Off-duty emergency personnel jumped into action Thursday morning to rescue a woman trapped in her burning El Dorado Hills home. Prior to on-duty firefighters arriving at the 7 a.m. blaze on Dec. 19, El Dorado Hills Fire Capt. Adam Tiffany and Cal Fire firefighter Gary Culmer “saw the house on fire and found a victim trapped on the second floor at the window,” interim EDH Fire Chief Michael Lilienthal told the Mountain Democrat.

Volunteer elves Bob Vilalobos and Dennis Kissinger run the Toys for Tots elf station, where volunteers to pick out toys for the families. Below, countless bags of pre-sorted toys are ready for the Toys for Tots drive-thru distribution held in mid-December.
