CLUB UPDATES

Dear Members, “If you build it, they will come.” Well, you certainly did! More than 170 members joined us for the Grand Reopening of our newly renovated restaurant and the unveiling of our new Golf Shop. What an incredible way to celebrate these new spaces. I can’t thank you enough for your support and excitement on Friday evening. More importantly, I’m excited about what these spaces will mean for our Club and for the many events, dinners, celebrations, and good times still to come. Welcome to Brookside:

As part of this new chapter, we have decided to bring the former Kenan and Sanford spaces together under a new name: Brookside. The name is a play on “burn,” the Scottish term for a brook or stream—and, of course, a nod to Treyburn itself. With the restaurant overlooking the brook along No. 18 (when it has water! ), Brookside feels like the perfect name for a space we hope becomes one of the Club’s favorite gathering places. First and foremost, I want to thank Mr. McConnell for his continued investment in Treyburn Country Club. His commitment to continually improving the members’ experience is evident throughout our Club. I also want to extend a very special thank you to Mrs. McConnell for helping orchestrate the vision, design, and details that brought our new restaurant to life. There are also many people behind the scenes who deserve recognition. Shannon and our team took advantage of the upstairs closure to roll up their sleeves and help paint the ballroom. That willingness to jump in and do whatever was needed says a lot about the team we have at Treyburn. What started as an unfortunate water issue became the catalyst for relocating and completely reimagining our Golf Shop. Ryan had the vision to see what our former administrative offices could become, and the result is a Golf Shop that is more accessible, functional, and inviting for our members and guests. We definitely made lemonade out of those lemons! What’s Next: After Labor Day, we will announce expanded hours of operation for Brookside, including plans to be open additional evenings and for more hours throughout the week. For the next few weeks, there will be limited service in the Men’s Grille due to the staffing needing to focus on the restaurant reopening and pool cabana. Once we transition to the new schedule, the Men’s Grille will remain available, with a service bell for those wishing to receive service downstairs—although I have a feeling many of you will prefer spending your time upstairs at Brookside! The former Sanford Room will also continue to be available as an additional member space. Whether you are looking for a place to dine, play cards with friends, have a meeting, or simply find a quieter place to work, we want this room to be another comfortable and versatile area for our membership. There will certainly be some continued fine-tuning as we settle into these new spaces, but I could not be more excited about this next chapter for Treyburn Country Club. Employee of the Quarter – Shannon Finally, it gives me great pleasure to recognize Shannon as our Employee of the Quarter. Shannon has been a valued member of the Treyburn Country Club family and an integral part of our Food & Beverage team for many years. Her dedication to our members, willingness to step in wherever needed, and commitment to the Club are exactly what this recognition represents. Please join me in congratulating Shannon and thanking her for everything she continues to do for Treyburn. To everyone who joined us for the Grand Reopening—and to all of our members—thank you. Your support is what gives these investments purpose. Buildings and renovations create spaces, but it is our members and employees who bring those spaces to life. I look forward to seeing you at Brookside, in the new Golf Shop, and around the Club as we begin this exciting new chapter together.

MEMBERSHIP Some of my favorite memories throughout my life have been made at Treyburn Country Club. Every time I drive into the community, I look to my right at the 16th green and am reminded of the amazing memories that have been made—and continue to be made—on that property. Treyburn will always hold a special place in my heart. Nearly 20 years ago, Treyburn Country Club was acquired by McConnell Golf. I can recall driving up with my brother, John Jr., to play the course for the first time. He had been talking up the property for quite some time, but I quickly realized that his words couldn’t do it justice. You truly have to see the place and experience it for yourself to understand what makes it so special. I just remember being amazed by every view on the course. Each hole felt so different from the last, and somehow, the experience seemed to get better with every hole I played. We would drive up many times and play the golf course for years to come. It was always an adventure. Driving up from Raleigh, you think you are close when you get off on Red Mill Rd only to realize you still had quite a ways to go before reaching the first tee. We would play until dark and get lost on the way home in Treyburn Corporate Park before GPS was common. Spending time with my brother at Treyburn was a special time with him. Not only because he was my hero but also because he could never beat me on the course. Years later, I can recall visiting Treyburn in 2012 with some friends to play golf who were in town for Thanksgiving. I finally got to meet legendary member Tom Butters who was sitting in the 19th hole. After a few minutes of conversation of him joking about my dad, a friend of mine walked in the 19th hole and asked “Hey Matt, should we go hit some golf balls?” I looked at the clock and said “No, we don’t have enough time before we tee off.” Mr. Butters then slowly looked at me and said, “Matt, let me tell you something: you have all the time in the world.”

Fast forward to today, I may not agree with that statement as much as I did back then, but I still remember how deeply those words touched my heart. Mr. Butters’ health was not great, and I found it very meaningful for him to communicate in other words to “slow down and enjoy the moment.” The reason I mention these two stories is that Treyburn has always held a special place in my heart. I could go on forever about the personal experiences I’ve shared on the golf course with my brother, the love and support I’ve received from the members, and the meaningful relationships I’ve built with employees. These are just a few of the many reasons why I love this place. In 2017, I was fortunate to become the Membership Director for Treyburn Country Club. It has been amazing to see the incredible changes, improvements and investments the team has made to the club over the years. One of the most exciting recent developments has been the promotion of Kristen Burgess as your new Membership Director at Treyburn Country Club. I know she will do an incredible job and look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in this role. While I will continue my career with McConnell Golf, I wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for all of your support, friendship, and encouragement throughout these past 9 wonderful years as your Membership Director at Treyburn Country Club. I love this place very much, so please let me know if anything comes to mind on how we can help you or the community. Remember to take Mr. Butters' advice every time you visit the club: slow down and enjoy the moment!

MEMBERSHIP Dear Treyburn Members, I first want to say how incredibly grateful I am for the warm welcome I’ve received since stepping into my new role as Treyburn Country Club’s Membership & Communications Director. When I began my journey with McConnell Golf last spring, I had no idea just how much fulfillment I would find in this job. Over the past year, one of my favorite parts of coming to work each day has been getting to know our members. I genuinely love interacting with you all, hearing your stories and learning more about what makes this membership so unique. Of course, I may be a little biased at this point, but I think we have something pretty special here at Treyburn. in many ways, assuming this role feels almost kismet. I have always loved working with people and creating memorable experiences, and Treyburn is a place I’ve become genuinely passionate about. I’m excited to channel that passion into this next chapter. Many of you are also well aware of my enthusiasm for communications and graphic design, and I look forward to continuing to find creative ways to elevate the member experience. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about consistency and personality — and how the two can complement each other. From a TCC perspective, we want to be reliable and consistent communicators while never losing that special ’Burn personality and flair that makes this club what it is. Finding that balance and continuing to develop it is something I’m particularly excited to take on in this role. Thank you for all of the kind messages, conversations, and words of encouragement you’ve shared with me recently. It means more than you know to have so many members express their confidence in me and their excitement for what’s ahead. My goal is to continue elevating the membership experience at Treyburn while protecting what already makes this club — and McConnell Golf — so special. Growth doesn’t have to mean losing the things that brought people here in the first place. When you come to Treyburn, I truly want it to feel like an escape. We so often hear comments like, “How is this in Durham, North Carolina?” or, “Are you sure we’re not technically in the mountains?” I love that reaction. There’s a feeling you get when you turn onto Old Trail Drive, and preserving and enhancing that experience is at the heart of what I hope to accomplish. TREYBURN GOLF NEWS Dear Members, Cooler fall weather is right around the corner, which should bring some much-needed relief following an extremely hot summer. The golf course is in excellent condition following our August aerification. Mark Snell and his team have done a fantastic job maintaining the health of the course through the intense summer heat and drought earlier this year. Their efforts have resulted in some of the best fairway and rough conditions we have seen for this time of year. With aerification complete, the maintenance team has now begun several sod projects on Hole 13 and in a few other stressed areas around the course. Our fall golf calendar is packed with exciting events for all skill levels. The Men’s “Las Vegas” Member-Guest will take place October 1–3. Interest in this event continues to grow—we had an incredible 93 teams register for just 60 available spots! We also have a great lineup of events coming up in September and October, including: TLGA Cup TMGA 9-Hole / 9-Point Tournament TMGA Treyburn Cup The Gallagher Treyburn Memorial Senior Men’s, Ladies,’ and Junior Club Championships Couples Golf These are just a few of the highlights, so be sure to register through the Treyburn Main Calendar to secure your spot! The Treyburn Golf Shop’s transition to the front of the clubhouse has been a success. The new location, directly off the Veranda with convenient access to the bag drop, has created additional opportunities for us to improve the member experience from the moment you arrive. We also hope you’ll stick around after your round and join us at the new Brookside Bar! A quick reminder: the Handicap Committee and I need your help! We are asking everyone to begin posting hole-by-hole scores in the GHIN app for each round you play. We understand this takes a few extra minutes at the end of your round, but the payoff will be more accurate hole handicaps that reflect the true difficulty of each hole based on the play of our own membership. We plan to use this data to evaluate and adjust our hole handicaps early next year. Posting hole-by-hole scores also provides you with additional performance data, allowing you to see how you typically perform on each hole. For those who want even more insight, the GHIN app allows you to track statistics such as fairways hit, greens in regulation, and number of putts—all of which can be useful in identifying areas to improve your game. I would also like to take a moment to welcome all of our new members to the club! If you are looking for information on our different member groups or would like to get paired with others on the tee sheet, please don’t hesitate to reach out. MCCONNELL GOLF COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF THE CROSSINGS GOLF CLUB, EXPANDS V.A. FOOTPRINT McConnell Golf has completed its acquisition of The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen, Virginia, just outside Richmond in Henrico County, and will invest approximately $10 million to restore and modernize one of the region’s best-known public golf courses. The redevelopment will preserve the character of Joe Lee’s original design while restoring The Crossings as a premier public golf destination. Working with the Henrico Sports & Entertainment and Economic Development Authorities, McConnell Golf also shares a long-term vision of positioning The Crossings to host professional tour events and amateur tournaments, including collegiate and high school events. SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB SECURES PLACE IN PGA TOUR’S NEW CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES One of the PGA TOUR’s longest-running relationships will continue into a new era as Sedgefield Country Club remains home to Greensboro’s PGA TOUR event. Beginning in 2028, the tournament will become part of the new PGA TOUR Championship Series, with Raymond James serving as title sponsor. The event will be contested as a full-field PGA TOUR event in 2027 before transitioning to the Championship Series. Founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, the tournament has been won by legends including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, with Sedgefield hosting the event more than 40 times. After a 31-year absence, the PGA TOUR returned to Sedgefield in 2008 following the restoration of its Donald Rossdesigned course, and McConnell Golf acquired the club in 2011. The announcement ensures Sedgefield will remain on one of golf’s biggest stages as the PGA TOUR enters its next era. In 2028, the Greensboro event will celebrate its 90th anniversary, bringing its remarkable history full circle.

Michael Brennan arrived at Sedgefield with his PGA TOUR season hanging in the balance and left as Wyndham Championship winner. The former Wake Forest standout closed with a 6-under 64 to win by three shots at 22-under 258, tying the tournament scoring record.
