A Resonant Night with Photocopy, POWDR, and Colliding

A REsonant Night with Photocopy, powdr & Colliding by Granny Anarchy Readers, our adventure begins many moons ago when our plucky, intrepid (awkward and inept) Granny Anarchy ventured forth to Resonant Head to see Ribbon Skirt (because Granny is a huge fan of the indigenous-led post-punk Ribbon Skirt) opening for Wombo (Granny now also really likes arty, indie rock Wombo). Also on the bill that night was local indie post-punk band powdr, whom Granny was previously unaware of (guesswhatGrannywassuperimpressed). After the show, Granny started recommending powdr to others. So, when I saw that powdr was going to be playing Resonant Head NOT ON A SCHOOL NIGHT, I was very excited. No idea who Photocopy and Colliding were. I was going to see powdr for the second time - and I hadn't had a chance to get their EP “Settle Pain” on CD yet, so I was still unfamiliar with any songs. (I am old, I mostly listen to CDs on my 20-year-old car's player, whateveniselectricity.) I was going in cold. (Which is also how I first saw one of my all-time favorite bands, Skating Polly.) Resonant Head is a charming small venue in Capitol Hill, 400 SW 25th Street, at the intersection of Hudson Avenue. It has a capacity of 250, a rather retro vibe, and in my experience, the staff has always been polite and efficient.
