HIT-RUN CRASH AT MULGRAVE
■ Southern Metro Crime Squad are appealing for public assistance following a hit-run car crash in Mulgrave. It is believed a white Volkswagen Polo crashed into a pole on Monash Freeway at the intersection of Springvale Rd about 11.45pm on Saturday, February 8. The crash caused the pole to fall across three laneways of southbound traffic, and no one was injured. Police have been told four occupants of the Polo got out of the vehicle and fled in a stolen white BMW. The Polo was stolen from a railway station on Endeavour Drive in Cranbourne North just before 8pm, prior to the crash. Investigators are keen to speak to anyone with dash cam footage or anyone who may have witnessed the crash. ■ Glen Waverley MLA John Mullahy is defiantly supporting the Suburban Rail Loop East, backing Premier Jacinta Allan’s commitment to the $30 billion-plus project. “ The Suburban Rail Loop is a transformational project which will shape our state for years to come,” Mr Mullahy said. “Whether it be Berlin, Paris, London, Tokyo, Seoul or Singapore, most advanced metro networks across the world have a loop connecting the various suburbs and train lines within each city. “The Allan Labor Government also understands the vital need to make this significant investment into Victoria’s future. “Not only will the Suburban Rail Loop bring communities together, take cars off the roads, boost local economies and slash travel times, it will enable some 70,000 new homes to be built.” The $30 billion project between Cheltenham and Box Hill is expected to open in 2035. North and West links are yet to commence.
