Vinner of the Senior Section (Years 10- 12) ■ The final of Bayspeak, a public speaking competition for Bayside high schools, was was Nathan Stanford, representing Brighton Secondary College. The runner-up was Richie hosted by Firbank Grammar School. In total, 38 students from 12 schools took Huang, representing St Leonard’s College. The winners of each section received cash part in Bayspeak 2023, with 12 students from prizes of $400, with $100 going to the runners10 schools reaching the final. ■ A 55-year-old South Yarra man is on remand after being charged with one count of murder of an 81-year-old Maribyrnong woman. Homicide Squad detectives have charged the man following the death of a woman arlier this month. Emergency services were called to Macedon St about 5.40pm on June 12 after the female resident was located deceased inside her property. A 55-year-old man was arrested early on Friday morning (June 23) at South Yarra. The man has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 27.
