A LETTER FROM JD TRUEBLOOD

Dear Members,

Thank you for welcoming me into the club with warmth, excitement, and kindness It is a great honor to be part of the McConnell Golf team, and I want to thank everyone for believing in me to continue the success of the Country Club of Asheville. The staff here have been remarkable in helping me get settled in, and I want to thank each staff member for their dedication to making our club so special

The game of golf and the relationships built throughout have led me to the Country Club of Asheville, and I am thrilled about the 2026 season and beyond! If you have any questions, want to introduce yourself and chat, I'm here to serve the members and support our wonderful staff in the process of continuing to elevate the Country Club of Asheville & the McConnell Golf team!

Super's Corner

March and April are typically the busiest months of the year for the GCM Department During this time, we are wrapping up winter projects, completing aerification, and making pre-emergent and fertilizer applications, all while the turf begins to wake up and course playability becomes our primary focus.

Despite the unfavorable weather at the end of January and beginning of February, we were still able to complete many of the winter projects we had planned The new culvert and headwall installations on #10 and #16 were much-needed improvements These upgrades will help manage heavy rain events more effectively and have significantly improved safety in both areas Our team also spent considerable time cleaning up “birdbaths,” repairing irrigation and drainage issues, clearing trees and tree lines, and addressing unsightly areas left behind by Hurricane Helene.

As a reminder, the golf course will be closed from March 23 through March 27 for aerification. Aerification is one of the most important agronomic practices we perform each year It helps relieve soil compaction, allows the soil to breathe and receive oxygen, reduces thatch buildup, and plays a critical role in maintaining healthy turf throughout the summer months

As we head into the main golfing season, we would also like to share a few course etiquette reminders:

Repair ball marks: please fix yours and one other. Every ball that hits a green has the potential to leave a mark.

Repair divots: replace the turf when possible; if not, please use the green divot mix provided on the carts.

Be mindful of high-traffic areas and please obey all cart restrictions and traffic stakes This applies to carts, push carts, and walking traffic

Thank you for your continued support as we prepare the course for the upcoming season We look forward to a great season of golf

Warm regards,

TENNIS Racquet Sports

SEDGEFIELD C.C. HITS THE CENTURY MARK

CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: 2019 PERRY’S BLEND

Spring Mountain District, Napa Valley Blend: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon • 20% Merlot

15% Cabernet Franc • 10% Petit Verdot

2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Sedgefield Country Club and its historic Donald Ross–designed golf course in Greensboro, North Carolina This video highlights the club’s early history, from its founding in 1926 to its lasting influence on professional golf and regional sports Sedgefield hosted early editions of the Greater Greensboro Open now the Wyndham Championship featuring legends such as Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, and Byron Nelson, and is the birthplace of the Atlantic Coast Conference Today, under McConnell Golf, Sedgefield continues to honor its past while building for the future. PROGRESS CONTINUES ON COURSE RENOVATION PROJECT IN BLYTHEWOOD, SOUTH CAROLINA

With work on the Black 9 now complete, the renovation project at Cobblestone Golf Club has shifted to the Garnet 9 All bunkers will be rebuilt with Capillary Concrete liners and new sand, accompanied by subtle shaping to improve drainage and minimize washouts. The project also includes the installation of new concrete cart paths, selective rerouting for improved playability, and tree removal as needed to protect the new infrastructure.

The 2019 Perry’s Blend is a beautifully crafted Bordeaux-style Napa Valley red from Juslyn Vineyards, showcasing the intensity that defines the Spring Mountain District Juslyn Vineyards was founded by Perry and Carolyn Butler in 1997 after they left the tech world to pursue their passion for winemaking Their vineyard sits high above Napa Valley, where cooler mountain temperatures help create wines with great depth and character They focus on small-lot production and hands-on care, apparent in every bottle.

Bright red cherry and black currant lead the way, layered with hints of spice and subtle oak. Silky, polished tannins give the wine a graceful structure, while its supple texture and balanced acidity carry through to a long, lingering finish The result is a wine that is both powerful and refined equally suited for savoring now or pairing with a memorable meal.
