ME Printer January-February 2026
The printing and packaging industry stands at a defining moment, where technology, sustainability, and consumer expectations are converging faster than ever. In this issue of ME Printer, we explore the breakthroughs, challenges, and transformative trends shaping our sector—both in the Middle East and across the global landscape. Our lead feature examines how AI-driven search optimization is rewriting the rules of visibility for print and packaging companies. With conversational search platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini becoming mainstream, businesses in our region must learn to speak the language of AI—prioritizing expertise, authenticity, and educational content to stay discoverable in a crowded digital world. In “Inks at a Crossroads,” we delve into the fast-evolving global ink market, where sustainability, food-contact safety, and digital workflows are becoming the new performance benchmarks. From water-based chemistries to extended-gamut printing and smart pressrooms, the industry’s direction is unmistakably toward cleaner, faster, and more intelligent production. Healthcare packaging is also undergoing a renaissance. “Reinventing Pharma Packaging” highlights breakthroughs in recyclable blister materials, smart packs, serialization systems, and AI-enabled inspection technologies. As regulatory pressure intensifies, packaging is no longer a passive shell—it is becoming a strategic asset in patient safety, sustainability, and brand integrity. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence is reshaping creative industries as well. Our article on “The Future of Graphic Design in the Age of AI” explores how designers can evolve from purely visual creators into strategic storytellers who blend human insight with intelligent tools. Rather than replacing designers, AI is pushing the profession toward reinvention. Brand protection remains a critical priority in an era of rising counterfeiting. “The Hidden Role of Printing Substrates in Brand Security” reveals how materials themselves—paper, board, glass, metal, and plastics—have become silent guardians equipped with covert features, digital identifiers, and material biometrics. We also spotlight the upcoming Gulf Print & Pack 2026, which promises to be a pivotal event for the MENA region. With sustainability, smart packaging, automation, and digital transformation at its core, the show reflects the ambitions of a region rapidly positioning itself as a testbed for next-generation print technologies. Alongside these in-depth features, this issue brings you the latest news, trends, and market updates from across the Middle East and beyond—tracking investments, innovations, policy shifts, and regional developments that continue to influence the global print and packaging landscape. As always, our mission is to deliver insight, clarity, and direction at a time when our industry is evolving at unprecedented speed. Whether you are a printer, converter, designer, supplier, or brand owner, we hope the perspectives in this issue help guide your next decisions and inspire your next innovations.

BOBST Presents Packaging Insights, Innovations in Tunisia
The BOBST roadshow in Tunisia allowed converters to explore new opportunities for growth and operational excellence in all packaging segments
BOBST brought the packaging community together in Tunisia’s coastal city of Sousse in early December for a two-day event. The forum was designed to introduce the latest innovations and sustainability across labels, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and corrugated packaging. Held on 3 and 4 December 2025, BOBST welcomed more than 150 attendees to the Sousse Pearl Marriott Resort & Spa for a programme packed with presentations and networking opportunities. The first day of the roadshow was dedicated to the folding carton and corrugated packaging sectors, while the second catered to label and flexible packaging converters. The agenda featured a broad contingent of expert speakers from BOBST, alongside representatives from partner companies Baumer hhs, Esko,
KURZ, Packitoo, Reifenhäuser, and Rossini, who collectively addressed the most important topics currently affecting the industry. “The BOBST roadshow in Tunisia allowed converters to explore new opportunities for growth and operational excellence in all packaging segments,” says Eric Pavone, BOBST Business Director AFMETC Region. “With a strong speaker programme and strategic partner presence, the event perfectly showcased BOBST involvement and leadership in North Africa. And I’m pleased to report that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.” For the paperboard industry, the focus was on the new BOBST NOVAFFG flexo folder gluer. This complete box making solution, which has an optimised footprint and lean layout, offers a highly com-
petitive price-performance ratio. The ETERNA portfolio of converting solutions was also presented as another cost-effective option for corrugated packaging. Folding carton specialists could learn about BOBST’s revolutionary zero-fault packaging concept, and the DIGITAL MASTER 55 all-in-one platform configured for light cartons. On the flexible packaging front, the modular VISION CI flexo press and multi-technology NOVALAM 800 laminator were in the spotlight, presenting a strong combination for efficient production. And for inline flexo labels, the star of the show was the MASTER M5, an automated versatile label and flexible packaging press. Other topics covered included BOBST Connect – the digital cloudbased platform, the digitalisation of gravure printing, the latest innovations in coating and metallization, excellence in tooling performance, equipment financing solutions, and BOBST support and services. Partner innovation and collaboration formed a big part of the programme with talks from KURZ on new trends in digital embellishment and sustainable finishing, and innovation in gluing technology courtesy of Baumer hhs. Packitoo HIPE, the AIpowered software that configures, calculates, and generates quotes, was also presented, while the Esko talk outlined the advantages of its collaboration with BOBST. The future of film extrusion was discussed by Reifenhäuser, and the challenges of sustainable innovation in printing equipment by Rossini.

Industry Unites to Launch the Sustainable Print Manifesto
18
A unified sustainability framework, created by and for the global print industry, to advance responsible print production, use and end-of-life recycling An industry-wide working group has announced the launch of ‘Sustainable Print Manifesto’, an independently developed, industry-wide initiative created to provide a simple, practical, and universally relevant framework to increase sustainability across all print sectors. The project is grounded in the belief that the print industry must collaborate more, not less, if it is to accelerate progress. Today, too many sustainability efforts remain fragmented – shaped by local regulation, technology limitations,
individual company priorities, or regional nuances. The new Sustainable Print Manifesto aims to rise above these silos, offering a globally relevant blueprint for continual improvement, shared learning, and improved collective progress. The manifesto’s purpose is simple: to create a shared language for sustainable print, and one that demystifies complexity and empowers every print business to take meaningful action to be more sustainable. Whether commercial print, packaging, wide format, textiles, labels, or industrial manufacturing, the Manifesto is deliberately print-agnostic and compatible with any process, technology, or business model. Unlike traditional top-down
standards, the Manifesto has no single author. It has been shaped collaboratively through 11 workinggroup meetings, a multi-stakeholder summit in Valencia, a series of webinars, and multiple in-depth articles. Over the past 12 months, printers, manufacturers, brands, retailers, technologists, consultants, and trade bodies have contributed insight, challenged assumptions, and co-authored a document designed to unify the industry around clear, actionable sustainability principles. Brands and retailers have also been consulted throughout its development, ensuring the document aligns with real-world requirements, expectations, and future-facing sustainability priorities. Rather than
replacing the work of associations or existing frameworks, the Manifesto is designed to act as a neutral, unifying north star – one that sits above technical and regulatory silos and is accessible to any business, anywhere in the world. Clear Set of 9 Practical Principles At the heart of the Manifesto is a set of nine practical, non-competitive principles that any organisation can adopt immediately. These principles focus on real-world actions that improve environmental performance today – without large investment or radical operational change. They include designing print for purpose; producing efficiently; choosing better, lower-impact materials and inks; minimising waste; reducing carbon and energy consumption; improving water stewardship; applying finishing only where it adds value; recycling and reusing operational materials; and communicating impacts transparently using accurate, data-led reporting. Grounded in lifecycle thinking, the nine principles provide a universally relevant, accessible framework that scales for businesses of any size, in any sector, anywhere in the world.
Founding Partners and Supporting Associations To make this independent initiative possible, a group of visionary founding partners have provided financial and strategic support to underwrite its development. These include HP, CarbonQuota, Gallus, Domino Printing Sciences, FuturePrint, Sun Chemical, Nazdar, Kavalan, io.tt, CPI Books, The PackScout, CIMPRESS, and Bespoke. The manifesto also has the backing of key global trade bodies, including BPIF & IPIA (UK), VIGC (Belgium), and PRINTING United Alliance (USA). Call to Action The Sustainable Print Manifesto is now available for download, and all organisations within the print and packaging value chain are invited to
read it and share it, action its suggestions and even pledge their support. While this document will continue to evolve as the collaboration grows, today it marks a collective commitment from across the industry to create a clearer, more coherent, and more impactful pathway towards a sustainable future for print.
The ambition is to create a global community committed to learning, acting, and helping each other advance sustainable practice – ultimately positioning the print industry as a beacon of responsible innovation for the wider manufacturing world
ME Printer January-February 2026
Towards a Collaborative, Unified, and Ambitious Future As the initiative grows, industry organisations, suppliers, printers, finishing companies, technology providers, and brands are invited to pledge their support. The ambition is to create a global community committed to learning, acting, and helping each other advance sustainable practice – ultimately positioning the print industry as a beacon of responsible innovation for the wider manufacturing world. Representing one of the founding partners, HP’s Carlos Lahoz comments, “I believe in the value of print and the positive impact it has in the world. But I also believe that there’s still room for improvement. To accelerate innovation and progress, collaboration is key. Collaboration built on trust and transparency, towards a shared goal. This is what this manisfesto aims for, and this is why I pledge to its principles.” This commitment to
collaborative progress is echoed by many of the organisations backing the Sustainable Print Manifesto.

Sappi and UPM to merge European graphic paper businesses
ME Printer January-February 2026
The proposed joint venture represents a decisive response to the structural changes in the European graphic paper industry
24
Sappi and UPM-Kymmene have announced the signing of a non-binding letter of intent to form a non-listed, independent 50/50 Joint Venture for graphic paper. This Joint Venture will bring together Sappi’s European Graphic Paper business with UPM’s Communication Papers business in Europe, the UK and the US. The transaction will be subject to the fulfilment of a number of regulatory and other conditions, including shareholder approval. The parties intend signing definitive agreements during the first half of calendar year 2026 and expect to close the proposed transaction by the end of calendar year 2026, once all conditions precedent are fulfilled. Commenting on their decision to create the Joint Venture, Sappi Limited CEO Steve Binnie and UPM President and CEO Massimo Reynaudo said: “The proposed joint venture represents a decisive response to the structural changes in the European graphic paper industry, offering a path to strengthen its resilience and provide long-term commitment and supply security to customers.” Commenting on the benefits to
Sappi, Steve Binnie said: “Sappi is very excited by the potential that this joint venture, if approved, will bring. We have been searching for a solution to secure a long-term profitable future for our European business. This innovative partnership with UPM will deliver a focused business bringing the best assets and people together to create a strong future which can ensure sustained support for our customers and can also ensure that the European manufacturing base is protected. He continued: “The proposed joint venture provides a unique opportunity to unlock value for our shareholders. The transaction delivers on Sappi’s Thrive strategy to reduce our direct exposure to the graphic paper segment and enables us to reposition our portfolio towards higher-growth, higher value segments. Sappi’s direct sales volume exposure to the graphic paper segment will decrease to below 20% after the transaction is completed and our 50% shareholding in the joint venture is anticipated to generate more value than the standalone Sappi graphic paper business. He concluded: “Ultimately the transaction will enable Sappi to reduce debt in the medium term
and in the future the cash dividends from the joint venture will further lower debt. ” The launch of this proposed joint venture takes place against a backdrop of sustained structural decline in demand within the graphic paper market alongside overcapacity and low utilisation rates of assets. This significant erosion has been caused by a number of factors including a structural shift toward digital media, declining print advertising revenues, falling newspaper and magazine circulations, and the rapid adoption of electronic media and workflows. This deterioration has been further intensified by rising costs (in particular energy) in Europe. Recent trade tensions and tariffs have further disrupted trade flows resulting in increased Asian exports to the European Union (the EU). Marco Eikelenboom, CEO of Sappi Europe commented: “To remain competitive and sustainable in the long term, consolidation is needed. Consolidation will contribute to a more robust and resilient European graphic paper industry, safeguarding security of domestic supply for the printing sector.” The key benefits of the consolidation of Sappi and UPM’s graphic paper assets are: • By strategically reallocating production volumes to the most efficient paper machines, the Joint Venture will achieve more sustainable capacity utilisation and stronger operational performance, while continuing to serve customers with a broad portfolio of European graphic paper products. • The operational synergies created through the Joint Venture (which are anticipated to be at least €100 million per annum once the Transaction is implemented) provide a pathway to realise greater value from the combined asset base, delivering enhanced profitability and stronger cash-flow generation compared to what the independent operations could achieve on their own, to the benefit of all stakeholders including sharehold-
ers. • By optimising capacity utilisation, enhancing operational efficiencies and continuing to invest in decarbonisation, the Joint Venture can reduce its overall climate impact, helping to advance the EU’s Clean Industrial Deal objectives. The proposed transaction will be structured to enable the parties to respectively contribute the assets detailed below to the newly formed Joint Venture with Sappi and UPM as founding shareholders and each holding 50% of the issued shares. Sappi and UPM will sell their respective businesses and assets mentioned below to the newly formed Joint Venture with a combined enterprise value of €1,420 million excluding the value of the expected synergy benefits. At closing the Joint Venture will raise debt to fund the purchase prices payable to Sappi and UPM respectively. The Joint Venture’s dividend policy will be to distribute all excess cash to its shareholders. The Sappi business is valued at €320 million which, based on an FY2025 EBITDA of €64 million represents a 5x multiple. Sappi will transfer pension and other liabilities of €53 million and net assets valued at €267 million to the Joint Venture. In return Sappi will receive cash of €139 million and 50% shareholding in the Joint Venture. The UPM business is valued at €1,100 million, which represents a
4.6x multiple of the last reported 12 months to September 2025 EBITDA. UPM will transfer pension and other liabilities of €360 million and net assets of €740 million to the Joint Venture. In return UPM will receive cash of €613 million and 50% shareholding in the Joint Venture. Sappi will contribute the following assets: Gratkorn Mill (Austria); Ehingen Mill (Germany), Maastricht Mill (The Netherlands), and Kirkniemi Mill (Finland); as well as Sappi Europe’s wood supply Joint Ventures. UPM will contribute their Com-
munication Papers business assets which are located at the following UPM mills: Augsburg (Germany), Schongau (Germany), Nordland paper lines 1 and 4 (Germany), Rauma including UPM RaumaCell (Finland), Kymi (Finland), Jämsänkoski paper line 6 (Finland), Caledonian (United Kingdom), and Blandin (United States of America). During the transition phase, both Sappi and UPM will provide relevant operational and administrative support to the Joint Venture to ensure it can operate optimally.

The Holiday Catalog Returns: A Paper Dream in a Digital Winter
ME Printer January-February 2026
While digital ads vanish in seconds, printed catalogs remain in the home for an average of three weeks
26
Each holiday season, the world seems to glow with digital intensity—screens flicker late into the night, algorithms predict our wants before we articulate them, and online shops race to keep up with demand. Yet in this fast-moving landscape, shoppers in many countries are quietly rediscovering something slower and surprisingly delightful: the printed holiday catalog. Once assumed to be on the brink of disappearance, it is now reclaiming a meaningful place in global shopping culture. Across regions, the appeal is strikingly consistent. In a recent multimarket study, 68% of UK households said that receiving a printed catalog “marks the beginning of the holiday season.” In Japan, nearly 60% of families still consult seasonal gift guides as part of their New Year tradition. In Germany, catalog circulation for winter campaigns rose by 11% in 2024, suggesting a growing appetite for tactile shopping resources. This renewed interest is not about nostalgia; it is about clarity and calm in a season that often feels overwhelming. A catalog slows the tempo. Instead of scrolling through endless grids, shoppers settle into a different rhythm. In Canada, 52% of shoppers say catalogs “help reduce digital
overload” during the holidays. In India, where multi-generational households shop collaboratively, 41% of families report using printed brochures to coordinate gift planning. Even in sun-soaked Australia, where the holidays are spent outdoors, retailers note that catalogs are often carried to cafés and beaches—absorbed leisurely and shared freely. Touch remains one of print’s quiet superpowers. Research in Italy and France shows that physical media increases memory retention by up to 20% compared with digital equivalents. In the United States, a 2025 consumer study found that nearly half of Millennials and Gen Z feel a stronger emotional connection to a brand when they receive something printed. This emotional response deepens when people interact with the pages—folding corners, circling items, leaving notes. These gestures, while simple, anchor the shopping experience in a way that digital interfaces can’t replicate. But the modern catalog is not an analog relic, it is a hybrid tool. Retailers worldwide are merging print with technology in thoughtful ways. In Spain, a home décor brand integrated QR codes into its winter catalog and saw a 38% increase in
mobile conversions. In South Korea, a beauty company introduced AR-enabled catalog pages that let customers preview products; the result was a 25% rise in average order value. Across the U.S., brands report that customers who engage with both catalog and digital channels spend 20–30% more than online-only shoppers. Print inspires; digital completes. Longevity gives catalogs another strategic advantage. While digital ads vanish in seconds, printed catalogs remain in the home for an average of three weeks, according to tracking studies across seven countries. During this time, they are typically revisited multiple times—61% of households report returning to the same catalog two or more times before making final decisions. And unlike digital media, which competes for instant attention, a catalog rests quietly until someone is ready to engage. Sustainability, once a concern, is becoming a pillar of modern print. In Europe, over 70% of catalog paper now comes from certified sustainable forests. Many North American printers have shifted to recycled fibers and low-VOC inks, while Asian manufacturers are adopting waterless and energy-efficient production methods. These advancements have made it easier for brands to embrace print without compromising environmental values—something consumers increasingly notice and appreciate. The resurgence of the holiday catalog is not a sentimental return to the past. It is a response to the emotional and sensory void left by an over-digitized world. In a season defined by speed, alerts, and algorithmic predictions, a printed catalog offers something more grounded: a pause, a tactile moment, a spark of imagination. It has re-emerged not because people long for yesterday, but because they long for depth in the present. And so this year, as festive lights shimmer across cities and screens alike, a simple printed booklet continues its quiet journey into homes around the world, inviting shoppers to slow down, dream a little, and rediscover the pleasure of turning a page.

Global Brands Tap SGI Dubai for Rapid MEA Growth
ME Printer January-February 2026
Dubai’s role as a distribution and partnership gateway makes SGI Dubai particularly valuable for global exhibitors
28
In an industry where technology cycles are compressing and customer expectations are rising, exhibitions are no longer judged by scale alone. The most valuable shows are those that consistently deliver qualified buyer access, real conversion outcomes, and a clear sense of where production, applications, and business models are heading next. For exhibitors that are seriously exploring growth outcomes in 2026, please reach out to ranjit@iecdubai.com That is precisely where SGI Dubai has secured its position in the region’s
trade calendar. As the 29th edition approaches in 2026, SGI Dubai is not merely preparing for another year on the show floor. It is reinforcing its authority as the Middle East and Africa’s most commercially relevant platform for printing, signage, imaging, visual communication, and allied production technologies, while actively widening the international exhibitor mix that fuels innovation and competition. For global manufacturers and solution providers, SGI Dubai’s proposition is straightforward, this is a marketplace where decisionmakers arrive with defined needs, budgets, and urgency. It is a show built around real applications and
real procurement, supported by a regional economy that continues to invest in retail, hospitality, transport infrastructure, destination development, real estate branding, events, and experiential environments. A show built on outcomes, not optics The long-term credibility of any B2B exhibition rests on what happens after the stands come down, machines sold, partnerships formed, distribution agreements signed, and pipelines built that convert into
measurable revenue. SGI Dubai’s recent editions have been increasingly characterised by precisely these outcomes, particularly on the equipment side where exhibitors have reported strong on-site sales and high-intent lead generation. In the organiser’s framing, this performance is not incidental, it is the result of a clear positioning strategy and sustained buyer confidence. “SGI Dubai has proven, year after year, that it is the decision-makers’ show,” said Abdulrahman Falaknaz, President of International ExpoConsults (IEC), the organiser of SGI Dubai. “Exhibitors come here to meet buyers who are ready to invest, and visitors come to compare
technologies and make confident purchasing decisions. That emphasis on purchase intent matters, especially as the global print industry continues to evolve towards shorter runs, faster turnaround, greater personalisation, and tighter integration between print and digital customer experiences. In such an environment, a successful exhibition is less about showcasing standalone equipment and more about enabling end-toend capability upgrades—across print, finishing, workflow, content, display, and fabrication.” The macro trend - print is evolving, and investment is rising Far from being a legacy industry, print is undergoing a structural transformation driven by automation, sustainability requirements, and new application demand, from décor and retail environments to packaging, labels, and industrial printing. This is reflected in global market signals. For example, printing machinery demand is expected to expand over the coming decade, as per Allied Market Research, pointing to steady equipment investment even as technology shifts towards more versatile, more efficient, and more sustainable production systems. Equally important are the adjacent segments that now converge on the SGI Dubai show floor: • Digital signage and LED ecosystems are expanding rapidly as brands invest in retail media networks, destination experiences, and smart environments, as per Grand View Research. • Digital textile printing continues to rise on the back of sustainability goals and on-demand production economics, as per Grand View Research. • Large-format printing is expected to grow further as applications widen across retail, events, real estate marketing, interiors, and outdoor branding, as per MarketsandMarkets research. The implication for exhibitors is clear, buyers increasingly want integrated solutions that can serve
multiple application categories with predictable quality, high uptime, and commercially viable operating models. Why the Middle East and Africa is a growth thesis global exhibitors cannot ignore The Middle East and Africa is not one market, it is a connected corridor of diverse economies with a common thread – large scale development and brand-building activity that directly fuels demand for print, signage, displays, and fabrication. From the Gulf’s retail and hospitality pipeline to Africa’s fast-growing urban centres, the requirement for visual communication is expanding. Commercial displays, digital signage, and integrated wayfinding
into one country; they are building reach across the Middle East and Africa from one platform.” International participation is widening—and that is a strategic signal One of the clearest measures of SGI Dubai’s international momentum has been the growing diversity of exhibitor origin markets and the increasing importance of country pavilions. Pavilions tend to emerge when two conditions are met - an organiser can demonstrate commercial conversion, and a market can justify sustained participation by clusters of manufacturers. Recent editions have seen new
national pavilion participation and expanded global interest, an indicator that SGI Dubai is being taken seriously not only as a regional show, but as a global route to market. “SGI Dubai has always been where global innovation meets regional opportunity,” Falaknaz noted. “Our focus for 2026 is to make the platform even more international, more diverse in technology, and more aligned to what buyers in this region need next.” For exhibitors, this expansion creates a healthy competitive environment, more choice for buyers, stronger benchmarking, and higher expectations around demonstration quality, service models, and application support. The show profile - aligned to how buyers actually spend The most effective exhibitions are those that reflect how buyers operate in real life. Print businesses and visual communication suppliers are no longer built around one technology lane. They compete by blending capabilities, wide-format, textile, finishing, display, fabrication, software, and increasingly, automation and data. SGI Dubai’s show profile is built around this convergence. In SGI Dubai 2026, exhibitors and visitors can expect a cross-section spanning: • Large-format and wide-format printing technologies • Digital textile printing and soft signage • Digital signage, LED systems, and display solutions • 3D printing and additive manufacturing applications • CNC routing, laser cutting, engraving, and fabrication • Sign-making materials, inks, substrates, and finishing solutions • Labelling, packaging, coding, and marking systems • Workflow software, colour management, automation, and emerging artificial intelligence applications • Retail display solutions and pointof-sale production ecosystems • Sustainability-oriented innovations across inks, materials, energy usage, and waste reduction This breadth is not a matter of scale; it is a commercial necessity. Buyers increasingly want to assess complete production ecosystems, not

are rising in parallel, driven by new malls, airports, mixed-use developments, transport systems, and destination venues. Market indicators reinforce this direction: • The Middle East and Africa commercial display market is projected to expand meaningfully through 2030, as per Grand View Research. • Africa’s printing market is projected to grow steadily through 2030, as per 6Wresearch. • The Middle East and Africa digital signage solutions market is expected to continue growing at a strong pace, as per Straits Research.
Dubai’s role as a distribution and partnership gateway makes SGI Dubai particularly valuable for global exhibitors. A single exhibition investment can unlock conversations spanning the UAE and GCC, North Africa, East Africa, and parts of the Levant and Central Asia markets that, in many cases, prefer to procure through Dubai-based distributors and regional integrators. This is one of the reasons SGI Dubai has retained strong pull for international visitors and buyers - it is often the most efficient route for multi-market access. “Dubai’s advantage is connectivity—logistics, business confidence, and regional reach,” added Falaknaz. “SGI Dubai sits at the centre of that. Global exhibitors are not just selling

only machine specifications. They want to understand throughput, lifecycle operating costs, service support, training, workflow integration, and the kinds of applications that will drive revenue in the next 24–36 months.

Large-format printing - the cornerstone category evolving fast Large-format remains a primary investment area in the Middle East and Africa because it directly serves the region’s most active demand engines: retail activation, real estate branding, tourism, events, outdoor advertising, and destination development. What has changed is the buyer’s evaluation framework. Speed and quality are no longer differentiators—they are baseline expectations. Buyers now ask harder questions: • Can the system support multiple application types without compromising output quality? • How does the ink and substrate mix align to sustainability and regulatory expectations? • What is the true uptime performance, and how strong is the local service ecosystem? • How effectively does the workflow integrate prepress, colour, finishing, and installation requirements?
environments increasingly use textiles for flexibility, visual impact, and speed of installation. For print service providers, textile capability is becoming less of a niche add-on and more of a strategic growth lever. As per Grand View Research, digital textile printing is expected to continue expanding through 2030, underlining why this category is drawing more equipment investment and more supplier innovation globally. For SGI Dubai 2026, textile is likely to remain one of the most strategically important show zones, particularly for exhibitors offering integrated
This is where SGI Dubai performs strongly, it allows buyers to compare technologies side-by-side and to engage with suppliers in the context of their real application portfolio. For exhibitors, it means the discussion is more advanced— often moving quickly from “what the machine can do” to “how the machine makes money.”
solutions: printers, heat transfer systems, inks, fabrics, finishing, and workflow support.
Textile printing - moving beyond fashion into interiors and branded environments Digital textile printing in the region is expanding across three drivers, sustainability requirements, faster product cycles, and the growing economics of on-demand production. While fashion remains important, it is not the only story. Interiors, soft signage, branded environments, and décor applications are becoming major demand channels. Hospitality projects, premium retail fit-outs, and event
Digital signage and LED: the convergence shaping the buyer’s next decisions Visual communication today increasingly blends printed graphics with digital display networks. Retail brands, airports, malls, hospitality venues, and transport operators are deploying digital signage not simply for “display,” but as part of broader customer experience ecosystems. This has two implications for SGI Dubai exhibitors; 1. Buyers want integrated
propositions - hardware, content management, installation, maintenance, and performance optimisation. 2. Print businesses are increasingly partnering with audiovisual integrators to offer end-to-end delivery, print plus LED, print plus interactive, print plus experiential environments. As per Grand View Research, global digital signage is projected to expand significantly through 2030, and the Middle East and Africa is moving in the same direction—with strong commercial display demand supported by destination growth
and infrastructure programmes. This convergence is reshaping the profile of visitors at SGI Dubai, beyond print service providers, it includes retail groups, project owners, mall operators, fit-out firms, architects, and integrators seeking complete solutions. 3D printing and additive manufacturing - from novelty to practical advantage Additive manufacturing is moving into real commercial workflows across architecture, education, healthcare, prototyping, and customised production components. In the Middle East, this intersects with smart manufacturing ambi-
tions and the region’s interest in digital production ecosystems. Within SGI Dubai’s broader ecosystem, 3D printing is also linked to signage, fabrication, and retail display production—enabling rapid prototyping, customised fixtures, and shorter development cycles. For global exhibitors in this space, SGI Dubai offers a buyer base that includes not only print businesses, but also architects, interior designers, engineers, education providers, and industrial users looking for practical production outcomes. Knowledge and capability building - keeping the show aligned to the future SGI Dubai’s authority is reinforced when it offers more than product display, when it advances industry conversations and capability. Recent programming has increasingly focused on the operational realities that decision-makers care about: • Workflow optimisation and automation • Reducing waste and improving sustainability outcomes • Faster turnaround and better job costing discipline • Workforce skills and training as a competitive differentiator • Artificial intelligence applications that improve efficiency and creativity
The exhibitor case for SGI Dubai 2026 - access, conversion, and multi-market reach For manufacturers and solution providers planning 2026, the case for SGI Dubai can be summarised in three strategic advantages.
invest exhibition budgets in 2026, SGI Dubai stands out for a simple reason - it is a show where commercial outcomes are the organising principle. It sits at the intersection of three powerful forces: a region still investing in destination infrastructure and brand environments; an industry evolving through automation and sustainability pressures; and a buyer base that increasingly values integrated solutions—print plus display, print plus fabrication, print plus workflow intelligence. The 29th edition in 2026 arrives at a moment when global manufacturers are rethinking route-to-market
ware, and emerging technologies such as additive manufacturing and artificial intelligence. That reflects how buyers invest today—across complete solutions rather than isolated machines. As Falaknaz put it, “We are extremely bullish about SGI Dubai 2026. The interest we are seeing from exhibitors is early and global. Our goal is to deliver a show that is bigger in participation, stronger in technology diversity, and even more aligned to future-facing buyer demand.”
strategies and regional growth allocation. For those targeting the Middle East and Africa, SGI Dubai is positioning itself not just as a place to exhibit, but as the platform where regional demand becomes measurable opportunity—through distribution relationships, project pipelines, equipment sales, and long-term market presence. If exhibitions are ultimately about deals, partnerships, and influence, SGI Dubai’s message to the global market is clear, this is where the region’s next wave of print and visual communication decisions will be shaped—and where the most serious buyers come to choose what they will invest in next.
A clear message to global exhibitors For brands assessing where to
Large-format remains a primary investment area in the Middle East and Africa because it directly serves the region’s most active demand engines

The attention on artificial intelligence is particularly relevant. As the industry shifts towards data-driven workflow management, predictive maintenance, automated prepress, and smarter production planning, buyers are expecting vendors to show not only equipment performance but the intelligence layer around it. For exhibitors, this creates a stronger engagement model, conversations that begin with a technology demo can quickly move into ROI logic, operational implementation plans, and scalable growth strategies.
First, buyer quality. SGI Dubai’s proposition is built around decision-makers—owners, general managers, procurement heads, and technical leaders who attend to evaluate technologies and make purchases. Second, multi-market leverage. SGI Dubai is not a single-country play. It is a gateway into the wider Middle East and Africa corridor—where Dubai remains a preferred hub for procurement, distribution, logistics, and partnership formation. Third, a converged show profile. SGI Dubai brings together the full ecosystem: print, signage, textiles, LED and displays, fabrication, soft-
