contribute to a space that feels refined yet approachable.

“It’s a room designed around sound,” says Kaye. “Every detail contributes to the overall experience.”

915 1st. Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33705 @easytigerhifilounge

Alter Ego

Located in Tampa’s vibrant Water Street district, Alter Ego offers a more energetic interpretation of the music-focused lounge. Created by Proper House Group and opened in 2024, the venue blends elevated cocktails, curated music programming and contemporary design into one stylish destination.

The monochromatic interior features intimate seating areas alongside communal gathering spaces that encourage mingling and dancing. Cocktails pay homage to music legends with names like Like a Virgin and What’s Your Fantasy, while the menu offers everything from caviar service and Cacio e Pepe fries to larger plates from sister concept Ash.

Music remains the driving force. Beginning nightly at 9 p.m., local and regional DJs create evolving soundtracks that range from emerging club sounds to Latin beats and dance-floor classics. The result is a venue that feels both sophisticated and vibrant, where the music shapes the mood from the first cocktail to the final song.

The Next Wave...

The hi-fi movement continues to gain momentum with several highly anticipated concepts expected to debut la ter this year.

Peppermint Lounge

Hospitality veteran Ty Rodriguez is bringing a music-first concept to Tampa Heights with the opening of Peppermint Lounge. Inspired by New York City’s legendary 1960s-era venue of the same name, the space will combine vinyl listening, live music, photography and hospitality in a highly curated environment.

More than a nightlife destination, Peppermint Lounge will also support local arts education through the Recycled Tunes program of the Gasparilla Music Foundation by providing after-school music programming for students impacted by reductions in school arts funding.

“Music shaped a lot of my life, and it’s shaped this concept,” says Rodriguez.

“Being able to open our doors during the day and give kids access to instruments and lessons is just as important as what happens at night.”

Tokyo Swim Club

From the team behind MICHELIN-starred Kōsen, Tokyo Swim Club is set to open atop the historic Casa Gomez building in Ybor City’s Gasworx District. The rooftop destination will blend retro Tokyo-inspired design with vinyl-driven programming, craft cocktails, sushi, yakitori and panoramic city views. The space will be anchored by a central bar that extends the outdoor experience with pool umbrellas, lush greenery and layered lounge seating, creating a vibrant, resort-like atmosphere that feels both relaxed and nostalgic.

“We’re not trying to keep up with culture,” says Director of Beverage and Sustainability Mike Western. “We’re here to help shape it.”

As Tampa Bay’s nightlife landscape continues to mature, these listening lounges prove that sometimes the most memorable nights begin by simply slowing down, settling in and listening. M

Sanctum in the City A St. Petersburg Condo Designed

to Exhale

In a city known for its vibrant waterfront energy and everevolving skyline, a 2,200-square-foot condominium in St. Petersburg offers something refreshingly unexpected: stillness. Designed by Rob Bowen of Rob Bowen Design, this threebedroom, three-bath residence—aptly named Sanctum—is less about making a statement and more about creating a feeling.

From the moment you step inside, the space sets a tone that is both immediate and enduring. “The goal from the beginning was simple,” Bowen shares. “We wanted the space to feel like an exhale. Calm, warm, layered… not sterile, not overly designed.” That philosophy became the guiding thread throughout the project, shaping every decision from materials to layout.

Rather than chasing a specific aesthetic, Bowen and his team leaned into a more intuitive approach. As the design evolved, so did the intention. “It became less about chasing a look and more about dialing into a feeling,” he explains. “We kept pulling things back, refining, softening. It ended up more nuanced than where we started, which is always a good sign.”

The homeowners played an integral role in achieving that balance. With an appreciation for both comfort and design, they embraced a vision that prioritized livability without sacrificing sophistication. “They love comfort, but they also have a great eye,” Bowen says. “It wasn’t about going overly casual—it was about finding that sweet spot. Pieces you actually want to live in, but that still feel elevated.”

That balance is evident throughout the home. Plush seating invites you to linger, while a curated mix of textures— rich woods, soft textiles, and subtle metal accents—adds depth without overwhelming the senses. Nothing feels precious or untouchable. Instead, the design encourages use, interaction and ease.

One of the most defining aspects of the project, however, is what’s not there. In an era where more is often mistaken for better, Sanctum embraces restraint. “The biggest thing was their willingness to not overdo it,” Bowen notes. “Most people want to keep adding. They were open to restraint, which is rare.” That trust allowed the design to breathe, letting

materials and craftsmanship take center stage rather than competing for attention.

Working within a 2,200-square-foot footprint presented its own set of challenges, particularly when it came to scale and flow. Bowen approached the space with a careful eye, ensuring that each element contributed to a cohesive whole. “It’s not a huge footprint, so scale and flow were everything,” he explains. “We focused on keeping things cohesive so the eye moves easily through the space.”

One of the more subtle yet impactful solutions came in the form of drapery. Used not just as a decorative element but as a soft architectural layer, it helps define the space while maintaining an airy, open feel. “The drapery softens everything and almost acts like an architectural layer without making the space feel heavy,” Bowen adds.

Unlike homes that hinge on a single dramatic focal point, Sanctum reveals itself gradually. Its beauty lies in the layering—the quiet interplay of materials and finishes that create a sense of depth and harmony. “It’s not one big moment, which is kind of the point,” Bowen says. “Nothing is screaming for attention, but together it creates a strong feeling. It’s quiet, but it sticks with you.”

Functionality, too, is seamlessly integrated into the design. For Bowen, the concept of form versus function is a false dichotomy. “If it doesn’t function well, it’s not good design,” he states. Every piece in the home is chosen with intention, from durable fabrics that stand up to daily life to furnishings that prioritize comfort without compromising style.

The result is a space that feels as good as it looks— perhaps even better. “There’s no tension in it,” Bowen explains. “You’re not worried about sitting somewhere or touching something. It’s relaxed but still pulled together.” It’s this sense of ease that transforms the home from a beautiful environment into a truly livable one.

Looking back, Bowen points to the power of editing as one of the project’s greatest successes. “Knowing when to stop is hard,” he reflects. “And I think we got that right here. It feels complete without feeling overworked.”

In the end, Sanctum is a study in subtlety—a reminder that great design doesn’t have to shout to be heard. Sometimes, the most impactful spaces are the ones that simply feel right.

As Bowen puts it, “It’s a space that doesn’t try too hard— it just feels right the moment you walk in.” M

Where Luxury Lifestyle Is Beautifully Designed

Davis Islands’ Crown Jewel

Step inside Davis Islands’ crown jewel and discover a residence where luxury is not merely an idea, but it is a lifestyle, thoughtfully curated and beautifully lived. Built in 2015 and set across 3.5 acres, this extraordinary estate has quickly become both a landmark and a destination for those who appreciate refined living and grand-scale entertaining.

From the moment of arrival, the home’s presence is undeniable. Spanning an impressive 19,935 square feet across three levels, the residence offers six bedrooms, four full baths, and two powder rooms, along with two doublecar garages that accommodate both everyday convenience and elevated hosting. Yet beyond its scale, what truly defines this property is the experience it delivers and one that seamlessly transitions from intimate family moments to unforgettable gatherings.

In 2025, the homeowners partnered with a design team led by Debra Ackerbloom to thoughtfully reimagine the interiors, ensuring the home continues to evolve while honoring its architectural roots. “Every aspect from the flooring and architectural details to the furnishings, fixtures, and finishes was thoughtfully updated,” Ackerbloom shares. “We wanted to strike a balance between an inspired, contemporary look and the preservation of its timeless appeal.”

That balance is evident throughout the home. Traditional architectural elements provide a sense of structure and permanence, while curated furnishings and layered materials introduce a fresh, modern sensibility. Rich textures, bespoke millwork and a carefully edited palette create a sense of cohesion, allowing each room to feel distinct yet connected.

Photography by Nicolas Ferris

At the heart of the home, the kitchen is both functional and inviting—designed not only for daily living but also for effortless entertaining. An adjacent butler’s pantry enhances its versatility, allowing for seamless service during larger gatherings. Whether hosting a philanthropic event or a celebratory dinner with friends, the layout ensures that every occasion unfolds with ease.

The home’s living spaces are equally intentional. Grand yet welcoming, they are designed to encourage connection while maintaining a sense of comfort. “Our design inspiration was rooted in enduring elegance,” Ackerbloom explains. “We blended classic architectural materials with luxurious textiles and mixed-media art to create a setting that feels both warm and refined.” The result is an environment that feels collected rather than curated—where each piece contributes to a larger story of craftsmanship and style.

Art plays a defining role throughout the residence, adding depth and personality to each space. Carefully selected works complement the architecture without overwhelming it, creating moments of visual interest that unfold as you move through the home. This layered approach elevates the interiors, transforming them into an immersive experience rather than a series of rooms.

Despite its grandeur, the home remains deeply personal. Designed with family and friends in mind, it offers a variety of spaces that cater to both privacy and celebration. Quiet corners invite relaxation, while expansive entertaining areas set the stage for lively gatherings. It is this versatility that makes the residence not just impressive, but truly livable.

The marble and wood floors and the grand wrought iron staircase add focus and anchor the downstairs space. Five fireplaces add warmth and anchor rooms throughout the home. The game room is particularly striking with the wood paneled walls and balcony views down to the billiards table and American Shuffleboard for added entertainment.

Ultimately, this Davis Islands estate is more than a showcase of design—it is a reflection of a lifestyle defined by connection, celebration, and timeless beauty. Every detail, from the architectural framework to the finishing touches, has been considered with intention.

Here, luxury is not about excess, but about experience. And in this remarkable home, every experience is elevated. M

Safeguarding Your Waterfront Sanctuary

With Mr. Electric of Tampa Bay

For homeowners along Bayshore Boulevard, Davis Islands and the coastal communities of Clearwater, waterfront living offers unmatched beauty, but it also requires thoughtful preparation during hurricane season. The back-toback impacts of Hurricanes Helene and Milton served as a powerful reminder that protecting your home means safeguarding far more than windows and landscaping. True resiliency begins with the electrical systems that keep your estate secure, functional and comfortable.

While traditional storm preparation often focuses on shutters and sandbags, experts at Mr. Electric of Tampa Bay emphasize the importance of protecting your home’s electrical infrastructure. Florida Residential Code requires electrical systems in flood-prone areas to meet designated flood elevation standards, making proactive inspections more critical than ever.

Submerged panels, damaged meter base and compromised service cables can significantly delay poststorm recovery. In many cases, utility providers will not restore power until a licensed electrician verifies the system is safe and fully operational.

A comprehensive pre-storm inspection offers homeowners valuable peace of mind while helping protect sophisticated home investments such as smart home technology, wine storage systems, security systems and electric vehicle charging stations.

Whole-home surge protection also provides critical defense against unpredictable power surges during severe weather events.

As hurricane season approaches, contractor availability becomes increasingly limited. Taking preventative action now can help avoid costly repairs and extended outages later. M

Protect your home and investment with a complimentary 27-point Storm-Readiness Assessment from Mr. Electric of Tampa Bay. Call 813.575.5941 or visit www.mrelectric.com/tampabay to schedule your consultation.

Get Hurricane Prepared With Solutions From Weather Tite Windows

Hurricane season is once again upon us, and for many Tampa Bay homeowners, memories of the storms from two years ago still linger. Now is the time to prepare, and Weather Tite Windows offers a variety of hurricane protection solutions designed to help safeguard your home and family.

One innovative option is the EZ Max Hurricane Screens from Weather Tite Windows. Unlike traditional hurricane protection, the EZ Max screens feature a unique see-through design, allowing homeowners to safely monitor conditions outside during severe weather events. From strong wind gusts to rising water levels, homeowners can maintain visibility while remaining protected indoors.

Designed for long-lasting durability, EZ Max screens feature reinforced edging that resists fraying and stretching, allowing for repeated use year after year. The system also utilizes high-quality zinc metal buckles tested to withstand up to 1,800 pounds of force. These corrosion-resistant buckles

provide superior grip and reliability during extreme weather conditions.

From the brackets to the straps, every component is crafted using premium materials built to last. EZ Max even incorporates Tenara thread, a high-performance material made from the same technology as Teflon. While more costly than traditional thread options, it offers exceptional strength and weather resistance — one reason many competitors choose not to use it.

In addition to EZ Max Hurricane Screens, Weather Tite Windows also offers corrugated aluminum and vinyl panels, roll-down shutters and additional storm protection solutions tailored to your home’s needs.

Are you hurricane ready? Protect your largest investment now with customized solutions from Weather Tite Windows. Complimentary in-home consultations are available throughout hurricane season. M

Sapphire Club Tampa Redefines the Art Of The Night Out

By Ronda M. Parag
Photography by Modern Media Group

In a city where Tampa’s culinary and nightlife scenes continue to evolve at a rapid pace, Sapphire Club Tampa is introducing something altogether different — an immersive luxury destination where fine dining, live entertainment and elevated nightlife exist seamlessly under one roof. Co-Founder and Managing Partner Stephen Hickey describes the concept as far more than a restaurant or nightclub. Instead, Sapphire Club was intentionally designed to create a complete sensory experience from the moment guests arrive.

“The vision for Sapphire Club Tampa came from recognizing that guests today are looking for more than just dinner or nightlife independently,” says Hickey. “We saw an opportunity to create a destination that blends elevated dining, world-class hospitality, live entertainment and vibrant late-night energy in a way that feels seamless and sophisticated.”

Inspired by iconic supper clubs in cities like Miami, Las Vegas and New York, the venue reintroduces a sense of glamour, occasion and anticipation to a night out in Tampa Bay. Guests can enjoy premium seafood, steaks, curated cocktails, live performances, DJs and theatrical entertainment all within one evolving environment.

“It was everything,” Hickey says of creating a fully integrated experience. “Every decision we made was centered around creating a curated guest journey. The lighting, music, entertainment, architecture, textures and culinary execution all work together to create an atmosphere that feels energetic, elegant, and intentional.”

That atmosphere comes to life through the visionary work of interior designer Enrique Crespo, who crafted the club’s dramatic organic modern aesthetic. Rich textures, sculptural forms, moody architectural details and layered lighting combine to create a cinematic environment that feels both intimate and transportive.

“The inspiration for the space comes from the iconic supper clubs of the 1950s,” explains Crespo. “It was an era when dining out was rooted in elegance, ritual and occasion. The intention behind the design was to reintroduce that sense of anticipation and elevated social culture through a contemporary organic modern lens.”

Crespo says the environment was intentionally designed to inspire guests to embrace the experience fully including the club’s sophisticated dress code. “The space is designed to inspire people to get dressed again — to step into an environment that feels special, immersive and worthy of celebration,” he says. “From the dramatic lighting and rich material palette to the intimate atmosphere, every detail encourages guests to elevate how they show up.”

The result is a venue that feels more aligned with the luxury hospitality experiences of major metropolitan cities while remaining distinctly Tampa. Guests move effortlessly from refined dining into a vibrant late-night atmosphere featuring evolving entertainment, elevated sound and visual production, experiential cocktail presentations and intimate VIP spaces.

“We approach hospitality as emotional connection,” says Hickey. “Guests remember how a place made them feel long after they remember what they ordered.”

As Tampa continues its rise as a national lifestyle destination, Hickey believes Sapphire Club is poised to become an iconic part of the city’s next chapter. “We want to continue pushing boundaries in hospitality, entertainment and guest experience while building something the city can be proud of,” he says. “This is only the beginning for Sapphire.” M
