■ Police have charged a man after seizing illicit tobacco valued at close to $2M and a loaded firearm during a warrant in Campbellfield on Thursday (July 31). A 30-year-old Craigieburn man was arrested at his home address. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a conducted energy device, knife and a large quantity of cash. A second warrant was then executed in Campbellfield, with police locating over 4700 boxes of illicit cigarettes valued at close to $2M and a loaded handgun. The Craigieburn man was interviewed and charged with firearm, prohibited weapons and proceeds of crime offences. He was remanded overnight to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
