FAIRFIELD — Solano County maintained its hold on the spread of the novel coronavirus as some key numbers crept up Thursday with four new virus-related deaths reported. The Public Health Division reported 44 new cases from Wednesday to Thursday to take the countywide total to 30,951. There were 36 more active cases – now at 258 – as the number of hospi-

All California adults can get vaccine next month Tribune Content Agency LOS ANGELES — California is dramatically expanding the eligibility for Covid-19 vaccines, offering the shots to virtually all residents beginning next month, the state announced Thursday. Residents who are at least 50 years old can get vaccines starting April 1, and all California adults will be eligible starting April 15. State officials said the

dramatic move is based on expected increases in vaccine supply. “The light at the end of the tunnel continues to get brighter,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement. “We remain focused on equity as we extend vaccine eligibility to those older than 50 starting April 1, and those older than 16 starting April 15. State’s top court ends cash bail for some defendants who can’t afford it Tribune Content Agency SAN FRANCISCO — In a major ruling affecting criminal justice across 58 counties, the California Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the state cannot keep criminal defendants behind bars simply because they cannot afford to post bail pending their trial. The unanimous decision by the California Supreme Court comes four months after 55% of voters refused to end cash bail at the ballot box. While a hit to the state’s bail industry, Thurs-
