MCCONNELL GOLF TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS CROWNS THE COMPANY’S BEST OF THE BEST

In March, Old North State Club played host to the second annual McConnell Golf Tournament of Champions with 15 clubs being represented. Congratulations to Raleigh Country Club as they defended their team title, shooting -12 under par. In the individual divisions, Ryan Tyndall (The Reserve Golf Club) won the Men's Club Championship, Caroline Ellington (Raleigh Country Club) won the Women's Club Championship, Hunter Grove (Raleigh Country Club) won the Senior/Super Senior Championship and Dalton Rich (Brook Valley Country Club) won the Professional Championship Thank you to the staff and membership at Old North State Club for their hospitality

TEAM MUSGROVE MILL CAPTURES THE SCGA’S TRESCOTT CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to Musgrove Mill Golf Club members Walt Todd Jr , Grainger Howle, Robert Lutomski along with golf professional Theo Davis on capturing the 42nd Trescott Championship! Finishing at 1-over (214), the team claimed the title in a sudden-death playoff on the first extra hole at Solina Golf Club

The Trescott Championship, named after the former long-time SCGA Secretary George C. Trescott, is a unique Club Championship where three amateur members from a club combine their aggregate score from each hole to compete for the Trescott Cup. During the course of play, a Pro-Am is also conducted with the three amateurs and their Club Professional using the best two gross balls per hole

MCCONNELL GOLF COURSES EARN STRONG GAINS IN 2026 N.C. GOLF PANEL RANKINGS

McConnell Golf once again placed all of its North Carolina private clubs among the state’s Top 100 courses, highlighted by four clubs earning Top 25 rankings in the North Carolina Golf Panel’s 30th annual statewide rankings, published in the April issue of Business North Carolina magazine

Leading the portfolio is Greensboro’s Sedgefield Country Club, home of the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship, ranked No 7 in North Carolina Old North State Club in New London followed at No 11, while Raleigh Country Club climbed to No 15 Durham’s Treyburn Country Club made one of the year’s biggest moves, jumping four spots into the Top 25 at No 25 In total, 11 McConnell Golf courses earned Top 100 recognition statewide, marking a strong year of upward momentum across the company’s North Carolina portfolio

Several Triangle-area clubs posted notable improvements. The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh made a significant leap, rising to No. 75 from No. 94 last year. Treyburn’s move into the Top 25 further strengthened the region’s standing among the state’s premier courses. Eastern North Carolina also saw major gains, as Wilson Country Club surged into the Top 100 at No. 84 after being unranked last year one of the largest upward moves in this year’s rankings

Other McConnell Golf properties earning Top 100 honors include:

Country Club of Asheville, ranked No 52, up two spots year-over-year

The Cardinal by Pete Dye in Greensboro, ranked No 54, continuing its steady upward trend

Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, improving to No 57

Providence Country Club in Charlotte, ranked No. 85.

Brook Valley Country Club in Greenville, rounding out the list at No. 100.

McConnell Golf remains the only individual golf course owner in the world to steward four Donald Ross-designed courses, including Sedgefield Country Club and Raleigh Country Club, both of which continue to rank among North Carolina’s elite layouts The 2026 North Carolina Golf Panel rankings, based on playability, design, conditioning and experience, highlight another strong year driven by continued investment in courses, facilities and member experience

TEETIME ETIQUETTE

Tee time etiquette is just as important as golf course etiquette and there is more to managing your tee time than just booking that time With our course being so busy, it is important that the member making the tee time reservation take ownership of that time. Here are a few things that can be done to make sure your tee time is well managed:

Book tee times when you plan to actually use them, not as an option to play.

Only use names of members that are actually planning to play. It is understandable that names may change between when the reservation is made and when actual play takes place However, correct names should be designated for all tee times no later than 48 hours prior to scheduled play If you don't know who will play, do you need the tee time?

Manage the time! If players change or drop off, make those changes accordingly. If you have only 3 players, make sure there are only 3 names on your time This will allow other members to possibly find a game.

Make sure all of your players are aware of the correct time. On day of play, all players must check into the pro shop at least 10 minutes prior to start of play

Cancellation of tee time reservations should be made as soon as it is known the time is not needed

Guidelines & Procedures

All players must have a starting time reserved through the PNCC Pro Shop or the PNCC on-line reservation system

Members may reserve tee times up to 7 days in advance for Tuesday – Friday and on Wednesday prior for Saturday and Sunday primarily via the online tee time reservation system. It is also possible to reserve tee times by phone or in person at the Pro Shop

Failure to check in and register with the Pro Shop at least 10 minutes prior to a reserved starting time may face cancellation or set back.

Players who fail to cancel their reserved starting time at least 1 hour prior to the reserved time may be charged a "no show" fee in an amount to be determined by the Club

If you experience problems with the On-Line Tee Time Reservation System, please record as much information as possible about the problems you experienced and forward them to the PNCC Head Golf PRofessional
