JULY 2025
THRIFT VOLUNTEER NEWSLETTER
Keeping our valued volunteers informed
GM’s Corner Over the past year we have added many new faces to our volunteer team. In our April, May, and June monthly newsletters alone, we introduced you to 34 individuals who received orientation and are now investing their time with us on a regular basis. This newsletter welcomes another 12! Our history as a Shop indicates that we have a strong commitment to welcoming newcomers and creating space for people to build relationships. These relationships become a significant and fulfilling part of their lives. One of our “legacy” volunteers commented on the diverse relationships she had developed while volunteering. At her husband’s funeral, her church friends asked why there were so many people from other churches there. She told them she had met many of them at the “Benefit Shop” (a “nickname” for our Shop for much of its history). Today, we have a team of 180 active volunteers. More than 75 have joined us in the past 15 months!
As an organization, MCC has made a clear commitment over the next five years to amplifying peace, strengthening our local impact, and growing relationships and partnerships. Peace comes through positive relationships. We hope that your experience at the “Benefit Shop” allows you to develop the kind of relationships that are mutually beneficial and add deep satisfaction to your life. One last word to our more than 25 high school volunteers… congratulations on completing another year of school! We welcome you as you contribute to our team this summer! Keep on,
Tim Albrecht
