‘Welcome to Bass’ ■ Bass MLA Jordan Crugnale has welcomed residents to the reconstituted electorate. “I want to take this opportunity also to welcome the new Bass communities coming in from the Tooradin to Pearcedale areas – the coastal villages of ● Jordan Crugnale, Bass MLA Warneet, Blind Bight and Cannons Creek – and Devon Meadows and Cranbourne South, and I really look forward to listening and walking beside the communities here and representing them as well, because they equally deserve the services, infrastructure, supports and programs. I also want to thank the communities and people in Pakenham and Clyde North,” Ms Crugnale said.

Waste-theme kinder.

■ Cardinia Shire Council is offering free, waste-themed incursions to local kindergartens, early learning centres and primary schools. The incursions are designed to help support our educators, families and young people to create a waste-wise future. They will be delivered by an environmental education partner throughout the school year. The incursions will be customised to suit each group’s needs and will cover topics including reducing waste, proper bin usage and the impact of litter.

PRIDE FORMAL AT BEACONSFIELD

■ Young people from Cardinia Shire and beyond participated in the return of the annual Pride Formal, held at the Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre. Now in its sixth year, the Pride Formal is a free event for LGBTIQA+ young people, friends, and allies to come together and celebrate in a safe, discrimination-free environment to embrace pride, diversity, and inclusion for all. This year, the event saw more than130 young people hit the dance floor with highlights including lip sync battles and prizes awarded for ‘best moves’ and ‘best dressed’ - where all young people were encouraged to express and celebrate their most authentic self. A highlight from the night was a special drag performance by long-time Cardinia Pride member, Claire Sanderson, otherwise known as Dia Thundara. A relaxed sensory space was also set up for those needing a break from the dance floor or just somewhere to chill out and chat. A photo booth was available for young people to capture lasting memories of their big night. “We’re really privileged and proud to hold this important and exciting event for our young people,” Cardinia Shire Mayor Cr Tammy Radford said. “It was fantastic to see so many of Cardinia’s young people out celebrating who they are, ex-

At Botanic Ridge PS

■ Cranbourne MLA Pauline Richards spoke last week in State Parliament about Botanic Ridge Primary School and the work being done there. “I was able to visit recently and see how extraordinary the educators and teachers are, working so hard with the school captains and the whole community,” Ms Richards said. “It is wonderful to be in amongst such clever and passionate educators. It is particularly heartwarming to watch the children grow and learn in a brand new school, a school that was built by the Andrews Labor Government. “To watch the way that this is done and to watch the work of the community, it is a credit to our whole community, it is a credit to our educators and I commend them all,” Ms Richards said.
