SHOOTING AT MEADOW HEIGHTS

■ Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating an aggravated burglary and shooting in Meadow Heights on Saturday (July 29). It is believed three males gained access to a residence on Amarina Court about 9.45pm. After gaining access to the residence, investigators believe an altercation between the occupants and intruders took place. A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound and remains in a serious but non-life-threatening condition. Investigators also attended an address on View St in Glenroy just after 12.30am following reports of gunshots. On Police arrival three men were located with injuries. A 22-year-old man, a 45-year-old man, and a 23-year-old man were taken to hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. A fourth man, a 43-year-old, self-presented to hospital with a gunshot wound and was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries. It is yet to be determined if the two incidents are linked at this stage and the investigation is ongoing. Police believe these may be targeted incidents and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

■ A 34-year-old man was caught drink driving and allegedly eight times over the alcohol limit in Werribee on Saturday night. Werribee Police observed a Nissan Micra sedan being driven erratically on Tarneit Rd just before midnight. Officers intercepted the car and established the driver was unlicenced before he returned a positive preliminary breath test. A Taylors Lakes man was taken to a police station where he returned an alleged breath alcohol reading of 0.402. He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and unlicenced driving.

JEWELLERY THEFT AT MOONEE PONDS

■ Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released vision and images to appeal for information following a burglary at a Moonee Ponds home earlier this month. It is understood the offender slashed the fly screen and kicked in the rear door to gain entry to the property on Hopetoun St between 4.30pm and 6.15pm on July 1. Police were told the sentimental jewellery belonging the victim’s deceased daughter were stolen during the burglary.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries. The man is described as being of middle eastern appearance, aged in his 50s, solid build, black and grey hair with a thin goatee.
