TAMMY LOHREN, PGA Director of Instruction, The Reserve Golf Club tlohren@thereservegolf.com Dr. Tammy Lohren, daughter of award-winning Master PGA Teaching Professional Carl Lohren, learned the game at an early age and has spent more than 30 years teaching golfers of all skill levels. A past champion of the Connecticut Women’s Open, runner-up at the PGA National Women’s Championship, and inductee into the Longwood University Hall of Fame, she brings both competitive experience and academic expertise to her instruction. Dr. Lohren holds a Doctorate in Education and a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and was honored with the 2021 Tennessee PGA Youth Player Development Award. Guided by a “keep it simple” philosophy, she creates a fun, relaxed learning environment for every student.

JUNIOR GOLF SUMMER CAMP The Reserve hosted three Junior Golf Camps this summer. Tammy Lohren, PGA, provided 12 hours of small group instruction on the aspects of golf: rules, etiquette, putting, short- and long-games. The children had a great time playing instructional games, working as a team, and of course snack time. We look forward to seeing them on the course throughout the year and back at Junior Camp next summer!

PGA HOPE AT THE RESERVE PGA HOPE Carolinas (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is an adaptive golf program offered by PGA Professionals as a rehabilitation tool to improve our Veterans’ quality of life by enhancing their mental, social, physical, and emotional well-being. There is NO COST to our Veterans. PGA HOPE serves Veterans at 28 locations in North and South Carolina with an emphasis on helping those with physical and emotional disabilities. Justin Morris, PGA, and Tammy Lohren, PGA, have both been involved with the PGA HOPE program in the Carolinas and Tennessee, respectively. Through their hard work, they have been able to start a program here at The Reserve. Each session serves approximately 12 Veterans. Participants of all skill levels receive six weeks of golf instruction from PGA Professionals, get oncourse practice, and establish friendships with other local Veterans. The PGA HOPE program is in such high demand that we have participants driving up to two hours to come each week! A big thank you to all of our members who participated on our Squares for Scotty raffle. This helped us raise money to fund our PGA HOPE program. One of our Veterans drew the lucky winner, Bob Gordon. Bob (pictured top right) gets to customize his own Scotty Cameron putter. We expect 2 putts or less from Bob once he receives his prize! PGA HOPE/The Reserve t-shirts are coming soon...

FOOTPRINT McConnell Golf has completed its acquisition of The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen, Virginia, just outside Richmond in Henrico County, and will invest approximately $10 million to restore and modernize one of the region’s best-known public golf courses. The redevelopment will preserve the character of Joe Lee’s original design while restoring The Crossings as a premier public golf destination. Working with the Henrico Sports & Entertainment and Economic Development Authorities, McConnell Golf also shares a long-term vision of positioning The Crossings to host professional tour events and amateur tournaments, including collegiate and high school events. SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB SECURES PLACE IN PGA TOUR’S NEW CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES One of the PGA TOUR’s longest-running relationships will continue into a new era as Sedgefield Country Club remains home to Greensboro’s PGA TOUR event. Beginning in 2028, the tournament will become part of the new PGA TOUR Championship Series, with Raymond James serving as title sponsor. The event will be contested as a full-field PGA TOUR event in 2027 before transitioning to the Championship Series. Founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, the tournament has been won by legends including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, with Sedgefield hosting the event more than 40 times. After a 31-year absence, the PGA TOUR returned to Sedgefield in 2008 following the restoration of its Donald Rossdesigned course, and McConnell Golf acquired the club in 2011. The announcement ensures Sedgefield will remain on one of golf’s biggest stages as the PGA TOUR enters its next era. In 2028, the Greensboro event will celebrate its 90th anniversary, bringing its remarkable history full circle.

Michael Brennan arrived at Sedgefield with his PGA TOUR season hanging in the balance and left as Wyndham Championship winner. The former Wake Forest standout closed with a 6-under 64 to win by three shots at 22-under 258, tying the tournament scoring record. The victory earned Brennan a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs and marked the second PGA TOUR win of his career. Read the 2026 Wyndham Championship recap at ClubConnection.blog.
