CLUB UPDATES Dear Members, It has been a wonderful summer at Wilson Country Club, and one of the highlights has been seeing the continued growth of our youth and family programming. Our summer camps brought great energy to the Club, with our youngest members enjoying new activities, building friendships, and creating memories along the way. Much of that success is thanks to Gracie Lindfors, who has done an exceptional job leading our activities programming. Gracie brings creativity, enthusiasm, and genuine care to everything she does. From planning and organizing our camps to creating an environment where every child feels welcomed and included, her dedication has made a tremendous impact. The relationships she has built with our young members and families have been wonderful to see, and we are very fortunate to have her as part of the WCC team. I would also like to thank our entire team for their hard work and dedication throughout a very busy summer. I am grateful for the commitment shown across every department. We have also enjoyed seeing more members take an interest in tennis and pickleball, whether they are new to the game or returning to the courts. If you have been thinking about giving either sport a try, keep an eye out for our complimentary beginner clinics—a great opportunity to get started. We also hope to see you at the upcoming US Open Tennis Event, hosted by our Director of Tennis & Pickleball, Grace McCartney. September and October bring an exciting stretch of golf at the Club. We are looking forward to our 65th Men’s Member-Guest Invitational and upcoming Club Championships. These events are a great opportunity to enjoy competitive golf and some of WCC’s favorite traditions. Thank you, as always, for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you around! Warm regards, Maya Panayotova General Manager

TEE IT UP UPCOMING EVENTS

Dear Members, It’s hard to believe summer is already behind us and we are heading into the final stretch of the golf season. We started the summer with hot and very dry conditions, but thankfully the rain eventually arrived and helped green up the course. A huge thank you to Craig and his entire Golf Maintenance Team for all their hard work in keeping the course in great playing condition despite the challenges this summer. Summer is always a busy time for junior golf, and this year was no different. We had two very successful Junior Golf Camps, with one focused on introducing younger juniors to the game and another helping our older juniors prepare for their upcoming school golf seasons.

We also recently crowned our 2026 Junior Club Champions: Boys 15–18: Zach Owens Boys 13–14: Tripp Harris Boys 11–12: Brady Howell Boys 10 & U: Thomas Wright

Girls 13–14: Abigail Owens Girls 11–12: Addison Lovett Girls 10 & U: Mary Neal Dunn

Our Parent/Child Championship was another great event and a fun way to spend an evening on the course: 15 & Older Champions: Shawn & Zach Owens 15 & Older Runners-Up: Tim Pennington & Braden Welter 14 & U Champions: Brandon & Wesley Leonard 14 & U Runners-Up: Richard & Tripp Harris

Congratulations to all of our Junior Club Champions and our Parent/Child Champions and everyone who competed! A special congratulations to Sullivan McInerny, who recorded his first hole-in-one on #3 from the red tees during the Parent/Child Championship! Fall is on its way, and we have a busy few months ahead as we finish out our 2026 tournament calendar. We hope you will join us for the remaining events and take advantage of what is always some of the best golf weather of the year. As the course transitions into fall, please continue to do your part by filling your divots and repairing ball marks whenever you see them. These small things go a long way in keeping the course in great shape for everyone. We look forward to seeing you around the club this fall and finishing out another great golf season together. Fairways and Greens, Thomas Walker, PGA Director of Golf

UPCOMING FITTING DAYS TaylorMade | September 10 | 10:00am-2:30pm October 6 | 10:00am-2:30pm Titleist | September 17 | 1:00pm-4:45pm

TURF TALK This summer certainly has been one for the record books! It has got to be one of the hottest and most humid summers I have experienced. Hot and dry at first, but ultimately hot and humid. We had a major flush of growth on the Bermuda grass in late July because both the spring application of fertilizer as well as the slow-release application of fertilizer had been sitting there breaking down by whatever little bit of moisture and humidity it could grab ahold of during the extreme dry period that we had. There were no rain events to fully put it into solution for the soil and, in turn, the plants. So, it sat there, and then we got a few big rains, and that’s all she wrote! The Bermuda took off and grew, and it didn’t take long!

MEN’S MEMBER GUEST Thursday, October 8 - Saturday, October 10 Format | Five (5) nine-hole better ball net matches per flight Entry Fee | $950 per team Theme for the Event | Great Gatsby: It’s going to be a roar of a great time! Wilson Country Club is excited to present the 65th Annual Men’s Member-Guest, right around the corner! This year, we’re stepping back into the Roaring Twenties with a Great Gatsby theme. Get ready for three days of outstanding golf, great fellowship, friendly competition, and a few surprises along the way. From the first tee shot to the final celebration, it’s sure to be a roaring good time!

It has been a challenging summer. We have seen both ends of the spectrum, going from one of the driest springs and months of June to one of the wettest Julys on record. We ended up delaying fairway aerification from the first part of June to the middle of July because of how dry it was. Then it started raining pretty much daily once we began aerifying the fairways. Ultimately, we fell short a few holes due to a breakdown of the fairway aerifier and a lack of accessibility to parts in a timely manner. Soon, we hope to have some new equipment arrive that will hopefully make all our lives in the maintenance facility a bit easier, as we have been riddled with breakdowns this summer due to the age of the equipment mostly. We are all looking forward to that showing up! I hope to see you all out on the course soon! Sincerely, Craig Clemmer Wilson Country Club Superintendent

COURTSIDE NEWS As we wrap up a fantastic summer, I want to thank everyone who helped make it such a successful season on the courts! We had five great summer camps with wonderful participation, energy, and enthusiasm from our junior players. A special thank-you to our coaches and volunteers for sharing their time, knowledge, and passion for the game. Your support played a big part in making our summer programs so enjoyable and successful! As we settle into the school-year routine, we’re excited to kick off our September and October junior clinics and keep the momentum going into fall. A big good luck to all of our middle and high school girls as they compete this season, we’ll be cheering you on! With cooler temperatures and beautiful fall weather ahead, there’s no better time to get outside and enjoy the courts. We have plenty of clinics, events, and lesson opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re looking to improve your game, get back on the court, or simply enjoy some time playing with friends, we’d love to see you out there this fall! See you on the courts! INSIDE MCCONNELL GOLF

SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB SECURES PLACE IN PGA TOUR’S NEW CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES One of the PGA TOUR’s longest-running relationships will continue into a new era as Sedgefield Country Club remains home to Greensboro’s PGA TOUR event. Beginning in 2028, the tournament will become part of the new PGA TOUR Championship Series, with Raymond James serving as title sponsor. The event will be contested as a full-field PGA TOUR event in 2027 before transitioning to the Championship Series. Founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, the tournament has been won by legends including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, with Sedgefield hosting the event more than 40 times. After a 31-year absence, the PGA TOUR returned to Sedgefield in 2008 following the restoration of its Donald Rossdesigned course, and McConnell Golf acquired the club in 2011.
