We’ll have a full schedule of entertainment, along with some new events including our “Easter Keg Hunt” and services like “Egg your house” next to some of our popular staples, like the Summer Concert Series, the return of Magic with Bryan Saint, featuring a brand-new show, and Comedy at the Club in July with Tyrone Burston, who previously warmed up the crowd for Dale Jones at our January show
Finally, a sincere thank you to all the members who attended the Valentine’s Wine Dinner It was a wonderful evening filled with Old North State camaraderie, exceptional cuisine, and fantastic wines
I look forward to seeing everyone around the Club in the year ahead

In my role, my goal is to keep you informed, connected, and engaged with everything happening at the Club from upcoming events and dining experiences to important operational updates and member news Clear, timely, and thoughtful communication is a priority, and I look forward to sharing information in a way that is both helpful and enjoyable to read
As I continue to grow in this position, I welcome your feedback, questions, and ideas Your input plays an important role in shaping how we communicate and how we highlight the experiences that matter most to our members
I’m excited to continue building relationships within the Club and keep you connected with all of the new and exciting things taking place at Old North State.

Hello everyone,
Spring is right around the corner, and with it comes an exciting return of fresh, local ingredients This time of year is always incredibly inspiring for me as a chef. Seeing the beautiful heirloom tomatoes begin to arrive, along with the vibrant colors and flavors of spring vegetables, really sparks creativity and reminds me why I love to cook
As we move into the new season, we will be rolling out updated menus in April These menus will place a strong emphasis on local quality and seasonal ingredients We are fortunate to be surrounded by so many outstanding local farms, and we are committed to building strong relationships with them to ensure the highest quality food while also knowing exactly where our ingredients come from
Our goal is for every dish served at ONSC to tell a story about the farmers who grow the food, the season it comes from, and the care that goes into preparing it We believe this connection to our ingredients will enhance not only the flavors on the plate but the overall dining experience for our members.
These are truly exciting times in the kitchen, and I can’t wait to share what we have been working on with all of you this spring.
Thank you for your continued support

Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley Blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon • 20% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc • 10% Petit Verdot
2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Sedgefield Country Club and its historic Donald Ross–designed golf course in Greensboro, North Carolina This video highlights the club’s early history, from its founding in 1926 to its lasting influence on professional golf and regional sports Sedgefield hosted early editions of the Greater Greensboro Open now the Wyndham Championship featuring legends such as Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, and Byron Nelson, and is the birthplace of the Atlantic Coast Conference Today, under McConnell Golf, Sedgefield continues to honor its past while building for the future. To watch, visit YouTube.com/McConnellGolf and subscribe to the channel for more content from our portfolio of properties.

With work on the Black 9 now complete, the renovation project at Cobblestone Golf Club has shifted to the Garnet 9 All bunkers will be rebuilt with Capillary Concrete liners and new sand, accompanied by subtle shaping to improve drainage and minimize washouts. The project also includes the installation of new concrete cart paths, selective rerouting for improved playability, and tree removal as needed to protect the new infrastructure.
The 2019 Perry’s Blend is a beautifully crafted Bordeaux-style Napa Valley red from Juslyn Vineyards, showcasing the intensity that defines the Spring Mountain District Juslyn Vineyards was founded by Perry and Carolyn Butler in 1997 after they left the tech world to pursue their passion for winemaking Their vineyard sits high above Napa Valley, where cooler mountain temperatures help create wines with great depth and character They focus on small-lot production and hands-on care, apparent in every bottle.
Bright red cherry and black currant lead the way, layered with hints of spice and subtle oak. Silky, polished tannins give the wine a graceful structure, while its supple texture and balanced acidity carry through to a long, lingering finish The result is a wine that is both powerful and refined equally suited for savoring now or pairing with a memorable meal. To reserve, please contact your club’s food & beverage director

I love this time of year The days are getting longer, the sun is growing stronger, and the birds are preparing nests for their spring hatchlings. Here at the Club, we are also preparing our TifEagle greens to transition from winter dormancy into active growth during March and April.
While exact dates are difficult to predict, as weather ultimately dictates both timing and pace, our approach will adjust as conditions allow As daylight increases and temperatures rise consistently, we will begin fertilizing and applying light sand topdressing to encourage new growth and promote a smooth, consistent putting surface
Once we are confident that colder nights (below 25 degrees) are behind us, we will increase fertility levels and the amount of sand topdressing. After consistent growth is established, we will utilize small solid tines to improve water and nutrient movement and encourage healthy root development throughout the soil profile. This solid tining process will not disrupt ball roll but will prepare the greens for vertical mowing as lateral growth increases later in the season
We look forward to seeing you out on the course as spring approaches

“What Can Disney Teach Us About Tennis?”
Being a dad of an 8 and 5-year old, I often watch movies from my childhood with my kiddos This tip comes from Disney’s “Lion King” as Scar, while the villain in the movie, makes a salient point when singing to his army of dastardly hyenas: “BE PREPARED!”
Early preparation for all shots helps you stay on balance and stay in the proper swing plane
Some examples:
Serve:
Have a pre-serve routine Do the same thing before every serve to help create consistency and alleviate any additional stress
Ground Strokes:
Open up your shoulders and get into your backswing as you are moving to the ball Don’t wait until you get to the ball to start your swing You’re already too late and can create unforced errors from rushing.
Volleys:
Split step as your opponent is about to hit the ball and have your racket up and in ready position to make quick adjustments. An old basketball saying when teaching defense against a shooter says “hands down = man down” this is the same in tennis
Overheads:
As soon as you see the ball go high enough for an overhead, turn your body, point to the ball with your non-racket hand, and get your racket back into “back scratch” position.
Next time on the court, you’ll have Scar in the back of your mind telling you to “BE PREPARED!”

“Practice Makes PERMANENT“
Proper “drilling” is imperative to greater consistency and control of the points “Practice Makes Permanent”, so practicing proper footwork, proper paddle positioning, proper paddle movement and proper body/court positioning should be included in your weekly pickleball court time You and a partner can have lots of fun and improve skill levels in some fun and competitive drills!
For the amateur player, drilling should not and does not have to be boring or exhaustive. However, a steady diet of short effective drills featuring different skills/shots specifically designed for your skill set needs will increase the execution and confidence to use them more During a drill session, setting a goal for both partners to achieve OR competing with a partner using a specific skill can be a fun way to create new habits for the court Too often a new skill or technique is discovered, but rarely or never used in the games played with friends later Another downfall is that sometimes drilling is done using improper mechanics, therefore supporting the less effective technique you’re trying to change Drilling will make using the new skill more comfortable to try in the middle of competition. With time, the new skill/technique can be the new normal
Challenge yourself to improve in one specific area that frustrates you the most in your games Pick a good/reliable partner to drill with regularly OR set up a singles or doubles, drilling session with me for several weeks Discounted rates for multiple session packages are available.

“Why Nutrition Matters More as We Age”

As we age, nutrition stops being just about calories and s ut cellular resilience, muscle preservation, metabolic stability, and long-term vitality. The foods we choose either support these processes or quietly accelerate decline
One of the most critical shifts with aging is the body’s reduced ability to build and maintain muscle This makes adequate protein non-negotiable Protein supports muscle mass, bone strength, immune function, and metabolic health, helping prevent sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss), weakness, and insulin resistance. Prioritizing high-quality protein at each meal supports strength, balance, and independence as we age
Healthy fats are equally essential. Fats from sources like olive oil, avocado, grass-fed meats, wild-caught fish, and pasture-raised eggs support brain health, hormone production, joint lubrication, and cellular repair. These fats provide stable energy and reduce inflammation key factors in protecting the brain and cardiovascular system over time
Vegetables play a foundational role by supplying fiber, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients that support digestion, detoxification, and immune defense A wide variety of colorful vegetables helps regulate blood sugar, nourish the gut microbiome, and reduce oxidative stress one of the primary drivers of aging
Just as important as what we include is what we remove. Seed oils, ultraprocessed foods, and refined grains contribute to chronic inflammation, blood sugar instability, and mitochondrial stress. These foods are often stripped of nutrients, chemically altered, and highly inflammatory placing an unnecessary burden on aging systems already working harder to maintain balance.
A nutrient-dense diet centered on protein, healthy fats, and vegetables isn’t a restriction it’s a return to what the body recognizes and thrives on As we age, this way of eating becomes one of the most powerful tools we have to protect strength, cognition, energy, and quality of life
Nutrition isn’t about perfection. It’s about giving the body the raw materials it needs to age with strength instead of struggle
