■ There will still be a need for cars despite the State Government’s desire to have ‘car lite’ communities around the Suburban Rail Loop, says Monash Mayor Cr Paul Klisaris. “Council supports SRL Station precincts as being areas where people have various transport options,” said Cr Kilsaris. “This must include better connections to other public transport options and improvements to active transport infrastructure in and around station precincts. “However, there will still be demand for private vehicle trips to access these precincts given the existing road network and existing constraints in and around each precinct,” Cr Klisaris said.

■ Knox will become home to public artwork honouring Yarra Yarra woman Aunty Dorothy ‘Dot’ Peters. Knox Council’s submission was to recognise Aunty Dot, who used her roles as activist, educator, author and Elder to raise awareness of a range of issues impacting First Nations people. In 2019, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of her service to the First Nations people of Victoria. The program aims to address the under-representation of women in public art and women artists by commissioning six new public artworks in Victoria, inspired by the contributions, achievements and stories of Victorian women.
