■ There will be a number of solemn ANZAC Day observances on Thursday next week (Apr. 25) across the Mornington Peninsula. ““On Thursday, April 25, we come together to honour the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our nation,” said Mayor Cr Simon Brooks. “As Mayor, I am proud to announce our support for ANZAC Day services across 13 townships, as we pay homage to those who have given so much for our freedom”. Services include: Balnarring, 9.30am. Crib Point, 6am and 10.45am for 11am. Dromana, 6am, 9.15am for 9.30am. Flinders, 10am, 11am and 11.30am. Hastings, 6am, 10.30am for 11am. DANDENONG SHOOTING: ANOTHER MAN CHARGED
■ Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have charged a second man following a non fatal shooting in Dandenong earlier this year. With assistance from the Fugitive Squad, a 35-year-old Cranbourne North man was arrested at a business in Noble Park on Thursday morning (Apr. 11). He was interviewed by Police and subsequently charged with intentionally cause serious injury and reckless conduct endangering life. The man was expected to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court. The arrest follows an incident on February 26 where emergency services were called after a man was located with a gunshot wound at the intersection of Fifth and Seventh Avenues about 5.30am. Investigators will allege an altercation occurred between two groups of men who were known to each other. A 25-year-old Officer man was conveyed to hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. On February 29, detectives arrested a 31year-old Dandenong man as part of their investigation. He was subsequently charged with intentionally cause serious injury, reckless conduct endanger life, use unregistered firearm, use firearm in a public place, possess ammunition, commit indictable offence whilst on bail. Two imitation handguns, a set of nunchucks, ammunition and what appears to be methylamphetamine and cannabis were also seized from two Cranbourne North addresses.
Police investigate fatal collision
■ Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision in Dandenong South last Tuesday (Apr. 9). It is believed the driver of a garbage truck was travelling along Greens Rd when they collided with a Kia SUV at a set of traffic lights about 12 Noon. The impact forced the SUV into another truck which then crashed into the back of another vehicle. The passenger of the SUV, an 87-yearold Robertsons Beach man, sustained lifethreatening injuries and later died in hospital on Thursday (Apr. 11). The driver of the SUV, an 84-year-old Robertsons Beach woman, sustained lifethreatening injuries and remains in hospital. The other drivers involved in the collision were assisting police with their enquiries. Exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing. Tragic road death at Taminick
■ Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Taminick on Thursday morning (Apr. 11). It is believed a vehicle towing a horse float was travelling along GlenrowanBoweya Rd when it veered off the road hitting a low-lying tree branch, just before 8.30am. The driver and sole occupant, a 49-yearold Thoona woman died at the scene. One horse died at the scene and the second horse was euthanised.
