Breathing Bridge

The structure has 2 main aims - to negotiate the sudden terrain of the entrance to Sebino, and to create a focal point for user congregation, regardless whether man, bird or insect. Learning from baubotanik and the larger subject of topiary, the breathing bridge starts of as a simple frame with seedlings of native trees planted at its base. Over time, the young trees will climb up along the path of steel columns and cables until eventually this steel tetris transforms into a living, breathing part of Sebino.
Situated at perhaps the most photographed portion of the site, Wetland Point is comprised of a series of curved timber members and floating wetland matrix with the aim to become a home to whichever critters find their way there. Where the structure meets the water, native aquatic and semi aquatic plants create ideal conditions for ducks to nest. Just above them, the exiting balustrade of the iconic bridge and been retrofitted with insect houses of various scales. The ideal conditions are thus set for a symbiotic exchange between the two groups, and many others who might chance upon it along the way
Although it has created some beautiful and unique scenery, the peat excavation of the past has also altered the natural topography of the site rather drastically. Because of this, along with various factors, the pike population has dwindled significantly. Spawn Cove is a modest pavilion with a ambitious goal of fish habitat recovery. The curved timber frames create a much gentler slope crea and shallower waters on Sebino. In between these frames, discarded parts of the site such as deadfall or rocks, are tapped upon to create ideal conditions for pi pike to flourish. All while being a serene spot for the occasional visitor to take a break.
