It’s not only pet owners that fancy a warm spring day to get outside and stretch the muscles, but also four-legged companions, whether out for a stroll on a leash or simply tied outside with a companion. These two dogs didn’t mind their modeling shoot in a yard located just off Main Street North in Minnedosa on a morning of sunshine and calm winds. With temperatures in the 25° to 28°C mark this weekend, farmers, gardeners, and pets will be rejoicing.

Residents and business owners in Minnedosa can expect some changes to their waste collection services following the Town of Minnedosa’s new contract with MWM Environmental. The shift, announced earlier this spring, affects both pickup logistics and bill-

ing practices across the municipality. MWM is expected to take over from the Town of Minnedosa and begin services on approximately July 1.
According to Chief Administrative Officer Danniele Carriere, properties will be categorized for service based on zoning and assessment.

“Single and multi-unit properties are classified as residential,” she explained, “while business properties are determined by assessment classification and zoning, and reviewed by administration.”
For most households, weekly garbage pickup will continue,
though pickup days may shift. MWM will be distributing new trash carts for household waste, but recycling practices – including bagging and collection – will remain the same for now.
Billing for waste and recycling services will also look different. Previously charged as a special levy on property taxes, the costs will now appear on residents’ util-
ity bills. In 2025, the annual fee will be split between the July and October utility cycles. Starting in 2026, the cost will be divided evenly across all four quarterly bills.
Notices regarding this change were included with the most recent utility statements.
