In this climate...Reach for some Uplifting Reading By: Bulletin Editor, Jerry Marcotte

Dear Brothers... Welcome to the ‘Winter Edition’ of the online Ontario State Bulletin! Similar to our Fall Edition, our State Deputy David Gelinas had a great pulse on what to be included and on what could be motivating for the membership in Ontario. Similar to the Fall Edition, there is no shortage of articles or topics that could be of interest to our readers. It’s Dave’s vision and task to make article selections. My thanks to all those who have submitted content. Remember, more energy is dispensed in one’s writing an article than for you to read it! My repeated thrust is to ensure that as many knights seek it by typing Ontario Knights of Columbus into their browser and then clicking on ‘State Bulletin’. I have heard from a few who have sought it out for the first time and were pleased with what they found. My appeal is that for all council and assembly editors who publish a bulletin in their area, to include a ‘reminder’ for your readers to seek out the State Bulletin!

The few minutes taken to read this bulletin can have an uplifting effect! The new often used buzz word in the news is that we are in ‘geo political times’ and that dwelling on these uncertainties causes one’s anxiety to be elevated. That is too much unpleasant news! Recently, I sought a quiet space from the news nausea and picked up the current issue of Columbia ......... and perusing the first few pages seemed to parallel what was covered in the fall Ontario State Bulletin! On page 2 of Columbia, the editor’s column referred to the Kingship of Christ which was the cover and theme of our State Deputy David’s focus as his guiding theme for his term. Our Supreme Knight’s article on page three, entitled ‘The Grace of Gratitude’ made me reflect on the actions, reports, and successes that were reported in the Fall State Bulletin. After all, is it not gratitude for one’s faith and the vehicle of working with others in the Order that may have led to the realization of stories reported in the State Bulletin? Next to compare, was the Supreme Chaplain’s reflection on Pope Leo’s exhortation on love of the poor and charity? The great success of the ‘Coats for Kids’ as spoken about in the previous and in this edition of this bulletin reminds us that we are on track in Ontario. Is it not in our consciousness as knights, that when we have our own basic personal needs met that we should reach out to assist others? What tangent am I on? Well, let me say simply that taking the time to read publications such as the State Bulletin and Columbia should have positive and reinforcing vibes for those looking introspectively at their membership and their role in the Order. After all, doing so may be more uplifting than too much conflicting news! So thanks for reading this bulletin! With the hectic pace of life and numerous options in which to devote some time, I maintain that reading the aforementioned publications and indeed one’s own council or assembly bulletin that one may be encouraged to remain more active and connected. On the behalf of my wife Donna and I, we wish all we have come to meet and know through the knights...a joyful, peace-filled and meaningful Christmas Season.

State Deputy Reviews Great Projects By: State Deputy, David O. Gelinas

My dear brother Knights, Ontario has certainly been very busy with activity. During this calendar year, Ontario State has provided three online 50/50 raffles, up one from 2024. The early bird winners and grand prize winners are always announced through the State office but to recap, the first grand prize winner amount was $11,210 and the second grand prize winner amount was $8,005. I admit there have been larger grand prize amounts in the past but it all depends on the number of purchases. For anyone older than 18 years old and resides in Ontario, you can click this link to the Ontario State website to make a purchase (https://www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/k-of-c-ont/). The current pot is already larger than the past two raffles, so purchase some tickets and give yourself a chance to win before December 30th. There will be three raffles in 2026. The 2025 – 2026 Wheelchair program has been successful, in that the order for wheelchairs has been placed in late October and the shipment to Mexico should be some time in May 2026. The Ontario State global wheelchair mission chairman is Shane James and donations are accepted through out the year at this link (https://cdnwheelchair.ca/). The CWF will provide a tax donation receipt. Bruce Poulin was recently appointed the Eastern Canada Senior Representative for CWF. Donations going forward will go towards 2027 which will also be sent to Mexico. The annual Coats for Kids have taken everyone’s attention for the past two months and State Director Mario Duguay and the staff at the Ontario office have done a fantastic job this year. This year for the first time, we had two Coats for Kids kickoffs, one in Hamilton and one in Tilbury for the Windsor/Essex & Kent County region. The bogo “buy one and get one” program helps us tremendously to get more coats onto more children and veterans than without the bogo feature. We were told that Ontario would be allocated less than last year but we did reach our maximum 585 cases of bogo coats. How significant is 585 free cases from Supreme, the value is over $222,000. I’ll let brother Mario give you all the details of what we reached together for this year. Thank you, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly, Deputy Supreme Knight Arthur Peters and all the Supreme Directors for their generosity to Ontario State. The gift of warmth is an essential for children and adults alike and is a gift of love. My sincere thanks to all councils and members that purchased coats. State Membership Director Dem Magmanlac and the rest of the membership team have been very busy talking with District Deputies and Grand Knights to help them organize church drives in our churches. We started out slow with 4% of our quota in July and in August, being at 8% at Labour Day weekend. September the Councils had a burst of energy and during September we reached 12% to get us to 20% at the end of September and we earned a reduction with this achievement. October everyone put the petal to the metal and reached 14% by the end of October. November shows no signs of stopping. See the membership growth chart to see how we compare to the last fraternal year when Bruce Poulin’s team achieved a record year for membership growth. With a reorganization by Supreme within the 5 regions in the USA and Canada, we were appointed a new Regional Growth Director, William “Bill” Chasse. Bill is a Past State Deputy from Michigan. I’ve scheduled townhalls with District Deputies to meet Bill in Toronto and Oshawa in October and Orléans and Ottawa in November. There were a couple of hiccups, that happens in life, but overall RGD Bill was delighted to meet Knights in Ontario and was very impressed with those he met. Supreme granted a request to have a Blessed McGivney relic in Ontario for the purpose to heal someone who was very ill. We received it in mid August and it traveled to many Councils and parishes until mid November. I’ve seen many reports from the District Deputies along with some photos and it was well received. The parish pastors have been very receptive to the McGivney relic (a first class relic – a bone of Blessed McGivney, our founder) and many pastors held healing masses. At the time of writing this report, I do not have the summary stats but I will share them when I can review all the reports sent to me. I plan to send a summary of statistics to Supreme expressing our thanks to have the McGivney relic in Ontario. I’ve had more requests for the relic and I’ve asked Supreme recently if we can have it again in Ontario in 2026. I’ll report if that happens. As I began my report, Knights have been very busy in Ontario these first five months. Activity with many programs helps to bring the Knights of Columbus to higher awareness in our communities and helps to keep our members of all ages excited to be a member of the Knights of Columbus. As many of the State team and staff make our final preparations for the midyear District Deputy meeting in early December, we know our attention will then focus on the 2026 Ontario State convention in Ottawa during the weekend of April 24-26th. I hope councils are preparing to send a delegate or two to the annual convention in our Nation’s capital city of Ottawa. With Advent soon upon us, I know that Christians and Catholics around the world, await in anticipation and excitement as we begin our spiritual preparations for Christmas. As we anticipate and reflect upon each of these four advent Sundays, together we will focus on Jesus Christ our Saviour and His gifts of hope, peace, joy and love. May your lives be filled with prayer, fasting and appreciation and thankfulness that God sent his only Son to become Man and dwell among us and teach us the truths of our faith and the path to Heaven and the salvation of our souls. Two days from the time of this writing, is November 23rd, the 100th anniversary of the Feast of Christ the King, declared by Pope Pius XI in 1925. I am still amazed that I listened to many hints and admit that I may not have known all the reasons why, when I decided back in April 2024 to dedicate my tenure to Christ the King of kings. I know now and it’s an example that we walk by faith and trust in Jesus, our Savior, to guide us during our faith journey. My wife Lori and I, wish all our members and their family members, a holy, joyous and Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, that will also bring you healing and good health throughout the year.

Introduction: New Community Programs By: The Community Director, Rory Faccia

Earlier this Fraternal Year, Supreme released two (2) new Community Programs: Bright Futures Celebrating our Catholic Heritage You can find both Programs on the KofC.org Supreme website, with guide sheets and information on how to conduct these Programs. Bright Futures and Celebrating our Catholic Heritage are Featured Programs - if a Council conducts them and all the minimum criteria are met, Councils can earn two (2) credits for each Program when completing the Columbian Award Application (SP-7). Cober has materials which can be ordered to help promote and educate on the purpose of these Programs. Councils are strongly encouraged to review the materials and conduct these new Community Programs.

Bright Futures - 11752 3-25 Futures_GS Overview The Bright Futures program invites councils to support the students and schools in their communities. Too often, youth face significant barriers to their educational success. Councils can help by providing funding and resources to those most in need. Popular ways to provide support include establishing parish libraries, running supply drives and fundraisers, participating in school beautification projects and supporting other volunteer programs offered by schools. Catholic schools are in particular need of council support.

Celebrating Our Catholic Heritage 11753 10-24 Heritage_GS Overview The Celebrating Our Catholic Heritage program encourages councils and their parishes to celebrate the culture and traditions of their communities. Catholics have played a significant role in the history of North America, contributing to its spiritual, cultural and social fabrics. Councils can celebrate and share the richness of Catholic heritage by hosting festivals and other events that include the food, music, art, and faith-based devotions of the countries or cultures represented in their areas. This program aims to educate, inspire, and unite the community while celebrating the deeprooted faith and cultural heritage of Catholics. Vivat Jesus, The King of kings! Proposed Film to Recall Historic Happening By: Michelle Iurman, Founder/Director of Full of Grace Productions My Dear Brothers in Christ, Seventy-seven years ago, one of the greatest Roman Catholic historical events took place in Canada, when our Marian clergy and their faithful flocks embraced a young, humble Irish priest and his priestly mission. This providential Canadian connection, that inaugurated a grassroots movement in one diocese that soon spread across Canada, the United States, and finally, throughout the world, was in thanksgiving to Mary, the Mother of God, and focused on family prayer. Phase One of an independent major motion film called, ALL FOR HER, is in the works based on the life and autobiography of Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., that will feature this lost and forgotten Canadian connection that also included the efforts of our beloved Knights of Columbus! The ALL FOR HER film project, will focus on three major parts of Father Peyton’s life. Born into a poor family with nine children in the small village of Attymass in County Mayo, Ireland, Part One of the film will recount Father Peyton’s humble beginnings, where he was given his great faith by his parents, and the tradition of reciting the daily Family Rosary. As a young boy, Father Peyton felt a fervent ‘calling’ to the priesthood. These experiences gave him the strong foundation for what was to be his life’s mission. Part Two will feature Father Peyton’s move to the United States as a teenager, and where his vocational “calling” to the priesthood was finally answered. While studying at Notre Dame University as a young seminarian, he experienced a miraculous healing from tuberculosis after putting his trust in the power of the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Grateful to Our Lady after his ordination, he knew his mission was to strengthen family life by promoting the daily prayer of the Family Rosary. On February 13, 1947, Father Peyton founded one of the longest radio programs in history called, FAMILY THEATER OF THE AIR. Broadcasted weekly from Hollywood, the radio program featured all the Golden Age of Hollywood movie stars from different faith denominations, who donated their time and talents - star power such as Loretta Young, Jimmy Stewart, Don Ameche, etc., promoted what soon became Father Peyton’s most famous prayerful slogans, “The Family That Prays Together Stays Together.” KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS | ONTARIO STATE BULLETIN | WINTER 2025

Part Three of the film with highlight the crucial but forgotten Canadian connection that made Father Peyton known throughout the world with the moniker, “The Rosary Priest,” and that put him on the path to sainthood. Only four months after starting his radio program, Father Peyton set up a booth at the Marian Congress in Ottawa, Ontario, in June of 1947, that culminated in the Consecration of Canada to the Immaculate Heart of Mary with prayers for world peace. Father Peyton received an invitation at that Congress to preach a Triduum that same year (similar to a parish mission today) by Father John Maloney and his Associate, Father John McCormick at St. Mary’s Church (so aptly named) in the Diocese of London, Ontario, Canada. Father Peyton’s devotion to Our Lady and his sanctity were quickly recognized and he was given the “pioneering blueprint” by Father Maloney for a Diocesan-wide Family Rosary Crusade. It was a similar plan that the diocese had implemented the year before to help raise some much-needed funds. Then-Bishop of London, Bishop John T. Kidd, whose overwhelming approval and support along with his Coadjutor, then-Bishop John C. Cody, ensured that Father Peyton was given all the necessary spiritual, physical, and financial support for his mission to be triumphant! At the same time, Sir Arthur Carty, a Londoner and a news and media mogul, designed, wrote, and edited six special editions of a Roman Catholic newspaper pro bono called, THE TIME FOR FAMILY PRAYER. These extraordinary publications served to bring the first Crusade both Canadian and global notoriety. From the selfless giving and concerted efforts of both the dedicated Canadian holy bishops, priests, and the media, the Virtue of Charity for our Lady and for Father Peyton’s mission was in action.

From the media blitz, schools, hospitals, parishes, and people from all walks of life wanted to be a part of the Crusade, and began working together for both its success and for the common good of all. This Virtue of Unity even touched and included non-Catholics, for they saw truth in Father Patrick’s argument of the need for family prayer and religion to promote the good welfare of the community and nation. The final stage of the “pioneering blueprint” consisted of finding six thousand men who would volunteer their time and energy to ensure the Crusade’s final victory. Countless members of the Knights of Columbus Order stepped up and admirably displayed the Virtue of Fraternity, as they fraternally went door-to-door in pairs - as similarly commissioned to the Apostles by Jesus Christ - to every registered member of the diocese. Known as “The March of the Six Thousand,” these tireless soldiers for Jesus, King of Kings and His Most Holy Mother, collected signed pledges of men, women and children who promised to recite the daily prayer of the Rosary together as a family. The pledges numbered 90,000 which in total, covered over 95% of the diocese. Subsequently, the same “pioneering blueprint” used in the London diocese and the same four virtues were replicated, as Rosary Crusades and Rallies swept throughout the dioceses of Canada, showcasing the Virtue of Patriotism: Saskatchewan in 1948, Alberta, Manitoba, British Columbia, Yukon, and North West Territories in 1949, Ontario in 194950, Quebec & New Brunswick in 1950, Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island in 1951, and Newfoundland & Labrador in 1952. The rest of world soon followed, surpassing Father Peyton’s goal of reaching ten million lives as he touched over 28 million lives on every continent of the globe. Canada helped put him on the path to sainthood as he was declared “Venerable” by the Vatican on December 19, 2017. There are many more details to the story that only a major motion film (not a documentary) can feature! I felt “called" to make this film from the moment my dear Mom handed me Father Peyton’s autobiography, ALL FOR HER, and told me that I was going to something special with it - I had just returned home after pursuing my singing and acting career in New York City, and turned down a lucrative offer because what was expected of me in return went completely against my Roman Catholic faith and upbringing. Although still heartbroken, I was happy to organize the 100th Anniversary at St. Mary’s Church, where Father Peyton had preached, and where he was given the “pioneering blueprint” for his Family Rosary mission. I invited Father Thomas Feeley, C.S.C., the first Vice-Postulator for the Cause of Canonization of Father Peyton, to also preach a Triduum at the parish. I promised Father Feeley that I would utilize my talents to work with him and the actor, Jim Caviezel (“Jesus Christ” in Mel Gibson’s 2004 film, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST), to help further the Cause and to follow the same journey as Father Peyton did across Canada. Sadly, Father Feeley died unexpectedly, and so I thought, did the deathbed promise I had made to him KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS | ONTARIO STATE BULLETIN | WINTER 2025

Thanks be to God, that is not where the story ends! Our new and Worthy Ontario State Deputy, David Gelinas, truly responded, “in service of one, in service of all,” as he immediately was in favour of our Knights helping to fundraise for our ALL FOR HER film project - the greatest love story between a humble and holy priest and his Heavenly Mother! Our Phase One goal for the film project is $1,000,000, which includes the research, development, and writing of the screenplay, the scouting of film locations in Ireland, the United States, and Canada, and all of our office needs and expenses, including staff salaries. We have already started the fundraising proposal in the Diocese of London, and God-willing, Ontario and the rest of Canada (and beyond) will follow suit, just as it did for Father Peyton and the Rosary Crusades! I am also extremely grateful to both the Regional Chairman & London Diocesan Director, Kevin Belanger, and the DD for 39 Windsor & LWDA Chairman, Raymond Beaupre, for their tremendous support and help! I am sure that Blessed Michael McGivney is too, for he dedicated the Order to the Blessed Mother, and charged all Knights to pray the Rosary - a powerful devotion meant to emphasize her importance in the faith life of the Order’s members as shown during the first initiation when each new Knight is gifted with a Rosary! Full of Grace Productions proposal was designed for an already existing fundraiser within the Knights of Columbus councils. Each council can donate monies raised from one Breakfast (“Pancakes for Peyton”) or one Dinner (“Pasta for Peyton”) by May 31, 2026 (The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary). Each donation would range approximately between $500 - $1000 and can be made after expenses incurred for the event OR to donate all monies raised. Our test pilot “Pancakes for Peyton” was hosted by the St. John the Divine Parish Council 11053, and was their most well-attended one to date! The importance of its success was the amount of publicity done with bulletin ads, pulpit announcements, and a poster (I have an ad and a ‘mock’ poster to help any council). We would graciously accept any donation but the beauty of hosting a fundraiser “for Peyton,” is to give the film and our Knights publicity. And this is where Salt & Light TV has also stepped in! After meeting with Father Haig Chahinian, the CEO of Salt & Light Media Foundation in Canada and around the world, his response, similar to Bishop Kidd, was an instantaneous “Yes!” for Our Lady, and for Full of Grace Productions’ work on the Father Peyton film and the Canadian connection! They will cover a story as our work and help from the Knights progresses; we will reveal for the first time on Canadian Catholic television, the full truth that reveals the huge role that Canada played to help Venerable (Father) Patrick Peyton. To date, other amazing Canadian Catholic media coverage include Radio Maria Canada and The Catholic Register, as found on our website, fullofgraceproductions.ca. It is important to note that for more than eighty years, the Knights of Columbus have been a strong supporter of Father Patrick Peyton and his Family Rosary mission. Starting in Canada in 1944, the Supreme Convention in Toronto took a leap of faith prior to any formal plan for a Rosary Crusade and adopted a resolution to “Endorse and recommend KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS | ONTARIO STATE BULLETIN | WINTER 2025

the program of the Family Rosary.” A few other highlights are the Order’s sponsorship of a month for Father Peyton’s radio program in March of 1948, with various councils coordinating programs for local radio stations. In 1956, the Knights of Columbus Board of Directors bestowed on Father Peyton the rare distinction of being named an Honorary Fourth Degree Knight, and in 1965, the Order donated $25,000 (equivalent to $250,000 today) towards a series of Rosary films that Father Peyton used to highlight Marian devotion to the world. Finally, the first “Canada Renewal Crusade” was held again in the Diocese of London, Ontario, for its Centenary Anniversary in 1956. Our Knights of Columbus unceasing efforts collected endless pledges again and again, as over 98% of the diocese committed to recite the daily prayer of the Family Rosary! Phase One of the Canadian independent major motion film, ALL FOR HER, will be accomplished through the power of the Holy Spirit, assisted via our Knights of Columbus and Catholic Media such as Salt & Light TV and The Catholic Register; for they realize the importance of leaving a legacy forever onscreen to combat a pro-death culture, where moral decay is the goal due to a steady consumption of disordered Hollywood narratives. Our world today is in desperate need of uplifting, inspiring, and quality Roman Catholic films that are not slanderous to the faith with immoral attacks against our religious. Where are the awesome classic and epic religious films of the 1950s-60s, such as THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, BEN HUR, THE ROBE, and THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD? The last “religious” epic film that had staying power at the movie theatres was Mel Gibson’s 2004 film, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST. Most Christian films today are fortunate if they receive a week at selected theatres and series such as THE CHOSEN are only available on apps or through streaming services. Roman Catholic filmmakers need our utmost support because cinema has the power to change the world with truth, with hope, and with love. Please consider a Knights of Columbus fundraiser for Father Peyton’s incredible life story in the film, ALL FOR HER, as you would be making a moral investment for the conversion of hearts and souls for future vocations and generations, and for the common good of all! Over the years, we’ve heard countless inspiring stories of families making a difference within our community. One such story is that of the Wright Family, who were recognized as the Ontario Family of the Year last year. David and Michelle, along with their three children, have actively contributed to their Church and community, engaging in numerous activities such as Community Breakfasts, Vacation Bible School, and Edge Camp, to name just a few. This program celebrates the vital role families play in supporting the mission and values of the Knights of Columbus. Outstranding Results: The Fishers of Men, Recruitment Contest The Fishers of Men 4 month membership recruitment contest July-October statistics. Out of approximately 2700 councils in the Alain territory, Ontario had 8 councils in the top 25 councils during this period that each won $250. Congratulations to these councils. Ontario had the largest number of councils to win cash prizes from Supreme. The percentage of their yearly quota achieved in the first four months. Meet our Associate State Chaplain By: Rev. Branden Gordon, S.D.B., K.C., Associate State Chaplain Fr. Branden Gordon, S.D.B. was born in Etobicoke, Ontario. After earning degrees in philosophy and education at York University, he served as an occasional teacher for the TCDSB. It was during this time that he responded to a call to consecrated life and priesthood. He started formation with the Society of Saint Francis de Sales in 2013, and in 2015 made his first profession of religious vows. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2023. In addition to his parish ministry at Saint Benedict's in Etobicoke, he also serves as Associate State Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus and Provincial Father Prior of the Columbian Squires. Dear Brother Knights, A merry Christmas to you and to all of your loved ones! May Jesus be born anew in our hearts, that we may continue to grow in holiness in the service of those most in need. Ontario Coats For Kids Program By: Mario Duguay, Coats for Kids Chaiman

The official launch of the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program has a tradition of being launched in Hamilton and is usually held in the week after Thanksgiving. This year our Associate State Chaplain Fr. Brendan Gordon, who is also the Chaplain for the Squires blessed the 2532 coats that was delivered to the Hamilton-Wentworth School Board. In the past wo years, our flagship charity program saw its donation of coats double. This year under the BOGO program we received a total of 585 free boxes from Supreme for a total of 7,020 coats. We continue to provide the Coats for Veterans component which provides some comfort and care to our homeless veteran community. As of November 20, 2025, Ontario donated a total of 18,564 coats to children and adults compared to 18,696 coats for the full 2024-2025 Fraternal Year. We should be able to match or exceed our 2024-2025 numbers. Keep in mind that it is not too late to participate in the program. You can buy coats until February. We do get request annually because new immigrants or refugees arrive anytime during the year. We would like to thank all the councils who continue to support this program year after year and to thank all the councils who donated coats for the first time. Together we do make a difference in the life of some many children and adults with this program. We are truly blessed to have your ongoing support. ONTARIO KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS 50/50 RAFFLE By: Henry Miller, State Treasurer

Brothers, are you looking for ways to engage your councils, parishes and communities, raise council funds for charity, and have some fun along the way? Your answer, I think, would be a resounding yes! Our Ontario Knights of Columbus 50/50 Raffle can help you with all of this and more. For example, the 50/50 Raffle will help you recruit members by showing prospective Knights what councils actually do to help put faith into action. Once they see the level of engagement with parish and community that 50/50 Raffle participation brings and how, individually, they can make a positive difference by helping promote your councils’ participation they definitely will want to become members. Indeed, our beloved dearly departed Past State Deputy Paul Crawford first became involved with the Knights selling Ontario State lottery tickets. Councils also can use participation in the 50/50 Raffle as a powerful element of developing and implementing successful Faith in Action programs, effectively tailored to local needs. This, in turn, will help them achieve Columbian and Star Council awards. Ontario has a long and successful history of running a State lottery in various forms, beginning, in 1920, with the initiation of the Knights of Columbus “Tombola” in Ottawa by Bayswater Council No. 1812. Now, with all the advantages of modern technology, our 50/50 Raffle is digital, using Rafflebox as our service provider. It’s Canadian, easy to use, user-friendly and extremely cost effective, with fees of only 5% of ticket price. Tickets easily can be purchased on-line at ontariokofc.ca. There are four ways to pay for purchases: debit, credit card, Google and Apple Pay. The more tickets you buy the lower the price of each ticket. importantly, councils customarily receive a commission of 25% on their tickets sold, which is an excellent source of revenue for funding councils’ charitable programs. To assist councils with raffle ticket sales, for example, in conjunction with council events, Point of Sale (POS) handheld devices are available for rent or purchase ($35 per month rental plus $125 activation fee). Ontario State Office is also strongly committed to supporting councils with their ticket sales by offering councils free use of a POS machine for two-week periods. State Office is happy to assist and provide further details. Currently, some 293 councils out of some 460 active councils participate in the 50/50 Raffle (63%). Together, we can increase participation, benefiting both individual councils and Ontario State. It’s also very important to keep in mind that increasing participation means increasing both the number of councils participating and the number of tickets that each participating council sells. The current 50/50 Raffle has a start date of September 5, 2025, with a $500 Early Bird draw on October 14, 2025, and the Grand Prize Draw on December 30, 2025. Will you be part of it? ONTARIO HAS BEEN VERY BUSY WITH ACTIVITY DURING THIS CALENDAR YEAR By: Henry Miller, State Treasurer

Ontario has certainly been very busy with activity. During this calendar year, Ontario State has provided three online 50/50 raffles, up one from 2024. The early bird winners and grand prize winners are always announced through the State office but to recap, the first grand prize winner amount was $11,210 and the second grand prize winner amount was $8,005. I admit there have been larger grand prize amounts in the past but it all depends on the number of purchases. For anyone older than 18 years old and resides in Ontario, you can click this link to the Ontario State website to make a purchase (https://www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/k-of-c-ont/). The current pot is already larger than the past two raffles, so purchase some tickets and give yourself a chance to win before December 30th. There will be three raffles in 2026. The 2025–2026 Wheelchair program has been successful, in that the order for wheelchairs had been placed in late October and the shipment to Mexico should be sometime in May 2026. The Ontario State global wheelchair mission chairman is Shane James and donations are accepted throughout the year at this link (https://cdnwheelchair.ca/). The CWF will provide a tax donation receipt. Bruce Poulin was recently appointed the Eastern Canada Senior Representative for CWF. Donations going forward will go towards 2027 which will also be sent to Mexico. The annual Coats for Kids have taken everyone’s attention for the past two months and State Director Mario Duguay and the staff at the Ontario office have done a fantastic job this year. This year for the first time, we had two Coats for Kids kickoffs, one in Hamilton and one in Tilbury for the Windsor/Essex & Kent County region. The bogo “buy one and get one” program helps us tremendously to get more coats onto more children and veterans than without the bogo feature. We were told that Ontario would be allocated less than last year but we did reach our maximum 585 cases of bogo coats. How significant is 585 free cases from Supreme? The value is over $222,000. I’ll let brother Mario give you all the details of what we reached together for this year. Thank you, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly, Deputy Supreme Knight Arthur Peters and all the Supreme Directors for their generosity to Ontario State. The gift of warmth is an essential for children and adults alike and is a gift of love. My sincere thanks to all councils and members that purchased coats.

State Membership Director Dem Magmanlac and the rest of the membership team have been very busy talking with District Deputies and Grand Knights to help them organize church drives in our churches. We started out slowly with 4% of our quota in July and in August, being at 8% at Labour Day weekend. September the Councils had a burst of energy and during September we reached 12% to get us to 20% at the end of September and we earned a reduction with this achievement. October everyone put the pedal to the metal and reached 14% by the end of October. November shows no signs of stopping. See the membership growth chart to see how we compare to the last fraternal year when Bruce Poulin’s team achieved a record year for membership growth. With a reorganization by Supreme within the 5 regions in the USA and Canada, we were appointed a new Regional Growth Director, William “Bill” Chasse. Bill is a Past State Deputy from Michigan. I’ve scheduled townhalls with District Deputies to meet Bill in Toronto and Oshawa in October and Orléans and Ottawa in November. There were a couple of hiccups, that happens in life, but overall RGD Bill was delighted to meet Knights in Ontario and was very impressed with those he met. Supreme granted a request to have a Blessed McGivney relic in Ontario for the purpose to heal someone who was very ill. We received it in mid August and it traveled to many Councils and parishes until mid November. I’ve seen many reports from the District Deputies along with some photos and it was well received. The parish pastors have been very receptive to the McGivney relic (a first class relic – a bone of Blessed McGivney, our founder) and many pastors held healing masses. At the time of writing this report, I do not have the summary stats but I will share them when I can review all the reports sent to me. I plan to send a summary of statistics to Supreme expressing our thanks to have had the McGivney relic in Ontario. I’ve had more requests for the relic and I’ve asked Supreme recently if we can have it again in Ontario in 2026. I’ll report if that happens. As I began my report, Knights have been very busy in Ontario these first five months. Activity with many programs helps to bring the Knights of Columbus to higher awareness in our communities and helps to keep our members of all ages excited to be a member of the Knights of Columbus. MARK YOUR CALENDARS, BROTHER KNIGHTS – OTTAWA AWAITS! By: Todd Cowan, Convention 2026 Chair Brother Knights, it’s time to take out those well-worn calendars, smartphones, day planners — or whatever sacred scheduling system you rely on — and circle the dates for one of the most important gatherings of our fraternal year. Our Annual Ontario State Convention will be held April 22 to 26, 2026, at the beautiful Westin Hotel in Ottawa, and I am encouraging Knights from every corner of our great province to make plans to attend. The State Convention is much more than a formal meeting. It is a celebration of our faith, fraternity, and shared mission. It is where ideas are exchanged, friendships renewed, achievements recognized, and the future direction of the Knights of Columbus in Ontario is shaped. It is where we come together as one brotherhood — from small rural councils to bustling urban assemblies — united in our commitment to charity, unity, and service. Ottawa provides the perfect backdrop for this gathering. As our nation’s capital, it offers history, inspiration, and a setting worthy of the dedication and service that our brother Knights demonstrate year-round in their parishes and communities. The Westin Hotel will provide a comfortable, central location for our meetings, hospitality, and fellowship — and yes, more than a few opportunities for laughs and late-night Knightly storytelling.

THE RETURN OF THE ST. KATERI RELIC By: Bruce S. Poulin, IPSD

On October 27, our IPSD, Bruce S. Poulin, returned the Statue of St. Kateri to her Shrine at the St. Francis-Xavier Mission in Kahnawake, QC. Members will recall that the Statue had been loaned by the St. Francis-Xavier Mission for the duration of his tenure as State Deputy for Ontario (July 2023-June 2025). This is St. Kateri’s burial site. The St. Francis-Xavier Mission is a Historic Catholic mission located in Kahnawake, Quebec. It was established in the 17th century and is known for its association wiht Sain Kateri Tekakwitha, the first Native American saint. The mission serves as a place of worship and a cultural heritage site reflecting the rich history and traditions of the Mohawk people and their Catholic faith. The mission was founded by the Jesuit missionaries and has played a significant role in the religious and cultural life of the Kahnawake community. It is a symbol of the blending of Indigenous and Catholic traditions. Saint Kateri is also known as teh ‘Lily of the Mohawks’, was baptized at the mission and lived there until her death. She was canonized by the Catholic Church in 2012, and her legacy continues to inspire many.

CHRISTMAS LIFE PROGRAM UPDATE By: Alex Schadenberg, Life Director

Christmas Life Programs Update… The Christmas Season helps us to focus on the gift of life, the gift of a baby born to a woman in Bethlehem and a Child who was born to bring us eternal life. The Knights of Columbus Supreme Office has given us the gift of two new Life Programs. The first new Life Program is the Holy Hour for Life with Our Lady of Guadalupe. Supreme provides a Holy Hour for Life Booklet that can be downloaded online or by ordering it (#11887). By following the format in the booklet, every council is able to do this program. Supreme has suggested that the program be done on December 12 (Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe) or March 25 (International Day for the Unborn Child). In Ontario, this program can also be done on Thursday, May 14 (in conjunction with the National March for Life). The second new Life Program is the Gospel of Life program which is based on the Gospel of Life encyclical that was written by St. Pope John Paul II. The Gospel of Life program is exciting as it provides excellent materials that are designed to be used with a COR session. Therefore, every council that has established COR can use the Gospel of Life program materials. There are 12 Gospel of Life program chapters within The Gospel of Life Study Guide (#614). There is also a guide sheet (#11756), a brochure (#11915) and a prayer card (#4237). All of these items can be ordered from Supreme or downloaded online. If your council has not established the COR program, The Gospel of Life Study Guide provides an opportunity for men in the parish to examine the Catholic Church teachings on the sanctity of human life. Even if your council is not interested in this program, The Gospel of Life materials are excellent for informing you. The existing Life Programs enable your council to make a difference. For instance, the Aid and Support after Pregnancy (ASAP) program enables your council to increase your donation to help woman choose life. For every $500 donation to a Pregnancy Centre or a Maternity Home, Supreme will send the same Pregnancy Centre or Maternity Home $100. There is a maximum donation of $2000 for this matching program. As the New Year approaches, councils should begin to organize our response to the National March for Life. We urge councils to book a bus in order to bring parish members to the March for Life in Ottawa. This year the March for Life will be on Thursday May 14, 2026. VICE SUPREME MASTERCARDINAL MCGUIGAN PROVINCE OF THE 4TH DEGREE By: Alain Cayer, Vice Supreme Master Cardinal McGuigan Province

To my Worthy Brothers and Sir Knights in Ontario, last August, the Supreme Board of Directors, with the support of our Worthy Supreme Master’s recommendation, decided to entrust me to lead the Cardinal Mcguigan Province of the 4th degree in the role of Vice Supreme Master. My experience from moving through the ranks in my council 7743 and assembly 1753, then stepping up as District Deputy 58 and moving through the chairs of your state board from 2008 until serving you as State Deputy from 2015-17 has well prepared me for this new challenge. Last year, serving as District Master #6 in the French district in the eastern Ontario has opened my eyes as to the important role, we as Sir Knights play in the visibility of our Order. As an update from who I am to some of you that may have lost track of me, with the support of my wife Lady Sheryl, my 4 daughters and now 5 grandkids, we reside in the outer Ottawa area. Working for Supreme head office as Territorial Growth Director leading a territory of 10 Jurisdictions. My vision for our Patriotic Degree of the Order is to have visibility through programs that will lead us to recruit more new Sir Knights. How will this happen? -More emphasis on the ask brother knights about taking the last step to their journey of full Knighthood. This will create more help to be able to organize better and bigger programs that will lead in more recruiting. -More Sir Knights purchased their uniform to be part of honor guards. These better attended honor guards show more respect when at funeral and better visibility when in public. We promised obedience to our Superior Officers and by which this means we respect and support the change from regalia to uniform. We no longer accept the use of the Chapeau and cape from the regalia. -Full slate of District Masters is required to offer the best support to our Assemblies. We have 8 of 9 District Masters fulfilled. -More than ever recognizing our assemblies with the Star Assembly award. Do not be shy to be rewarded when deserved. The award is to thank the volunteers that help you make your goals a reality. They have one paycheck, the award. Sir Knights and Brother Knights, as we see a shift of excitement about our Church, we need to work together for the betterment of our Order. “One for all, all for one” is a great moto. I think about this often, and as I look back on the year – reminiscing onall of the relationships I have made with Knights and the security I have helped providethem and their families, I am incredibly grateful. Now, I ask you – as we close out 2025 and as you spend additional time with your family, consider how any changes from the past year might affect your life insurance portfolio. Even joyous occasions like buying a new house or sending a kid to college this fall can impact your insurance needs. Are you certain your current coverage is adequate and up to date?
