10 ARRESTS IN BRIMBANK STING
■ Police arrested 10 people and seized three stolen vehicles during an overnight car theft operation in the Brimbank area. Operation Ghost ran for three nights, with police targeting criminals breaking into and stealing cars. Officers honed in on shopping centre and railway station carparks in Sunshine, St Albans and Taylors Lakes, as well as residential areas. It followed police intelligence which revealed thieves commonly target public parking areas and try multiple cars until they find one that is unlocked to steal or take items inside. The targeted patrols, which aimed to deter offending, also led to police locating three unoccupied stolen vehicles at carparks in Deer Park and St Albans. Some 10 people were arrested during the operation, including: ■ A 37-year-old Footscray man who was allegedly caught driving erratically on Ballarat R ■ A 66-year-old Sunshine West man who was arrested during a search warrant in Caroline Springs on October 11.

● All Council votes are to be by post.
■ All voters in the local Council elections are expected to lodge their votes by post by 6pm this Friday (Oct. 25). There will not be any in-person voting. Polling booths do not exist for these local government elections. In the North-West Edition area for The Local Paper, elections are being conducted for each of the Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Hume, Maribyrnong, Merri-bek, Melton, Moonee Valley, Moorabool and Wyndham. A large number of voters appear to be confused about the procedures for this year’s local government areas, being conducted by the Victorian Electoral Commission. The Councils and the VEC have not published any advisory advertisements in The Local Paper. In Merri-bek, candidate Daniel De Lorenzis said: “I continue to be asked ..where do I go to vote. Residents don't know about postal voting also ethnic community are more confused. Very poor education. If this is a forerunner for State Election we're in big trouble.”
