■ Chris Crewther, 39, former Dunkley MHR from 2016-19, appears to have defeated Teal candidate Dr Kate Lardner to become the State Member for Mornington. As The Local Paper went to press, a re-check was progress. Mr Crewther (Liberal) had 20,557 votes (50.6 per cent on a two-party preferred basis) against Dr Lardner (Independent) with 20,066 votes (49.4 per cent). Mr Crewther takes over the seat from retiring Mornington MLA David Morris. In the Hastings seat, Labor’s Paul Mercurio caused a surprise for some, with the likelihood that he has wrestled the Liberal seat from Briony Hutton. The seat had been held by Neale Burgess. Mr Mercurio is sitting on 20,121 vottes (51.02 per cent) against Ms Hutton on 19,318 botes (48.98 per cent). In other seats, provisional results were released on Friday
● Chris Crewther by the Victorian Electoral Commission: ■ Berwick: Brad Battin (Lib.) is likely to have won with 22,881 votes (54.88 per cent), ■ Carrum: Sonya Kilkenny (ALP) polled well with 23,408 votes (59.85 per cent), ■ Cranbourne: Despite early hesitations, Pauline Richards (ALP) will be returned with 22,759 votes (59.09 per cent),
■ Dandenong: Gabrielle Williams will be returned with 26,372 votes (69.18 per cent), ■ Frankston: Paul Edbrooke continues to represent locally after gaining 21887 votes (58.64 per cent), ■ Mordialloc: Tim Richardson (ALP) attained 24,612 votes (57.82 per cent), ■ Mulgrave: Premier Daniel Andrews (ALP) was returned with 19,856 votes (60.24 per cent), ■ Narre Warren North: Belinda Wilson (ALP) won with 23,754 votes (59.21 per cent), ■ Narre Warren South: Gary Maas (ALP) won with 22,655 votes (58.44 per cent), ■ Nepean: Sam Groth (Lib.) with 21,599 votes (56.77 per cent) took the seat from Chris Brayne (ALP) (43.23 per cent), ■ Pakenham remained tight at press time with both major candidate David Farrelly (Lib.) and Emma Vulin (ALP) on 18,267 votes.
