Game Time Baseball fever is alive and well in the West Valley Getting Here The northwest Valley is primarily made up of the cities of Glendale, Peoria, Sun City and Surprise. Farther to the north is the Deer Valley and Lake Pleasant areas, while to the southwest is Litchfield Park, Avondale and Goodyear.

Get to the West Valley by taking Interstate 17 north or the Loop 101 west. On the I-17, exit Glendale Avenue to reach Glendale, Bell Road to Peoria and Surprise.Take the same exits from the Loop 101.The area can also be accessed from Interstate 10 where drivers can exit avenue side streets heading north.

By Bus

Valley Metro serves the entire West Valley area with transit centers at Metrocenter and Arrowhead Towne Center, as well as park and rides in Glendale, Peoria and Deer Valley. For routes and schedules, visit valleymetro.org.

Aside from the amazing weather, there’s another reason to get out and enjoy this time of the year: spring training baseball. Nowhere else is America’s favorite pastime more a part of the culture and community than right here in the West Valley. Home to nine of the 15 Major League Baseball teams that call the Valley their spring training home, the West Valley hosts an impressive roster of teams that includes the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers. From March 3 to April 2, teams will practice their skills and play against each other in preparation for the regular season. With multiple games being played almost every day, there will be no shortage of baseball action to be experienced and enjoyed. Springtime also brings a number of community events and celebrations to the West Valley. From the Litchfield Park Art & Culinary Festival, to the Glendale Folk & Heritage Festival, the community is brimming with opportunities to see wonderful art, taste local cuisine and even learn about the history and heritage of the West Valley area. One such event is Peoria Pioneer Days, a family event that celebrates the city’s history with a parade of more than 40 entries and a community lunch near the Peoria Historical Society Museum. 0EOI 4PIEWERX

Spring training home to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox, Camelback Ranch is a true “diamond” in the desert. With 10,000-plus seats, eight suites, four mini-suites, a press box and suite-level party deck, you’ll enjoy a fun-filled day at the ballpark at Glendale’s newest facility.

Ohio natives will feel right at home at Goodyear Ballpark as they cheer on the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds at this unique stadium situated in the Goodyear Recreational Complex. The $108 million project includes the ballpark and two separate clubhouses and practice fields for each team.

Home to the Milwaukee Brewers, this state-of-theart complex can hold up to 10,000 fans, who can choose between seating in the shaded concourse or on the large grass berm in the outfield. No matter where you choose, though, a recessed playing field gives you great views of all the action.

The first two-team facility ever built, Peoria Sports Complex is considered one of the premier baseball facilities in the county. Hosting the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, the complex has six Major League-sized practice fields, a 40,000-square-foot clubhouse, indoor/outdoor batting tunnels and cages, and can seat 11,333 fans.

Whether you’re a Texas Rangers or a Kansas City Royals fan, Surprise Stadium is the place for you. Rated as the “best placed to watch a spring training game,” this award-winning facility seats 10,500 fans and is the centerpiece of the 124-acre Surprise Recreation Campus, which includes six practice fields for each team.

Geared primarily for youth baseball,Victory Lane Sports Park has six ball fields and batting cages and hosts a number of tournaments, including Super Series baseball. It also accommodates softball, volleyball and kickball leagues, and offers concessions, children’s playground, and a sports bar and grill.
