Festival fun – just for the kids K
ids get ready for a whole lot of fun this coming July school holidays. The Yarrawonga Mulwala Kids Festival from July 6 to 13 will have you packing away the computer games and strapping on your backpacks for a jam-packed timetable of local activities catering for all ages.
Among the Yarrawonga Mulwala Kids Festival highlights will be the World class sand sculptures around town, Junior Rangers Adventures and you can even see Mik Mak in live and interactive performance. Kids and can also meet Murray the Cod and look out for those Pirates of Cumberoona. Back by popular demand you can help the Pirates

ake time to relax, unwind and enjoy a visit to the historical treasure that is the 176-year old Byramine Homestead. Winter is the perfect season to visit the Homestead and Brewery with guests able to book in and dine for lunch by the fires of the glorious homestead. With the popularity and ambencse of the homestead bookings are essential with visitors able to book an entire room or simply a table by the fire. The homestead was built in 1842 by the famous explorer, Hamilton Hume for his sister-in-law Elizabeth Hume and her nine children after her husband was murdered by bushrangers. It is classified by the National Trust because of its unique design featuring octagonal rooms. The central octagonal room is known as the fortress room and allows a clear view of all angles in case of attack from bushrangers or natives. Visiting the Byramine Homestead, with its own brewery and cider house, is a complete experience. The range of beer and cider has increased to ten varieties and visitors are loving the experience of sampling the diverse range on offer.
The 176-year old Byramine Homestead is the perfect venue for functions and events. Pictured is a recent theatre production held at the homestead. Guests are able to tour the historic homestead and while visiting enjoy a Devonshire Tea or something off the lunch menu. Start the season off with a trip to the winery on Friday, June 7 for the wineries famous Giant Warehouse Sale. Always held on the Friday prior to the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, there are wine bargains galore. Don’t forget, the early bird catches the worm! Festival – Winery Walkabout. Held over the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, a general admission ticket to Winery Walkabout gets you access to wine tastings, live music, entertainment and more at over 19 wineries, making for a jam-packed, fun-filled long weekend! Pre-purchasing your tickets early is highly recommended. The highly anticipated and extremely popular Pfeiffer Wines Photographic Exhibition heads into its sixth year throughout July. Over 150 images will be on display at the winery throughout the month, all featuring a wide variety of photographic styles and techniques. The Pfeiffer Wines Photographic Exhibition is a “pfree” opportunity for artists to showcase their works within the wineries historic cellar door. All photographs will be available for sale to the public and Pfeiffer Wines does not take commission for the sale of any pieces. A Pfeiffer Wines Farmers Market is a must do when visiting the North East. The winery plays host to a market every season and the Pfeiffer Wines Winter Farmers Market is one of the best. Held in the wineries idyllic grounds there will be a delicious assortment of winter produce, seasonal staples, gourmet indulgences, fruits and

The Chrysties collection is one of the best private collections of eclectic antiques, collectibles and rare finds you will ever come across. The collection is the result many years of dedication from owner and namesake George Chrystie and stretches over an incredible four
acres. “I don’t think we could be called just a car museum or a collectables store because we have something here for everyone,” George said. Indeed George is true to his word and prides himself on presenting a collection that boasts ‘having one of everything ever produced in the 20th Century’. From his prized Ford Zephyrs and 1930s-40s caravans, one of a kind tractors - even many farmers would
never have seen before- hundreds of old kerosene lamps to old newspapers and magazines, if you can think of something made from metal or wood, chances are George has one. ituated midway between Cobram to the East and Echuca to the West is the beautiful area known as the Western Moira Tourism Region, containing the towns of Nathalia, Barmah and Picola. Nathalia, the major town in the region and is situated on the Murray Valley Highway with both Picola and Barmah on the alternate Echuca Road, via Picola-Katunga road. Nathalia is nestled on the banks of the tranquil Broken Creek, a great spot to break your trip or to enjoy lunch. The creek is stocked with fish and is the venue for a number of fishing competitions hosted by the Nathalia Angling Club. Barmah is an access point to the magnificent Barmah State Park, the largest Redgum Forest in the southern hemisphere and an area of significant importance in both indigenous and early settlement culture. There are three caravan parks, a great pub, cafes and a motel in Barmah and there is a self-guided walk brochure available to allow you to take in the history and heritage of the township and surrounds. While at Barmah, you can enjoy cruising the Murray on Kingfisher Cruises, which is renowned as the best Ecotourism experience on the Murray. Travel “The Narrows”, where the mighty Murray travels through its narrowest stretch. View the beautiful Barmah and Moira Lakes and wetlands while hearing about the history, birdlife, flora and fauna of the area from qualified and experienced crew. The tourist information centre for the area is housed in the fantastic Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre on the Murray Valley Highway, at the Southern end of Nathalia. The centre is open 7 days a week and houses regular exhibitions of art, photography and other cultural events, together with a static display giving a pictorial history of the Barmah Forest and its influence and impact on the area. This is centre is must stop for all visitors and a great spot to grab a cold drink or a coffee, some local produce, post cards, gifts and souvenirs, while you meander through the centre. Situated on the West side of Blake Street in Nathalia is The Grain Store, a small exhibition space for local artists and a home to regular exhibitions, cultural events and workshops. Explore the Kyabram Fauna Park

ool, crisp winter days are perfect for wandering through the picturesque Kyabram Fauna Park and getting up close to the 600 native animals that call the park home. Visitors will enjoy free-ranging kangaroos, emus and wallabies as well as exhibits featuring koalas, echidna, wombats, quolls, native birds, dingoes, flying foxes and more.
