GORE-TEX® Footwear has to withstand up to 300,000 flex movements (80 hours) in ankle-high water – without allowing one single drop of water to penetrate inside the boot. EN ISO standard 20344 requires only 4800 flexes (80 minutes) and 3 cm2 water entry is allowed.

ANATOMIC LAST
The fit indicates the wearability of the shoe and expresses a proportion, i.e. the ratio between the length of the foot and its width at the widest part, at the toe joint. In order to work all day wearing safety shoes that are as comfortable as possible, the fit of the shoe must be adapted to the conformation of the foot, the stress to which it is subjected and the changes it may undergo in the course of the day (e.g. swelling).

NEW REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD EN ISO 20344:2022
The new EN ISO 20345:2022 and EN ISO 20347:2022 standards have incorporated new, specific and additional requirements. Some have been removed or have undergone changes.

Slip resistance (SR)
The previous slip test 'SRC' (SRA + SRB) will no longer be used, the regulation provides for a change in the procedure for performing the slip test under different conditions, called 'SR' (see table below)
Puncture resistance (P, PL, PS)
Puncture resistance in footwear in this new version of the standard is divided into three different categories:
P Puncture resistance with metal insert
PL Puncture resistance with non-metallic insert (test performed with Ø4.5mm nail)
PS Puncture resistance with non-metallic insert (test performed with Ø3.0 mm nail)
Sole resistance to hydrocarbons
This requirement is optional for all protection classes. If present, it is indicated with FO in marking.
Water penetration
The additional requirement WRU (water-resistant uppers), which describes the water-repellent effect of the shoe upper, has been changed to WPA (water penetration and absorption). The upper requirements remain unchanged.
LADDER GRIP (LG)
For a better grip on the rung ladder, the sole must have a construction that complies with the requirements of the waist area according to the standard with a heel height of at least 10 mm, crampon height in the waist area of at least 1.5 mm and a waist area surface of at least 35 mm. Toe abrasion resistance (SCUFF CAP)
A 'Martindale' abrasion test of 8,000 cycles is carried out to determine the abrasion of the scuff cap; the scuff cap should not develop holes throughout its thickness.

Instructions for use
European Regulation (EU) 2016/425 regulates the CE marking of all personal protective equipment (PPE). The declaration of conformity is the document produced by the manufacturer in which it declares that the product complies with the health and safety requirements of the regulation. The presence of the CE marking is compulsory on all garments considered to be PPE and marketed in countries belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA) and EFTA countries.
Regulation (EU) 2016/425 identifies and classifies the three risk categories of PPE.
• Category I: all PPE that protects against minimal risks (Declaration of conformity: self-certification issued directly by the manufacturer).
Category II: all PPE that protects against intermediate risks (Certificate).
• Category III: all PPE that protects against high risks that may lead to very serious or irreversible consequences (Certificate). The general requirements for PPE are governed by standard UNI EN ISO 13688, which specifies the following general performance requirements:
The standard specifies the requirements for high-visibility clothing that visually signals the wearer's presence both in daylight and in artificial lighting conditions at night. Visibility is ensured by the combination of a fluorescent base fabric during the day and a retro-reflective fabric in the dark, making it possible to classify garments into three categories of protection. Class 3: represents the highest level of protection and is suitable for people working in airports or intermodal ports, motorway maintenance or roads with several lanes in each direction. It must have a minimum of 0.80 m² of fluorescent backing material and 0.20 m² of retroreflective tape, which corresponds to 5 metres of 4 cm high tape.Class 2: represents the intermediate level of protection and is suitable for those working in municipal and national road maintenance, warehousemen and drivers. It must include a minimum of 0.50 square metres of fluorescent background material and 0.13 square metres of retroreflective tape, which corresponds to 3.25 metres of 4 cm high tape. Class 1: represents the minimum level of protection and is recommended for those who maintain private roads, or in situations of limited risk. It must include a minimum of 0.14 square metres of fluorescent background material and 0.10 square metres of retroreflective tape, which corresponds to 2.50 metres of 4 cm high tape.
Type A: Clothing providing protection from daylight
The standard specifies the requirements for clothing worn in medium-risk situations that require increased visibility, but where the risk assessment does not make the use of PPE certified to EN ISO 20471 mandatory:
Type B: Protective clothing against night light
Type AB: clothing offering protection in daylight, at night and at dusk.
The standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the performance of individual items of clothing for protection against the cooling of the body in cold environments down to temperatures of - 5°C. Compared with EN 342, EN 14058 is less restrictive.

Marking
The label bearing the CE marking can be fixed inside the garment. The characters and pictograms indicate the garment's storage instructions. The font sizes are larger than 2 mm and the dimensions of the written EC are greater than 5 mm. The specific size of the garment will be placed on a separate label (size label).Indications:
1. Brand of manufacture;
2. Pictogram and tables measures, indicating the standard to which the directive is compliant;
3. CE marking and the category of PPE;
4. name and address of the manufacturer.

This standard defines the requirements for gloves in terms of design, construction, cleaning, instructions, electrostatic properties, sizing, dexterity, water vapor transmission and absorption with markings and information.
PROTECTIVE GLOVES AGAINST MECHANICAL RISKS - EN 388
In recent years, changes in the manufacturing process of protective gloves have meant that the well-proven method of hand protection testing (EN388:2003), and in particular the test to evaluate cut protection, is no longer suitable. While the old EN388:2003 system with the 1 to 5 numbering system was easily understood, the development of new cut resistant materials combined with a push from industry to provide the highest level of protection possible has made it necessary to review the method for test hand protection.
EN388:2016+A1:2018 requires updating the standard and, in doing so, 2 tests have been revised (abrasion and cut) and 2 new tests have been included (TDM cut resistance and impact resistance).
The EN388:2003 standards specify physical and mechanical aggression caused by abrasion, blade cutting, tearing and puncturing. EN388:2016+A1:2018 updates the existing standard with this new test method for abrasion, TDM shear and impact resistance. EN ISO 13997:1999 (TDM test) records cut results as a Newton value - the force of the blade on the glove material required to cut 20mm material. Results are represented on an A-F scale.

Protective gloves: electrostatic properties
This European standard specifies a test method for properties electrostatics of the gloves. The test improves on EN1149 by requiring a vertical resistance of less than 1.0x108 ohm. Gloves tested to EN16350:2014 can be used in areas where there may be an increased risk of explosion, such as in a refinery.

Protection of electronic devices from electrostatic phenomena: general requirements
This standard specifies a test method for PPE used in highly sensitive areas where an electrostatic charge can potentially occur cause damage to delicate components such as electrical circuits and microchips. The gloves from the U-Power ESD line have been tested for both standards.
The Framework Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 provides that materials or objects intended to come into contact with food must not:

Protective gloves for welders
The European Standard EN 12477:2001+A1:2005 applies to protective gloves for use in manual welding, cutting and similar processes and sets minimum protection requirements based on the standards of EN 420, EN 388 and EN 407. Welding gloves are classified into two subcategories: Type A and Type B.TYPE A: for other welding processes TYPE B: when high dexterity is required, e.g. for TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding operations.
Mechanical Protection
