Sachem Building Comes Down to Make Way for Holbrook Park By Matt Meduri
A long-awaited and fought-for project in Holbrook is finally underway. Tuesday morning saw the initial demolition of a former administrative building of the Sachem Central School District on the corner of Union Avenue and Smith Avenue, bounded by the cul-de-sac at the end of Coates Avenue. The building, long out of use, generally has been seen as an eyesore to the immediate community and a waste of four acres of otherwise open and green space.
