MeetMaddie!

Hi everyone! My name is Maddie Scheliga, and I’m so excited to be spending the summer at Porters Neck Sports Center completing my internship while finishing my degree in Exercise Physiology at East Carolina University… Go Pirates! I’m originally from Wilmington, so it’s great to be back home for the summer and part of the Porters Neck community.

This summer, I’ll be shadowing training sessions, taking in group fitness classes, assisting with fitness assessments and wellness programming, and eventually joining the schedule teaching Pilates. For the month of June, I’ll be teaching the Pilates class on Fridays at 8:30! As part of my internship, I’ll also be developing a special wellnessfocused project and program for the Sports Center centered around exercise, health promotion, and improving overall quality of life I’ll be looking for member participation and feedback throughout the summer, so stay tuned; I’m excited to bring something engaging and beneficial to the community!

Outside of the gym, you can find me on the boat around Wrightsville Beach, traveling, shopping around town, or spending time with friends, family, and my chocolate lab, Bridget, who I’m completely obsessed with and will probably talk about all summer long!

If you see me around the Sports Center, please say hi! I’m so excited to be here and look forward to meeting everyone this summer!
