■ A southbound V/Line train continued on its trip after two carriages carrying 10 passengers had detached near Seymour last week. The incident happened just before 6am on Monday (Aug. 25)close to Tallarook. The two carriages came to a controlled stop because of an automatic braking system. The train driver was able to notify the V/ Line operations centre of the incident when they became aware of the detachment. One of the passengers who was on-board one of the detached carriages told media that the carriage came to a stop at around 5.50am. The conductor, who was also in the stranded carriages, told passengers. “We were just driving and then it randomly stopped,” the woman said. “I think after about five, 10 minutes the conductor let us know there was a bit of drama and that we had lost the driver and they had driven off without us because the couplings had broken or something. The train was bound for Southern Cross Station. The woman said a replacement driver arrived about 7am and the stranded carriages were returned to Seymour at around 8.20am.
