■ Nepean MLA Sam Groth has been reported as saying that he would be keen to take on the job as Leader of the Victorian Liberal Party in State Parliament. The Labor Party took the unusual step of reporting the development at the taxpapyerfunded website of Premier Jacinta Allan. “While we’re focused on delivering what matters for the people of Victoria, the Liberal Party is once again focused on themselves and their ongoing leadership struggle,” said the statement of Ms Allan’s website. “Liberal Party Member for Nepean, Sam Groth has sensationally challenged John Pesutto’s leadership, telling the Herald Sun that he wants to be Premier. “In the same interview, Sam Groth says he won’t destabilise the party, while openly declaring war on John Pesutto’s leadership while the Leader of the Opposition is overseas and can’t return serve.” The Government media statement referred to Mr Grioth’s “stunning treachery”.
