CLUB NEWS A MESSAGE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER As we enter the holiday season, it is the perfect time to give thanks to both our staff and our membership. We have had a calendar full of great events, with wonderful participation and support from our members. With our membership continuing to grow, we have worked hard to add new events to an already busy schedule. Our staff has also worked diligently to provide a consistent and positive experience every time you visit the Club. During the winter months, we will continue to review our events and programs with the goal of enhancing the experience for everyone in the year ahead. We still have several exciting events to look forward to in 2026, including the Wine Dinner in November, Thanksgiving Buffet, Wine Expo in December, Bubbles & Blooms, Brunch, Breakfast with Santa, and the ever-popular Polar Express.

I hope by now you have had an opportunity to try our brand-new menu, which was introduced in September. The Chicken Milanese, Beef Short Rib, and Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl have quickly become member favorites. There are also plenty of other new options to choose from, and we hope you enjoy exploring the menu. I would also like to take a moment to recognize the Wakefield Ladies Golf Association (WLGA), which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. The WLGA has truly been a staple of the Club from the very beginning. The impact this group has had on the Club, both on and off the course, is truly special and very much appreciated. Congratulations on 25 wonderful years! Lastly, if you have not yet had an opportunity to check out the Serenity Studio, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Sports Club staff. We are excited to offer this new amenity and hope it will help ease aches and pains while supporting recovery. Your continued support of our staff and the Club is sincerely appreciated. We are grateful for your participation, and the enthusiasm you bring to the Club. Wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday season. Michael Thomas, General Manager

WELCOME TODD LOVE TO THE TEAM! We are excited to announce that Todd Love has joined our team as our Assistant General Manager. Todd grew up in Clemmons, North Carolina, and began his college career at the College of Charleston before graduating from NC State University with degrees in Sports Management and Business. He has spent the past 20 years in the private club industry, gaining valuable experience at North Hills Club and North Ridge Country Club. Todd will be a tremendous asset to our team, assisting in all areas of club operations, with an emphasis on food and beverage and facility management. Todd and his wife Stephanie, who is the Executive Sous Chef at The Umstead, have been married for three years. When Todd is not at work, he enjoys playing golf, fishing, cooking and exploring Raleigh’s incredible restaurant scene with his wife. Please join me in welcoming Todd to the Wakefield Plantation team!

COOKIES OF THE MONTH DECEMBER COOKIE OF THE MONTH: CANDIED BACON SUGAR COOKIE BRANDON WALLACE, EXECUTIVE CHEF AT COBBLESTONE GOLF CLUB “It started one Christmas when my daughter wanted to make cookies for Santa. I had always told her that Santa loved sugar cookies, because those were my favorite. That particular year, we decided to step it up a bit— mostly because of the size of her list! So I said, “It’s late at night… early in the morning… so let’s add bacon too.” Once we started making the cookies, I thought about candied bacon (I’m also a huge bacon fan), so we took a last-minute shot at it. They came out so good. I couldn’t wait until she went to sleep so I could finish them off. She’s older now, so we haven’t made them in a while, but I’m thinking about making another batch this weekend because they’re just that good!” - Chef Brandon Wallace

FITNESS A MESSAGE FROM HEATHER I hope this finds you happy and healthy. Now that cooler weather and illness season is here, let's be sure to stay hydrated and rested. It's no secret that eating a good diet that includes enough vitamins and minerals boosts your immune system. Exercise is also important for supporting immune health. Cardio for 30 minutes every day will increase your respiration and keep your susceptibility of infection at bay. Regular moderate exercise supports overall health and may help support normal immune function. It pumps blood and lymph fluid, moving white blood cells and natural killer cells through your body faster. It will boost cellular readiness, helping them spot and fight bacteria and viruses early. Another bonus is that regular exercise slows down the release of stress hormones like cortisol which can also suppress immune function. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that overdoing it will actually cause a temporary drop in immune function. Working with a trainer can help manage your program with the best benefits for you.

Stay healthy and happy my friends! Heather Bailey Overington, Personal Trainer Phone: 919-649-3007 | Email: baileyfunfitness@aol.com

TENNIS TIME

🎾 WAKEFIELD PLANTATION TENNIS & PICKLEBALL What an exciting time to be part of the Wakefield tennis community! Since joining the team in August, I’ve truly enjoyed meeting so many of you and have appreciated the warm welcome I’ve received. I’m looking forward to all that’s ahead! My love for tennis began at an early age growing up in Georgia, where I competed as a nationally ranked junior player. I went on to play Division I tennis at East Carolina University and have been a USPTA-certified professional since 2010. Most recently, I spent over five years at Raleigh Racquet Club, coaching players of all ages, directing junior development programs, and organizing tennis events and socials. As we look toward the coming months, our tennis team is excited to build on Wakefield’s wonderful traditions while bringing fresh ideas, new adult and junior clinics, and fun social events to the courts. My passion has always been making tennis more than just a game. It’s about friendships, community, a little healthy competition, and, most importantly, having fun!

We have some exciting events coming up: Calling all tennis ladies! Our Ladies Member Guest is coming up on Friday November 13! Ladies, find your favorite tennis gal pal and join us for a day full of tennis, lunch and FUN! Whether you’re a seasoned player, just getting started, or returning to the game, we hope you’ll join us! I look forward to hearing your ideas, meeting more of our members, and making this a fantastic season of tennis at Wakefield. See you on the courts! Andrea Terrill Assistant Director of Tennis and Pickleball

TEE IT UP A MESSAGE FROM YOUR DIRECTOR OF GOLF Fall is one of the most enjoyable times of year to play golf in North Carolina. Cooler temperatures, beautiful scenery, and excellent playing conditions make the coming months a wonderful opportunity to spend more time at Wakefield and enjoy all that our golf course has to offer. As we move into the fall golf calendar, I would also like to remind everyone of the importance of pace of play. Our goal is not simply to play faster, but to maintain a comfortable pace that allows everyone on the course to enjoy their round. Please be mindful of your position relative to the group ahead. Being ready when it is your turn, moving efficiently between shots, and making thoughtful decisions when searching for a golf ball are simple ways, we can all help

maintain a good pace. Most importantly, remember that your pace affects more than just your own group—it contributes to the overall experience of everyone playing behind you. In the Golf Shop, something new will be taking flight at The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out for a special new mark, inspired by a familiar club landmark appearing on select merchandise this fall. As we welcome the arrival of fall, I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the course. Whether you're participating in a club event, playing a casual round with friends, or simply taking advantage of a beautiful North Carolina afternoon, this is a special time of year at WP. Thank you for your continued support of the golf operation and for helping us maintain the traditions, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that make Wakefield such a wonderful place to play. I look forward to seeing you around the club this fall. Joey Latino, PGA, Director of Golf
