NOTES FROM THE GM
Dear Members, As we close out the summer, I can’t help but look forward to my favorite time of year. Cooler temperatures, beautiful days on the golf course, and a full calendar of activities make fall such a special time to be at the Club! First and foremost, I want to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new members—we are thrilled to have you as part of the Cobblestone family! We’ve added 15 new families this summer, with several more expected to join us in September. Whether you’ve already teed it up, experienced dinner at Alexander’s, attended a social event, or simply stopped by to explore the facilities, we hope you are already beginning to feel at home. If we haven’t yet had the opportunity to meet, I look forward to connecting with you the next time you’re at the Club! I’d also like to introduce our new Director of Golf, Dan Swomley. Coming to us from Raleigh Country Club, Dan has jumped right in, bringing with him the structure and professionalism of McConnell Golf. He is excited to meet all of you, and we are thrilled about the new ideas and energy he is bringing to the Club. A special thank you to Dr. McConnell, who has brought Alexander’s to life with new carpet and hand-picked furniture. The new look has rolled upstairs to the Raleigh Room and event suite, as well as down to the Pro Shop and throughout the Men’s Locker Room. Gentlemen, take a beat from the heat in the Men’s Lounge, where we’ve resurfaced the pool table and added new billiards accessories, new carpet, a big-screen TV, and additional furniture. Dr. McConnell’s team will be back in the coming weeks to finish the staircase and foyer carpeting, as well as the Ladies’ Locker Room. Club Championship weekend was one for the books, with great playing and beautiful weather! A big round of applause goes out to our new Club Champions, Rebekah Gawinski and Eric Nord—great playing! We are looking forward to the Senior Club Championship, Ladies’ 9-Hole Championship, Parent-Child Tournament, and Fall Member-Member coming up in September and October. As we welcome many member-sponsored outings this fall, we ask that you please keep an eye on your monthly calendars and watch for our Wednesday Club Happenings to stay abreast of any schedule changes. In the event of a schedule shift, please give the Golf Shop a call if you would like us to make accommodations at one of our nearby reciprocal courses. And then there’s the fun! Labor Day Party with a Dunk Tank, Dueling Piano Night, Drive-In Movie, Halloween Spooktacular, Fairways & Flavors, Irish Whiskey Dinner and more—wow! Mark your calendars and call to book your spot for these fabulous fall events. Not to mention Chef’s new Tailgate To-Go, Thanksgiving Table Pickup, and the return of CHOPPED, all right around the corner! The golf course is in fantastic condition, the Clubhouse has received a beautiful refresh, and the events are happening—what a wonderful time to be a part of Cobblestone! I hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to use your Club, bring out your friends and family, welcome a new member, and immerse yourself in everything Cobblestone has to offer. We have a lot to look forward to this fall, and I can’t wait to enjoy it with all of you! Warmly,
Heather Lathrop General Manager

CLUBHOUSE
A note from Chef
The past couple of months have been full of great food, exciting events, and plenty of memorable moments here at Cobblestone! From themed dinners and special events to tournament weekends, it has been a busy summer, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
A very special thank you to Dr. Rebekah McConnell for the beautiful upgrades throughout our clubhouse. Her incredible eye for design and attention to detail have brought a fresh, welcoming feel to our spaces, and we are so grateful for the time and thought that went into making Cobblestone even more beautiful for our members to enjoy.
BOOK YOUR NEXT EVENT WITH US Whether it's a corporate gathering or a social soirée, our clubhouse and ceremony lawn offer the ideal backdrop for unforgettable experiences. Elevate your event with our top-notch amenities and dedicated staff, ensuring seamless planning and execution every step of the way. From intimate board meetings to grand celebrations, make your next event a resounding success at Cobblestone Golf Club!
We’ve had the opportunity to create menus for some incredible events, including our Par 3 Challenge, SC Women’s Open, Club Championship, Coastal Night, Prime Rib Night, Line Dancing Night, and so much more. Coastal Night was especially fun as we brought a little taste of the coast right here to Cobblestone. I’ve also loved seeing so many of you enjoying our Friday Night Dinners and the different menus we’ve been able to bring to the Club throughout the summer. Another highlight of the past few months was the opportunity to spend time at Sedgefield Country Club during the Wyndham Championship. It was truly a privilege to experience a PGA TOUR event from behind the scenes and spend time in the kitchen alongside other talented McConnell Golf chefs. Being able to work together, share ideas, and see what goes into executing food on such a large stage was an incredible experience. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to bring some of that inspiration back home to Cobblestone. One of my favorite parts of being your Chef is creating experiences that go beyond simply serving a meal. Whether you’re grabbing something after a round of golf, sitting down for dinner with friends, or joining us for one of our larger Club events, I want the food to be something you look forward to and remember. And we aren’t slowing down as we head into September! I’m looking forward to our Labor Day Party on September 4, where we’ll have a fantastic buffet to go along with an evening of music, games, and fun on Black 9. We also have Dueling Pianos coming September 25, along with more Friday Night Dinners, special menus, and plenty of great food headed your way. Thank you to everyone who continues to dine with us, attend our events, and support what we’re doing here at Cobblestone. I love getting creative in the kitchen and seeing everyone gathered around the Club enjoying great food and great company. There is plenty more to come, and I can’t wait to cook for you! See you around the Club!

FROM THE PRO SHOP It has been great meeting so many of the members and patrons of Cobblestone GC over the past three weeks. My family and I are very excited to be here, and we have quickly come to appreciate what a wonderful community Cobblestone is for golf, activities, and fellowship. Hopefully, cooler fall temperatures are on the way! Fall is a fantastic time to enjoy the course, but it is also one of the busiest times of the golfing season. With that in mind, I encourage all members to please check the tee sheet notes before inviting guests, as we have many days when events and activities can impact play. I also ask that everyone help their fellow members by practicing good tee-time etiquette. Teetime etiquette is about more than simply booking a time—it is about taking ownership of the time you reserve. With our course being so busy, it is important that the member making the reservation manages that tee time responsibly. Here are a few simple ways we can make sure tee times remain available to any member who wishes to play: Book tee times when you plan to use them. Please avoid booking a tee time simply as an option in case you decide to play. Enter the names of the members who are actually playing. It is perfectly fine for the names in your group to change, but the correct names should be entered into the tee sheet at least 48 hours before your reservation. If you have booked a foursome but only have one or two names entered, with the remaining spots listed as TBD, those TBD spots will be released two days prior to the reservation and become available for another group to book. Cancel or modify reservations as soon as you know the time is no longer needed. Giving as much notice as possible allows other members the opportunity to enjoy the course. Thank you for your help and cooperation as we work together to make the most of our tee sheet and provide the best possible experience for all of our members. The Professional Staff and I are eager to help in any way we can to enhance your member experience. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us if you have questions, need assistance, or simply want to connect. I look forward to seeing everyone around the club and enjoying a great fall season at Cobblestone!

FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer! It has definitely been a hot one, with plenty of afternoon thunderstorms along the way. Between July and August, we have received approximately 13 inches of rain so far, which has certainly helped the golf course maintain a beautiful shade of green throughout the summer. In July, we had a little fun bringing the water slide back to the hillside on Black #1. After having it out twice this summer, I think it is safe to say it has become a new favorite around Cobblestone! We just wish Mother Nature hadn’t given us 20 mph winds both days while we were trying to set it up… haha! August was an especially busy month for our Golf Course Maintenance team as we prepared the course for several major events, including the U.S. Senior Women’s Qualifier, South Carolina Women’s Open, and our Club Championship. Congratulations to Eric Nord and Rebekah Gawinski, our 2026 Club Champions. Excellent play by both! I also want to recognize our Golf Course Maintenance staff for the tremendous job they have done keeping Cobblestone in great condition through the summer heat, heavy thunderstorms, and a very busy tournament schedule. Their hard work and dedication each day continue to make a difference on the course. As we move through the final week of August, we are finally starting to feel hints of cooler temperatures in the mornings. Hopefully, that means fall weather is not too far away! Over the next couple of months, our team will begin preparing the golf course for the fall and winter seasons. This will include gradually raising mower heights to provide better protection and cushion as the turf heads into winter dormancy. We will also begin our pre-emergent applications throughout the golf course and put out rye seed on the driving range tees and par-3 tees. We appreciate everyone’s support throughout another busy summer at Cobblestone and look forward to seeing you out on the course!

SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB SECURES PLACE IN PGA TOUR’S NEW CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES One of the PGA TOUR’s longest-running relationships will continue into a new era as Sedgefield Country Club remains home to Greensboro’s PGA TOUR event. Beginning in 2028, the tournament will become part of the new PGA TOUR Championship Series, with Raymond James serving as title sponsor. The event will be contested as a full-field PGA TOUR event in 2027 before transitioning to the Championship Series. Founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open, the tournament has been won by legends including Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, with Sedgefield hosting the event more than 40 times. After a 31-year absence, the PGA TOUR returned to Sedgefield in 2008 following the restoration of its Donald Rossdesigned course, and McConnell Golf acquired the club in 2011. The announcement ensures Sedgefield will remain on one of golf’s biggest stages as the PGA TOUR enters its next era. In 2028, the Greensboro event will celebrate its 90th anniversary, bringing its remarkable history full circle.
