Weapons, KING’S BIRTHDAY HONOUR drugs seized FOR LATE ALAN JENKINS
■ The late Alan Jenkins was recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours on Monday (June 8) with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division The award citation was “for service to fraternal organisations, and to the community”. Mr Jenkins was a prominent Freemason, with membership of the Brae Dale Lodge based at Belgrave. He was a Grand Inspector of Workings, 2010; Junior Grand Warden, 2020; member and Secretary, Brae Dale Lodge, 2016-2026; a Grand Sword Bearer and Junior Grand Deacon. In the Holy Royal Arch Freemason Chapter, he was Grand Treasurer, 20222026; Master, Director of Ceremonies, and Grand Steward, 2017. Mr Jenkins was Worshipful Commander elect, Ark Mariner Lodge; a member, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary of the Jonadab Lodge; Master of Belgrave Mark Lodge; Master of Hiram Lodge; a Master, of Sherbrooke Council of Royal and Select Masters; a member, St Andrew Sovereign Council 30th Degree; as well as Master and Secretary of Bayswater Lodge. He was a Freemason from 1974-2026. Elsewhere in the community, Mr Jenkins was a Past President of the Rotary Club Bayswater North; former Chairman and Treasurer, of the District 9810 Conference. In the Liberal Party, Victoria, he was Chairman of the Bayswater State Electoral Conference; and a former Executive Member of the Aston and Deakin Federal Electoral Conferences. In sport, Mr Jenkins was a Magpie Coterie Club member of the Collingwood Football Club. He was a President of the Upwey Ferntree Gully Baseball Club, and Foundation Coach, Waverley Baseball Club, where he also served as an umpire and Treasurer. Mr Jenkins died in March. he is survived by wife Valerie, and sons Andrew and Steve.

■ Police charged two men and seized machetes, firearms, cash and a commercial quantity of drugs in Doncaster last Wednesday (June 3). Officers from the Yarra Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a search warrant at the Frederick St property about 5.30am. Inside the property, officers allegedly located and seized: ■ Several cannabis plants ■ Traffickable quantities of GHB, methylamphetamine, MDMA and ecstasy ■ Three imitation firearms ■ Seven machetes ■ $5320 cash Various credit cards and ID cards believed to be in relation to fraudulent offending. Two men and a woman inside the property were arrested. A 30-year-old Doncaster man was charged with more than two dozen offences including: ■ cultivate narcotic plant ■ traffick cannabis ■ possess drug of dependence (x6) ■ possess prohibited weapon (x8) ■ possess prescription medication (x5) ■ possess imitation firearm (x3) ■ fraudulently after registration plate (x2) ■ fraudulently alter a licence ■ handle stolen goods A 23-year-old Doncaster man was charged with several offences. The pair was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. A 27-year-old Box Hill woman was released and is expected to be charged on summons.
