HOLSTON HILLS, YOU’LL ALWAYS BE HOME Dear Holston Hills Members, I never imagined I would be writing this letter before retirement. Holston Hills has been the only place I’ve worked as an adult, and I’ve been here since February 26, 1992, when Pro Wylie gave me a chance as an Assistant Golf Professional. Now, God’s plan for Tammy and me is unfolding into a new chapter. McConnell Golf has been gracious enough to allow us to finish our golf careers at the beach. I have accepted the position of Director of Golf/General Manager at The Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island, SC. Friday, July 4, will be my last day working at Holston Hills. The Reserve Golf Club has a different footprint than Holston Hills, and my responsibilities will shift to allow a larger focus on my role as a Golf Professional. One of the most exciting aspects for me is that McConnell Golf has asked Tammy to serve as the Director of Instruction at the club. She will join me later this year after fulfilling her prior teaching commitments and completing her final semester as a Physical Education teacher in the school system. Tammy will be responsible for developing instructional programming at The Reserve, along with providing private lessons. I honestly have no idea how to properly thank the membership of Holston Hills for always embracing me as part of the family. I raised Kennedy and Jackson at this club, and both of them worked here for a period of time. Over the past three decades, countless stories, laughs, and friendships have been shared. I have truly been blessed to call Holston Hills home. Having ridden the Holston Hills roller coaster with many of you, it is truly heartwarming to see the club thriving as it is today. The team here is dedicated and exceptional, and I can’t wait to see the club continue to grow. The plan is for Josie Lewis to serve as Interim General Manager and for Christian Melson to step into the role of Interim Director of Golf. Both have outstanding leadership skills and the warmth and friendliness that are hallmarks of Holston Hills. Please offer them your full support during this transition. The team at Holston Hills has also been my family. So many meaningful relationships have been built over the years. With the longest-tenured members of the team, I’ve formed friendships that will last a lifetime. No amount of distance will break those bonds.

Ryan Blair, Charlene Parton, Jim Disney, Roy and Angel Palmer, Tom Seymour, Cynthia Burrell, Lincoln Hurd, Danielle Haas, Patrick Budniewski, Randy Wylie, Dara Jenkins, Frankie Thomas, and Christian Melson have been incredible friends and co-workers. I cannot thank them enough and hope they’ll keep me in some crazy group text so we can continue laughing together—just like we always have. I would also like to thank the newest team members, as well as the many past team members, for their friendship and dedication to Holston Hills. Oh man…here comes the tears. John and Clare Wylie raised me from a young age. Pro gave me a chance, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. He stood by me and taught me what it truly means to be a Golf Professional. I love John and Clare deeply and couldn’t be more grateful to have one of the greatest Golf Professionals in Tennessee history as my mentor. So, yeah—wow. It’s hard to believe this moment is here. I’m incredibly grateful to McConnell Golf for this opportunity and excited for what’s ahead. I’m thankful that many of you will have the chance to visit us at The Reserve. To the Holston Hills team and membership, thank you for your unwavering support and friendship over the years. God has blessed me in more ways than I can count. His plan is perfect, and I look forward to seeing what He has in store next for Tammy and me. This isn’t goodbye—it’s a heartfelt thank you. We can’t wait to see you again soon. Plans are already in the works for a celebration at Holston Hills this fall, where we’ll raise a glass, enjoy a few cocktails, and relive the many memories we’ve made together. Until then, “Good luck, play well, and have fun!” With gratitude, A Loyal Friend CHRIS DIBBLE, GENERAL MANAGER / DIRECTOR OF GOLF

MEMBERSHIP UPDATES Summer is here—and so is the heat! The pool is rockin’, the golf course is buzzing, the tennis courts are getting watered twice a day, the Kids Club is filled with laughter (and the smell of pizza!), and the Clubhouse is jam-packed with members and guests stopping in for lunch and dinner. It’s great to see our membership in full swing. We had back-to-back months of growth in May and June, welcoming 22 new families and 2 returning families to the Holston Hills CC and McConnell Golf family—just shy of our previous record of 25 set back in 2021. Even more exciting, over 70% of our new members came from referrals, which truly makes me smile. Thank you all so much for sharing your love for the Club! Just a quick reminder: If you need a fitness center key fob, please swing by my office (located in the Golf Shop), and I’ll be happy to issue you one. There is a fitness center agreement form you’ll need to sign. Finally, don’t forget to check out the HHCC Weekly Happenings email that goes out every Tuesday afternoon to the entire membership. It’s a great way to stay connected and in the know about upcoming events and club news. We have a lot of exciting things planned for this summer, and we hope to see you and your family out at the Club often. If you ever have questions, suggestions, or trouble making a reservation, please don’t hesitate to reach out. My door is always open! ~ Dara Jenkins, Membership & Communications Director

KORN FERRY TOUR - VISIT KNOXVILLE OPEN

It was a privilege to host the Korn Ferry Tour – Visit Knoxville Open in late May, leading up to Memorial Day. It was an unforgettable experience. Several of our own Holston Hills CC members played in the tournament and performed incredibly well: Ryan Hall tied for 6th, securing full Korn Ferry Tour status for the remainder of the year. Bryce Lewis, the final alternate to get into the field, tied for 17th, earning a spot in the following week’s tournament in Raleigh, NC—held at another McConnell Golf property on a fellow Donald Ross course. The final day of the tournament brought serious excitement—Johnny Keefer forced a playoff with a remarkable birdie from off the green on the 72nd hole. Then, on the first playoff hole, Pontus Nyholm sank a 55-foot putt for an eagle to claim his first Korn Ferry Tour victory. The energy was absolutely electric!

SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR MEMBERS On behalf of all of us at HHCC, thank you to every member who volunteered during the tournament. The success of this event is truly because of YOU! A special thank you as well to the members who opened their homes to host a Korn Ferry Tour player and/or caddies. We will continue to update you all on the timeline of our new courts, and I could not be more excited! A few reminders as we get into our busy season on the courts: Proper attire is required for play on the courts. This includes closed-toed shoes, and no swimwear!! Please place any trash, waste, etc. in designated areas when done playing. If the courts are being watered/wet, please refrain from going on the clay courts. With the summer heat in full swing, it’s more important than ever to stay hydrated—especially when spending time outdoors at the Club. Drinking plenty of water helps regulate your body temperature, keeps your energy levels up, and helps prevent heat-related illnesses. Whether you’re on the golf course, the tennis courts, or relaxing by the pool, be sure to keep a water bottle handy and take frequent water breaks throughout the day. Your body will thank you!

Message from the pool deck...

Summer is in full swing at the Holston Hills Country Club pool! We’re seeing great crowds every day, and if you ask the kids, they’ll all tell you: “2:00 PM is the best time to be at the pool for the Popsicle Parade!” Mr. Disney keeps the fun going with a different funny hat each day as he hands out popsicles on the pool deck. It’s become a favorite summer tradition! We hope to see you and your family out enjoying the pool soon. If you have any questions, please reach out to Jim Disney at jimdisney@holstonhills.com.
