I hope you all are enjoying your summer and trust you’ve had the chance to enjoy all that our Club has to offer It’s been a lot of fun continuing to make changes and improve upon our facility The new sun shade at the pool offers a nice respite from the sun during the hot/humid dog days of summer, a new pergola also provides an additional area for parties or extra shade for those looking to cool down, the updated restrooms turned out nice as well We’ll continue to make improvements to the pool and West Pavilion over the next year or so As always, suggestions are welcomed in an effort to enhance your experience at thisoutlet.

It’s hard to believe we are halfway through 2026 Before you know it, kids will be back at school, cooler weather will move in, days will get shorter, and leaves will begin to change color. Until then, celebrate the 4 of July and all the freedoms our great country provides us. The 250 celebration of our great nation will be a sight to behold here at Providence. We’ll host the fireworks show on July 3, don’t miss out on this incredibledisplayofRed,White,andBOOM!!!Ourteamwillmakesurefunishadbyallwhoattend

Kudos to the entire team for an epic Crown Cup The drone show was a great addition to the party and one we will certainly do again We did have this scheduled for the Summer Kick-Off party that was rained out, but will most definitely look to do a drone show that all our membership canenjoyinthenearfuture!

GOLF COURSE UPDATE

What a rollercoaster ride it has been through the first six months of the year Some really cold temperatures this winter with sleet, snow, and ice Then, the rain stopped, and the heat rolled in early with spring After that, the heat backed off, and it rained in May more than the first four months combined. Not to mention the major fluctuations in humidity and evapotranspiration rates Our biggest challenge was spending more time managing our irrigation cycles and water supply than we usually do All in all, the golf course has handled the rollercoaster ride very well Fertility inputs, chemical applications, small agronomic adjustments, and rain showers have all been very timely to keep thingsingoodconditionthroughthefirsthalfoftheyear

With the dog days of summer comes the heat, humidity, and thriving bermudagrass Our plan over the next few months is to use these ideal growing conditions to our advantage and continue to sod out some of the lingering bare spots and eyesores out there Please be mindful of these areas and the rope and stakes, and do not drive through any new sod. With the increased rounds of golf over the past few years, we have seen the effects of increased wear and tear on the golf course A simple way we can all help the cause is to avoid using the same traffic patterns as we go about traveling the course on a daily basis Please scatter your golf cart travel and push cart travel by avoiding the use of the same travel paths as everyone else (path of least resistance) Lastly, keeping all four golf cart tires on the cart path while parking at tees and greens makesahugedifferenceaswell.

As part of Sedgefield Country Club’s 100th anniversary celebration, the Sedgefield Centennial video series looks back on the milestones, stories, and people that have shaped the club into one of North Carolina’s most historic golf venues

The series continues with its second installment, an exclusive interview featuring retired ACC Commissioner and Sedgefield member John Swofford. In the conversation, Swofford reflects on the ACC’s founding at the Sedgefield Inn and the enduring connection between the conference and the club

The third installment turns to one of Sedgefield’s most remarkable chapters when the club’s own head golf professional, Tony Manero, stunned the golf world by capturing the 1936 U S Open title on one of the sport’s biggest stages

FORMER MCCONNELL GOLF SCHOLAR

CALEB SURRATT EARNS SPOT IN FIRST U.S. OPEN Former McConnell Golf scholar Caleb Surratt will make his major championship debut at the 2026 U S Open at Shinnecock Hills Surratt secured his spot in golf’s national championship through final qualifying at Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Texas, where he posted rounds of 70 and 69 before prevailing in a six-man playoff for the final berth He birdied the first playoff hole to punch his ticket to one of the game’s biggest stages

Many McConnell Golf members have followed Surratt’s journey for years. A standout junior golfer from Charlotte with ties to Providence Country Club, he went on to star at the University of Tennessee, earning first-team All-America honors and winning the SEC individual championship He turned professional in 2024 and now competes for Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team on LIV Golf

Surratt’s U S Open appearance marks another milestone in a career filled with accomplishments, but for those who watched him develop as a young player through the McConnell Golf scholarship program, it is especially rewarding to see him competing alongside the best players in the world. Small Group Tennis for All Ages and Levels

The 2026 Tennis Summer Camp will be a fun-filled, instructional tennis camp designed to help players improve their skills while having a great time. Each day will begin with group warm-ups followed by engaging tennis instructional classes focused on developing technique, strategy, and confidence on the court. Full-day attendees will enjoy lunch and swimming at the pool as a refreshing midday break. To wrap up the day, from 2–3 p.m., campers will participate in match play, giving them the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a fun and supportive environment. We are excited to have an awesome summer with all the campers!

PCC ACTIVITY CAMPS

The PCC Playhouse offers nine fun-filled weeks of exciting activities for children ages 4-10. All campers must be potty-trained and bathroom independent. Snacks, lunch & camp t-shirt are included. Registration deadline is two weeks prior to the start of each camp. To allow maximum availability, after May 10th, any changes in your registration will incur an admin fee of $10 per child, per change. Registration opens in late January. PCC TWEEN CAMP

Tween Camp is built just for campers ages 10–12 a place where tweens can explore, create, and connect in an environment made for their growing independence and interests. Offered all nine weeks, this camp runs on its own exciting track, giving campers a unique experience that doesn’t follow the weekly themes.

DIRECTIONS:

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat Continue to heat, while occasionally stirring, until the butter has brown specks throughout. Careful not to burn the butter. Remove from heat and transfer to a large bowl. Set aside to cool, but not thicken. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt. Once the butter is at room temperature, whisk in the eggs, both sugars, and vanilla extract.
