LETTER FROM GM & GALLERY Here we go again! 2025 closes and 2026 comes to life. Clubhouse & Course Updates This year, we updated every level of the clubhouse, installed new doors with digital locks on the on-course comfort stations, and upgraded the fitness center. Going into 2026, we are working to create a dedicated space for our group fitness classes. The new golf simulator has been purchased. This update in technology will be fantastic to work on your game or take on your buddies. Club Events The 2026 social calendar is jam-packed with something for everyone. We encourage you all to check out the new monthly tennis socials and culinary events. Each event is designed to create opportunities to connect with one another. Embracing the New Year and New Possibilities The success of 2026 is fully dependent on the partnership between the membership and club. We look forward to being a part of your daily routines, and being your place to gather with friends and family. Your feedback is always welcome and appreciated. We want to express our sincerest gratitude for your continued support and enthusiasm. This membership is truly special. Here’s to a prosperous 2026! Warm regards, Aaron James General Manager

Arctic Toy Drive (Dec. 4, 2025): CCA’s Women's Golf Association braved the cold temperatures for a great cause: donating toys for the Buncombe County Foster Children's program. This year's donations were accepted before and during the event from those who could and could not attend the event resulting in over 300 children who will receive toys. The number of gifts this year far exceeded prior years. Of course, this event did involve some golf (despite the very low temps). Each player was allowed to bring three clubs and a putter to play 3.5 holes. Golf was followed by a wonderful lunch by a fire pit.

Kiawah Event (Nov. 5–6, 2025): The CCA team won the Carolina Division and Second Flight at the 9th Carolinas Women's Club Team Championship at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Oak Point course. Team members Sue Pregartner, Jennifer Yount, Carol Mills, and Lynn Sletto took home the overall net score win in the Carolina Division with a net score of 18 under. The two-day event featured a two-person scramble on day one and a Pinehurst alternate shot on day two. Fourteen teams competed in three flights. Stop by the women’s locker room at CCA to view the trophies.

TEE IT UP Country Club of Asheville Members, Happy New Year! As we wrap up the holidays and head into the New Year, we are excited and looking forward to the new golf season. 2025 was a busy golf year here at CCA, and I am sure 2026 will be the same. We have a tournament calendar full of competitive and social events along with golf clinics and kids camps. Winter is a perfect time to take inventory of your golf clubs and get them ready for the upcoming golf season. Stop by the golf shop and let the professional staff not only help you decide if it is a good time to re-grip your clubs but also make sure your grips are the correct size! Winter Golf Rules and Tee Time Schedule Tee times for January and February will begin at 10:00 AM. We will keep an eye on the weather; if mornings look warmer, we will adjust tee times to begin earlier, and on days that will be colder, we will push tee times to 11:00 or schedule a shotgun start. We will look a week to 10 days in advance and communicate as much as possible to keep everyone informed. Now that we are officially in winter golf, we are playing our winter rules on the golf course. Lift, clean, and place in your own fairway will be in effect, which means whenever you are hitting from fairway-height mown grass or shorter (fairways or fringes), you may mark your golf ball, clean it, and place it within one club length, no closer to the hole.

PGA TOUR Biltmore Championship If you haven’t heard, the City of Asheville will be hosting the PGA TOUR Biltmore Championship September 17-20. We are very fortunate to announce that Country Club of Asheville will host the Monday Qualifier for this event on Monday, September 14. Roughly 80 individuals will play 18 holes of golf for the chance to win a qualify spot into the Biltmore Championship. More information to follow as we get closer to this event!

Indoor Golf & Practice — Perfect for Winter Golf The golf simulator room is being renovated, and a Full Swing golf simulator has been purchased. The indoor facility will be up and running shortly, great practice to keep your game in shape on these cold winter days. The professional golf staff is also available for lessons or fittings on the indoor simulator.

GROUNDS Dear members, Happy New Year! It seems like just yesterday we were in the midst of our fall aerification, and yet 2026 is already here. I’d like to begin this newsletter with a few reminders about caring for the course during the winter months. Even during stretches of pleasant weather, turf does not recover from damage the way it does in the summer. Ball marks, divots, cart traffic, and even foot traffic all have an impact on turf health going into spring. Ball marks and divots are the most obvious concerns. Please take an extra moment to repair ball marks—yours and at least one additional— and to fill or replace divots. This small effort makes a significant difference during spring green-up. I often say that any unrepaired ball mark or divot this time of year becomes a perfect home for new Poa annua plants. Cart, push-cart, and foot traffic also affect turf health. After long periods of freezing conditions, we may keep carts restricted to paths for an extra day or two to help prevent root-zone damage. As you play this winter, please be mindful of traffic patterns—try not to follow the same worn paths and spread traffic whenever possible. We will be using traffic posts as reminders in key areas. Our winter project season is also getting into full swing. Over the next few months we will be raising “bird baths” and drain basins, improving drainage—particularly on Holes 4, 5, and 7—repairing cart paths, addressing high-traffic areas around tees and greens, and adding muchneeded sand to several bunkers. At times, a few holes may temporarily play as par 3s to allow our work to continue without interruption. Busy times are ahead, and we hope to see everyone on the course this winter, especially on those nice-weather days. We’re looking forward to a great 2026 season. Warm regards, Sean K. Baskette Golf Course Superintendent Country Club of Asheville

The same work will follow on the Garnet 9, with completion targeted for Spring 2026. During construction, the nine holes under renovation will be closed to all play. The Water’s Edge Country Club: After Memorial Day, The Water’s Edge will close the course to convert all bentgrass fairways and tees to Bermudagrass, with a 10–12 week grow-in and a planned reopening by Labor Day. The club will also begin practice facility upgrades, including a redesigned first hole, a relocated putting green, and an expanded driving range tee near the clubhouse. These enhancements will elevate the overall golf experience and position the club for long-term success.
