MEMBERSHIP UPDATES Moving from Summer to Fall... Don’t blink! It certainly feels like this summer has flown by, and now it’s back-to-school, with fall right around the corner. Honestly, it feels like we haven’t slowed down since the Korn Ferry Tour – Visit Knoxville Open was here in May. The summer heat has definitely been brutal these past couple of months! The pop-up rainstorms have at least been great for the golf course. I can’t remember the last time our course was this green at the end of August! Although they haven’t been quite as welcome at the pool.

July and August brought the heat—and a lot of FUN, great times, and wonderful memories! From our 4th of July Pool Party and Summer Camps to Club Championships, live music, the LGA Member-Member Tournament, poolside fun, and plenty of pickleball, it’s been a busy and exciting summer at HHCC! It’s been wonderful seeing so many members and families enjoying the club and making memories together! On the membership side, July and August have been just as exciting (and busy!). Between tours, Preview Play Days, applications, phone calls, and countless emails, the days and weeks have flown by. During those two months, we were thrilled to welcome 20 new families and two transfers from other McConnell Golf properties to the Holston Hills Country Club and McConnell Golf family. What makes that even more meaningful is that 13 of those new families joined because of a member referral. That speaks volumes about the pride you have in your club and your willingness to share it with friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. There is no greater compliment than a member recommending Holston Hills to someone they know. Thank you for continuing to be our greatest ambassadors!

MEMBERSHIP NOTES: Stay in the Know: Be sure to watch for emails—especially the HHCC Weekly Happenings on Tuesday afternoons—and check the event calendar on our website. We have a lot of exciting events planned over the upcoming month, and we don’t want you and your family to miss out! A NOTE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER Dear HHCC Members, As summer begins to wind down, it is always a little bittersweet to say goodbye to long pool days and summer evenings, but here in East Tennessee, fall gives us plenty to look forward to! Cooler days on the golf course, crisp evenings on the patio, beautiful fall colors across Holston Hills, and, of course, Tennessee football are right around the corner.

CELEBRATING MS. CHARLENE!

September and October will be busy months around the Club, with plenty of golf, tennis, pickleball, tournaments, and events for our members and families to enjoy. October brings two exciting fall traditions: our Fall Festival, where we can’t wait to see the kids in their costumes, and something new to Holston Hills—Oktoberfest at HHCC! We’re looking forward to bringing everyone together for great food, drinks, music, and plenty of Club spirit. One of my favorite things about Holston Hills is seeing the Club full of activity and our members enjoying it in so many different ways. Whether you’re joining us for a round of golf, relaxing on the patio, competing on the courts, attending an event, or stopping by for dinner, I hope you’ll make HHCC part of your fall plans! McConnell Golf Road Trip Played Old North State, Treyburn, & The Cardinal Celebrating my mom Dixie Miller’s 70th birthday!

This year, we are incredibly proud to celebrate Charlene Parton’s 30th anniversary at Holston Hills Country Club! Since joining the Club in 1996, Charlene has become much more than a familiar face. She is part of the fabric of Holston Hills. For years, Charlene and Willie Andrews served breakfast every Saturday and Sunday morning in the old Jim Bean Station, welcoming generations of golfers and families with a smile. Many longtime members still remember those weekend mornings,

IMPORTANT Important September & October Hours Update! We’re making a few changes to our Club operating hours for September and October and wanted to give everyone a heads-up! After reviewing our upcoming fall schedule with the Management Team— and taking a look at the University of Tennessee football schedule—we noticed that the majority of Saturday games in September are home games, with only two away games in October. With that in mind, we’re adjusting our hours over the next two months to better accommodate our members and their fall football plans.

And there’s more to look forward to on Sundays! Starting in September, we’re excited to offer our Sunday Brunch Menu every Sunday from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM. After 2:00 PM, our All-Day Menu will be available until close. We’ll give these updated hours a try throughout September and October and see how they work for our membership. Thank you for your flexibility, and we hope these changes make it even easier to enjoy time at the Club this fall!

and there were even children who lovingly referred to breakfast at the Bean Station as going to “Miss Charlene’s house.” Over the years, Charlene has served HHCC in several roles, including Line Cook in the Bean Station, Server, and Turn Shack Attendant. Today, we are fortunate to still have her in the Turn Shack two or three days a week, greeting members and guests with the same warm smile, contagious laugh, and welcoming spirit she has shared for three decades. Charlene is a Knoxville native, a graduate of Austin High School, a proud mother of two sons, Franklin and Demetrice, and a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren. Outside of work, she is an active member of Peace & Goodwill Church and loves to cook, often bringing treats to share with the team. Her famous Chicken & Dressing Casserole has certainly earned a following of its own! For 30 years, Charlene has helped create the memories, traditions, and sense of family that make Holston Hills so special. Please join us in congratulating Ms. Charlene Parton on 30 wonderful years at Holston Hills Country Club! We are so grateful for all she has done and even more grateful that she is still here, making our days a little brighter.

CHEF CORNER Dear HH Members, As we move through the heart of late summer here at Holston Hills, I am proud to welcome you to another busy and beautiful season at the Club. The golf course is in peak condition, the pool remains a favorite gathering spot—at least on the weekends—and our dining rooms continue to hum with energy from both everyday lunches and special events. This is one of my favorite times of year in the kitchen. Local produce is at its absolute best—Tennessee tomatoes, sweet corn, peaches, and herbs from our region are showing up on the menu in new and familiar ways. We have been working closely with local growers and suppliers to bring the freshest ingredients possible to your table. A new menu featuring that peak-season local produce will roll out very soon, along with several exciting new offerings. At the beginning of August, we introduced hot house-made biscuit sandwiches at the Turn Shack—an easy, satisfying addition that has already been well received. We are always looking for ways to add more value for our members, and as we head into fall, you can expect continued updates that keep the dining experience fresh, convenient, and rooted in great ingredients. I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received from both our members and the staff. It has meant a great deal, and I look forward to meeting more members individually in the coming weeks. I also want to thank the entire Food & Beverage team for the energy and care they bring every day—their commitment to consistency and hospitality is what makes Holston Hills special. If you have a favorite dish, a suggestion, or simply want to say hello, please stop by the kitchen or reach out. This edition’s recipe is my Homemade Pimento Cheese. You’ll see it featured in a new dish on the menu very soon, and it’s the kind of recipe worth keeping at home too—perfect for crackers, sandwiches, or a simple snack. It comes together quickly and tastes far better than anything from a jar. I look forward to seeing you around the Club and sharing more great food and experiences in the months ahead. HOMEMADE PIMENTO CHEESE A classic Southern pimento cheese made the right way—sharp cheddar, Duke’s mayonnaise, and just enough kick. You’ll find this version featured in a new dish on our menu very soon. At home it’s perfect on crackers, celery, tomato sandwiches, or simply by the spoonful. Ingredients: 1 lb (16 oz) sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated 8 oz cream cheese, softened ¾ cup Duke’s mayonnaise 1 (4 oz) jar diced pimentos, well-drained 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp garlic powder ½ tsp onion powder ¼–½ tsp cayenne pepper (to taste) Freshly ground black pepper

Method: In a large bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and Duke’s mayonnaise until smooth. Add the grated sharp cheddar, drained pimentos, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, and black pepper. Fold everything together until evenly combined. Taste and adjust the heat if desired. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour (better after several hours or overnight) so the flavors meld and the texture firms up. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 1 week. Stir before serving.

TEE IT UP Congratulations to all of our members who competed in the 2026 HHCC Club Championship last weekend in July! We’re proud of everyone who took to the course and made it a great championship weekend. Our Men’s Championship Flight came down to the final hole. With a birdie putt that could have sent our top two players into a playoff, there was plenty of excitement right up to the end. The putt went just a little left, and with that, a new Men’s Club Champion was crowned! Congratulations to Kory Webb! And congratulations to our other flight champions: Blue Tee Club Champion, Jacob Reel, and White/WhiteYellow Tee Club Champion, Bob Brunetti! For our Women’s Club Championship, Melissa Walsh won her 13th consecutive Club Championship! What an amazing run she has had! It was a fantastic finish to a great weekend of golf.

FORMAT: Three 9-Hole ROUNDS: Round 1: Holes 1-9: Net Fourball (Best Ball)- 90% of handicap divided by 2 for nine holes. Round 2: Holes 10-18: Scramble- 15% of the A plus 35% of the B, divided by 2 for nine holes. Round 3: Holes 19-27: Modified Alternate Shot- 40% of the combined handicap divided by 2 for nine holes. FLIGHTS: Teams will be flighted by combined low 12-month handicap index. The lowest 12-month index will break ties on the team.

As a bonus of being a member of the LGA, the HH PGA pros have provided the LGA with group clinics, including lag putting, short game, course management, and the mental game of golf. Whether you're looking to enjoy friendly competition, improve your game, or simply connect with fellow members, we invite you to join this fun, welcoming group. HH LGA Hosts the KAWGA Play Day TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 We are excited to welcome the KAWGA Play Day on the last Tuesday in September. Last year we hosted 90 players, all members of the Knox Area Women’s Golf Association. These women golfers represent the following clubs: Beaver Brook CC, Cherokee CC, Fox Den CC, Green Meadow CC, Holston Hills CC, Oak Ridge CC, Rarity Bay GC, The Club at Gettysvue, and Tellico Village.

SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB SECURES PLACE IN PGA TOUR’S NEW CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES One of the PGA TOUR’s longest-running relationships will continue into a new era as Sedgefield Country Club remains home to Greensboro’s PGA TOUR event. Beginning in 2028, the tournament will become part of the new PGA TOUR Championship Series, with Raymond James serving as title sponsor. The event will be contested as a full-field PGA TOUR event in 2027 before transitioning to the Championship Series. Founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, the tournament has been won by legends including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, with Sedgefield hosting the event more than 40 times. After a 31-year absence, the PGA TOUR returned to Sedgefield in 2008 following the restoration of its Donald Rossdesigned course, and McConnell Golf acquired the club in 2011. The announcement ensures Sedgefield will remain on one of golf’s biggest stages as the PGA TOUR enters its next era. In 2028, the Greensboro event will celebrate its 90th anniversary, bringing its remarkable history full circle.

Michael Brennan arrived at Sedgefield with his PGA TOUR season hanging in the balance and left as Wyndham Championship winner. The former Wake Forest standout closed with a 6-under 64 to win by three shots at 22-under 258, tying the tournament scoring record.
