Reserve ■ Vandalism that took place at Toomuc Recreation Reserve resulted in a power outage to the entire reserve, including Cardinia Life. The reserve’s substation handles and padlocks were damaged, with vandals cutting power to the entire site, attempting to steal copper cables. AusNet were notified. There was no power to buildings and services at Toomuc Recreation Reserve and Cardinia Life. Both facilities remained closed until power can be safely reinstated. A generator was placed on site to maintain critical sewer services while the extent of the damage was assessed. Security was deployed at the site. This incident forms part of an increase in vandalism Cardinia Shire reserves, with damage also reported at Holm Park Recreation Reserve, Gembrook Recreation Reserve, Cardinia Recreation Reserve and Lang Lang Recreation Reserve recently.
● Frankston MLA Paul Edbrooke has become a State Minister. ■ Frankston MLA Paul Edbrooke has been appointed as Minister for Consumer Affairs, Cost of Living, Renters, and Men and Boys. Premier Jacinta Allan made the announcement of Mr Edbrooke’s promotion, which takes his annual salary to $254,270, an annual rise of $42,298. Before entering Parliament, Mr Edbrooke worked as a firefighter and teacher. He felt that the Frankston community needed to be prioritised by State Government in funding revitalisation opportunities for education, health, public transport, and other sectors.
In his time as the Member for Frankston he says that he has delivered record funding in schools, TAFE, public transport, and mental health. “Frankston, as the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, needs to rapidly grow to provide the services of the major CBD,” Mr Edbrooke saisd. Mr Edbrooke’s vision for Victoria’s future is that it maintains its status as the backbone of Australia’s economy, be known on the international stage as progressive socially and industrially, with successful local industry, tourism, and international events.
