● Junior girls’ football in the south-east has celebrated a significant milestone, with the first cohort of girls reaching 100 games recognised in a special ceremony at RSEA Park in Moorabbin. A total of 41 players attended the event, along with a number of special guests: Anne-Marie Harrison, (CEO, Victorian Institute of Sport); Natalie Bond (actor and writer); Chantella Perera (Former AFLW and WNBL player); Karen Pearce OAM (Executive Manager, Football Victoria); and Nick Dal Santo (St Kilda AFLW senior coach). Three players from Stonnington clubs were among the 41 players in attendance: Brigette Jackson (Prahran JFC), Alexandra Calogero (East Malvern JFC, pictured above), and Tess Davey (East Malvern JFC).

The five male youths - a 16year-old from Cranbourne North, two 15-year-olds from Hallam, a 13-year-old from Narre Warren and a 13-year-old from Hallam – are expected to be charged with aggravated burglary and home invasion amongst other offences and will appear before a children’s court.

■ Southern Metro Crime Team detectives arrested five youths allegedly caught in the act of committing an aggravated burglary in Toorak earon Thursday morning. Investigators observed an Audi driving in the Hallam area about 12.20am that had been stolen during an aggravated burglary in Oakleigh on Wednesday morning. The Audi entered the Monash Freeway where it allegedly travelled at speeds of up to 200kmh while being monitored by the Air Wing. It was also seen driving through 40kmh roadworks at more than double the speed limit. Police continued to follow the Audi as it pulled up outside a Toorak address on Lansell Rd. Three youths have allegedly broken into the address while another two stayed in the car. Detectives swooped on the stolen vehicle, arresting the two youths inside. They then entered the home where a third youth was arrested. The final two youths fled on foot but were quickly rounded up with the help of the Dog Squad.
