■ Cardinia Shire Council has acknowledge the official opening of the upgraded facilities at Toomuc Recreation Reserve, Pakenham. The junior football and cricket pavilion (southern pavilion) was redeveloped to include: ■ universally accessible change rooms and amenities for players and umpires. ■ canteen/kiosk ■ social space ■ meeting room ■ storage areas ■ first aid room ■ external spectator viewing area ■ timekeepers’ room. The ground floor area of the existing pavilion (northern pavilion) was redeveloped to provide netball change facilities and amenities, umpire change rooms, kitchenette, meeting spaces. balcony viewing area and reconstructed netball courts. Improvements were also made to the existing football/cricket change rooms and amenities, umpires’ room, canteen, meeting room, office and first aid room. The existing little athletics facility received upgrades to the canteen and storage space, and improvements were made to the baseball facilities including the canteen, storage space, change rooms and amenities, accessible public toilets and an external covered viewing area. Shire Mayor Cr Tammy Radford acknowledged the state and federal government’s funding contributions, and said Council was committed to empowering our communities to be healthy and providing suitable facilities helps foster participation and enables our communities to connect.
