UPCOMING FEBRUARY EVENTS It's been a great year for the culinary team at Wilson Country Club. As we get closer to the end of 2025 and look ahead to New Year’s Eve, we take a moment to reflect on a very busy and successful year! We are especially proud of our culinary team as two of our talented staff members stepped into management roles. Our year was full of activity, from preparing Thanksgiving food packages for our guests to hosting holiday parties for local businesses and groups. In late summer, we introduced comment cards in the Club Room. We've had great feedback from our members as well as staff on some of our weekly feature dishes. These insights are shared at our team meetings, helping us maintain consistency and continuously improve. With the help of our great sales reps and local purveyors, our kitchen mantra has been named "Fresh to Death". We love stocking our refrigerators with fresh vegetables and high quality meats, cooking from scratch as much as possible, and taking pride in delivering delicious food for our members. We are also excited about some recent kitchen upgrades. Thanks to our Facilities Director, Travis Kirby, and Craig Clemmer, we now have retractable heat lamps in our kitchen, making it easier to plate efficiently for large a la carte events. We are excited to continue enhancing our kitchen and serving memorable dining experiences for you in 2026! Chef Mike & Culinary Team Executive Chef

TEE IT UP

Happy 2026, Everyone! It’s hard to believe how quickly 2025 has come and gone. As so many people say, the years only seem to move faster. As we turn the page to a new year, we hope to slow things down just enough to truly enjoy another wonderful year of golf and fellowship at the Club. This past year has been an incredibly blessed one for me personally. From the moment I arrived in the fall of 2024, you welcomed me with open arms, and I cannot express how much I’ve enjoyed serving as your Director of Golf. Following in the footsteps of Reid Hill was no small task, and I’m grateful for the strong foundation he left behind. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know each of you and becoming part of such a special club. On a personal note, 2025 was made even more memorable as our family welcomed our new daughter Lucy, making it a year I will always cherish. We enjoyed an outstanding season of competition, and I’d like to congratulate our 2025 Major Champions: Men’s Member-Member Champions: Joey Lamm & Hewit Poland Ladies‘ Member-Guest Champions: Priscilla Brewer, Kelly Brewer, Lisa Matthews and Kelly Smith Junior Club Champions: Addison Lovett (Girls), Jackson King (Ages 15 & older), Liam King (Ages 13-14,) Brady Howell (Boys 10 Under) Ladies’ Club Champion: Patch Wilkinson Ladies’ Net Club Champion: Beth Rhyne Men’s Club Champion: Brandon Godwin Senior Club Champion: Zim Hagan Super Senior Club Champion: Hearn Walston Men’s Member-Guest Champions: John Rhyne & Jeff Rhyne As we head into the winter months, there will be some excellent golf days and hopefully not too many challenging ones. We will continue to communicate as needed regarding frost delays, course conditions, and any closures and of course check the daily notes on the tee sheet. Please be sure your app notifications are turned on so you stay informed of any golf-related updates. As always, let’s continue to do our part to keep the golf course in the outstanding condition it’s in by filling divots, repairing ball marks, and raking bunkers after use. Craig and his team do a tremendous job maintaining the course, and we can’t thank them enough for their hard work and dedication.

MEN’S GOLF Wishing you and your families a Happy, Healthy, and Successful Golfing 2026. Now is the time to begin planning for our 2026 golf events make sure to mark your calendars! Sincerely, Thomas Walker, PGA Director of Golf

TURF TALK

It appears winter has already hit us! I can’t recall the last time we had even a dusting of snow before Christmas in this area. It’s odd, and I hope that it isn’t a sign of the severity of the winter ahead. Since the end of October, we have been working on tree removal in a few key areas. On No. 9 tee, we took down 5 pine trees to get them back away from the tee box and rough line and, more importantly, to eliminate some more shade on that tee, especially on the back half of it. In doing this, we have exposed some nice oak trees that will feature nicely! Another area that we have concentrated on is No. 7 fairway. We have taken down quite a few trees along the right side to the right of the cart path in an effort to get some more early morning sun on the fairway. A number of these trees were close to the cart path and really served no significant purpose as far as how the hole plays, so they were removed, and the cart path, where it was impacted by roots, will be repaired soon after the first of the year. In addition, a few more were removed on the left side leading into the second half of the fairway.

All of this has been done over the last few years in an effort to grow better grass on this hole, both in the rough as well as the fairway. It has always been one of the weakest strands of grass on the entire course, and the effects from the trees removed last year have been remarkably significant. We have removed a few trees on the front right of No. 2 fairway and plan to take out a few more once the area dries up again. After the first of the year, a contractor will also remove a few trees on the right of No. 2 tee. The goal is to increase sunlight and end some root competition in both areas. While it’s been wet, we have taken care of cleaning up a few out-of-play areas as well as limbing up some trees. The team really has not stopped all fall! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and wish you a happy start to the New Year! As always, we appreciate all the kind words and support that you show us every day. Regards, Craig Clemmer Wilson Country Club Superintendent

JOHN MCCONNELL HONORED WITH INAUGURAL KORN FERRY TOUR “BEYOND THE GREEN” AWARD On December 11, John McConnell was recognized by the Korn Ferry Tour as the inaugural recipient of its new “Beyond the Green” Award during the tour’s annual tournament meetings at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The award was created to recognize an individual whose impact on the Tour extends beyond tournament operations—someone who leads with integrity, supports collaboration, and consistently elevates the experience for players, partners, and communities. We congratulate John on this well-deserved honor and are proud to see his leadership and impact recognized by the Korn Ferry Tour.

Cookies of the Month

Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Toffee Cookies Michael Monahan Executive Chef at Country Club of Asheville

Apricot, Craisin, Orange Almond Cookie John Crawford, Executive Chef at Raleigh Country Club Lynn Hart, Pastry Chef at Raleigh Country Club

“I picked this cookie because it reminds me of the kind I’d make at home on a slow Sunday afternoon—simple, a little nostalgic, and hard to stop eating. The browned butter gives it that warm, toasty flavor that fills the kitchen, and the bits of chocolate and toffee make every bite feel like a small reward.” - Michael Monahan

“This Cookie recipe was a staple item for a High Tea fundraiser event we did every year at the Oasis House Ministry in Ohio. The Ministry was able to raise over $10 Thousand dollars for women in need.” - Lynn Hart
